  1. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/15082097.TRANSFER_UPDATE__Caceres_can_bring__quality_and_spirit_/?ref=mac According to the Echo, he can't even be in the country until the work permit is sorted. Update: my wife, who's a visa & immigration adviser, has just said he'll need to apply for his Tier 2 sports persons visa from outside the UK, so this is probably true.
  2. According to Adam Blackmore, the pic of Caceres "training" was actually a photo from his fitness tests (I guess part of his medical) not him training with us.
  3. According to Adam Blackmore at Puel's press conference today, Boufal could be fit for the final.
  4. If he signs, he'll be the second Caceres to be on Saints books, I think? Anyone remember Adrian Caceres coming through the ranks?
  5. I agree, it's not the ideal way to sign someone in what is a key position for us right now. I guess, for me though, I see someone who comes with real pedigree & who will have passed two thorough medicals, one with Milan & now one with us, to give some reassurance his injury problems are behind him. As a centre back, I'd imagine it could take less time to reach the requisite match fitness than say a central midfielder, so I'm hopeful it won't be too long. Time will tell, I guess...
  6. We've had some 11pm announcements before...
  7. Excellent. Sounds like we might get lucky and have signed a gem, if we can get him match fit quickly.
  8. How did Hassen get on tonight? Anyone know? Got a clean sheet with Cuco playing centre half so that has to be a plus!
  9. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4196050/Southampton-close-free-agent-Martin-Caceres.html The Daily Mail have joined in too, now.
  10. A Uruguayan journo from Gol TV, Martin Charquero, has also now piped up: "Martin Cáceres returned to England. The chance now is to play in Southampton." I wonder how close this is?
  11. So, this is happening then?
  12. From Jorge Baravalle, apparently a journo on Fox Sports, on Twitter: "Attention. The Uruguayan Martín Cáceres, who did not fix his contract with Milan, will play in Southampton."
  13. Yes, that's how I'd see us playing too. Wrong personnel though as you've left out Redmond.
  14. The World Cup winning Alan Ball definitely plus Keegan & Shilton, for me.
  15. Scanning through that list, the choice is obvious. It's time to bring back Neal Trotman... http://www.transfermarkt.com/neal-trotman/profil/spieler/45697
  16. Apparently made a last minute loan move for Jordi Amat at Swansea. #Desperate
  17. As things stand, Les Reed is like the cr*p darts player on Bullseye: "centre back you've asked for, goalie you've got..."
  18. I wonder if it's worth a late call to Chelsea to see what Nathan Ake's situation is. His move back doesn't seem to see him any closer to their 1st team...
  19. Hypothetical question: right now, if the option was taking Phil Jagielka as our centre back cover or just staying as we are, what would you do??
  20. Where have Palace got all this cash from? No wonder Big Sam wanted the job!
  21. Ah yes, I remember now. Triffic signings, all of 'em.
  22. Trying to remember the last busy January window we had. Maybe when we signed Prutton & Higginbotham?
  23. As in an imminent announcement or the player arriving in England?
  24. A bit early, I know but: Will Gabbiadini finally complete his move? Will we sign 1 centre back or maybe even 2? Will we get a new goalie as well? Will there be any surprise arrivals? Will there be any departures, major or otherwise, from Saints? Will there be any blockbuster deals from any of the other Premier League clubs? Will Hull have any players left? Will Arsenal be allowed to get their deals done past the 11pm closing time as usual? Will this thread be subsumed into the main transfer thread? So many questions and not long to wait to find out the answers...
