Some of the moaning on here. We pished that for 65 minutes Makes it 4 wins out of last 5 (unbeaten in last 5) 3rd in the league (after losing our first two games) So what if we dropped off a bit late on and conceded a few. The game was done at 4-0
-
In the 87th minute. Not sure you can really judge somebody on 3 and 4 minute appearances respectively. Lets get 45 minutes out of him and hopefully he shows the same promise
-
If he gives us the same as what Lemina did in his first 6 months with us then we'll all be pleased
-
All very easy to do when you come on with 5 minutes left and your team is 2-0 up against 10 men. He did look good but will want to see what hes like when the game is tight and theres more pressure being put on him in possession
-
Looks to have stepped up his fitness /sharpness since the lockdown break. Thought his days here looked numbered halfway through last season, just looked like his legs were done. Whatever the change, be it Ralphs influence or something else, its great to see

Who the f*** is Dave Horseman and how did he end up in charge of the "B Team". With high hopes around the likes of Jankewitz, Mitchell, Tchaptchet and Robise, the results of his team are a bit embarassing

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
woodsaint1 replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Reading back through this thread is good for a laugh. The recurring theme is JV has a poor game and is the worst CB this club has signed, should let him run down his contract and leave on a free because nobody will sign him. JV has a decent game and is finally proving the doubters wrong. Good that we kept faith in him. Rinse and repeat, typical SWF -
Im not writing him off, merely pointing out that hes not a given to start now. Thats what we want though. Vestergaard has stepped up, Stephens is still a good option and Salisu is still to come in
-
Great point, especially after the first half hour. Think we got Chelsea at a good time, they look a shambles at the back. Adams goal was laughable but take it all the same. Bednarek could go from our first choice to fourth choice CB in no time, was poor today
-
Wonder if we'll look at any championship full backs in the next 10 days to provide cover since we missed out on Williams.
-
I think he'll be demanding that he starts. Wont be leaving Everton where he cant get a game to come here to sit on the bench. Not for me
-
This. Makes no sense as he would be second choice here too
-
175k a week 😳 already Im getting a feeling of billy big balls about him. Not a mission we would be looking to make anything permanent about it either. Would rather we loaned or bought somebody who could be a longer term option for us
-
If hes on his way, then its very unlikely. Club wont want to risk him getting injured and scuppering any potential move before the deadline

Leicesters recruitment in recent years has been excellent and something we can only aspire to be like (or return to). They pipped us to Maddison, we ended up with Elyonnoussi. They signed Evans and Söyüncü, we opted for Vestergaard and Danso. Ndidi, Pereira and Praet other excellent signings. This summer they've identified their targets and are going about their business diligently. Castagne looks a great replacement for Chilwell and now they're looking at Tarkowski/Fofana/Tah (who was linked to us previously) who are all very good players. Also picked up Ünder on loan. Please let our recruitment in the last week show some kind of ambition 🙏

Pelle got his first Italy cap when he played for us. Tadic came from FC Twente so wasnt well known and Serbia hardly have a luxury of players. Im just saying that ruling out a player from the dutch league based on precedent is incorrect. Im sure theres plenty of good players in that league and Veerman may be one. On the Sessegnon point, being exceptional in the championship isnt a guarantee for PL success as we've discovered with Adams. Of course Spurs dont think hes crap if they spent 25 mill, but how much he cost is not an automatic indicator of success. Would I like Sessegnon here, yes, but do i think we really need him, not so sure.
-
Half of them arent even european fs. You've conveniently omitted Tadic and Pelle, two of our best players in the past 10 years and were both nododys who came from the dutch league. I'm not saying this kid is the answer because I'm honest to admit I know nothing about him. You seem to be an expert on dutch players tho. And why Sessegnon? We have plenty of cover down the left side and hes hardly oozing PL experience. In fact his only real PL experience was in a very poor Fulham side. Dont write off one unknown option and then praise another largely unknown option. #Think

That other option could be progressing in the background and maybe why we didnt commit to Sangare. Maybe a higher profile target who we could get at the right price (alluding to Semmens comments)* *really wishful thinking

Fantastic! I await the standard "we probably weren't in for him anyways" to save face. I wonder how many players it is now who have turned us down this window
-
Bit odd that article. They want Koopmeiners because Pablo Hernandez got injured. Firstly Hernandez is an AM, Koopmeiners is a DM (has also played at CB). Secondly, the DM role at Leeds is filled by their poster boy Kalvin Phillips

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m
woodsaint1 replied to The Odd Guy's topic in The Saints
Recruitment dept could do with a bit of help too judging by previous transfer windows -
We are the low balling experts. Not sure I can take that article serious tho when it states that Hojbjerg was making things 'tick' for Spurs against us. He was non existent in the first half and played no part in Kane/Son running riot against us
-
Hudson-Odoi has been pursued by Bayern for about 18 months now, he will not be joining us. RLC more realistic but not the kind of player we need imo
-
Leeds signing their third centre back of window, all of whom will likely have started a game before Salisu does. Will take their spending over 80 million with two weeks of the window still to go. All the while we're looking at a loan for Tom Davies. Now its not all about how much teams spend, as the likes of Fulham have proven before, but its still a bit depressing
