  1. Friday - Did nothing Sat - shopping, dropping off and picking up middle son from a party, then out to friends for the evening and had too much to drink Sun - woke up without hangover, took and picked up middle son from another party, took kids to their dad, did some studying, what most of the match, twas 1-1 when i went to collect the kids, recovered from shock of it being 4-1 when i got home Overall 7/10
  2. I remeber the day as if it were yesterday. Don't think I had slept the night before. Met Hampshire Saint and got a lift to Fleet Services to catch one of the travel buses. The journey to Cardiff was spectacular. Just a sea of red and white and yellow as far as the eye could see. Every bus, car, limo seemed to have made nan effort to display our colours. Got to Cardiff, and the atmosphere was electric. Met up wit IOWSaintsfan and Islander at the ground and then inside to find our seats. Being one of the first in was amazing. Watching our end just become yellow was a sight to behold. And I dont think we stopped chanting from beginning to end. After the match, the memory of the arsenal fans leaving before the cup had been lifted, must be so nice to see it year in year out that you dont have to bother to stay and applaud your team. Walkimg out and back to the coach, seeing all us fans buzzing despite the result. Spoke to a mate who is an arsenal fan and even he didnt seem to bothered that they had won. Not the usual post match banter from him. Anyway coming home and again it was like every vehicle was saints. People were partying on open top buses, limos etc. Heaven knows what it would have been like had we actually won. I dont think I stopped buzzing until days later, I know I didnt sleep that night either. I didnt think we could surpass the day out to Villa Park for the Semi. It would be great to go through those emotions again, but this time WIN
  3. Will be watching this one at home, inbetween bathing the kids etc. For some reason I have already written us off to win this game. i am not normally so pessimistic so I hope I am eating my words later
  4. The problem is nowadays that like alot of things, it is not necessarily an automatic part of your policy. Alot of people don't realise this or not prepared to pay the stupid amount the insurance companies want you to pay. This is why travel insurance has become so cheap these days.
  5. Forgot about that facility. Thanks BTF. Unfortuantly, like others, I think that there will be a few more go under before next summer. Because this was such a big company, and as hit the headlines more than others like zoom, people will be more aware of how unstable the industry is right now. I don't think I would want to be an employee in this business right now, not knowing if the company they work for is going to be next
  6. As Colin has said this is a forum of free speech and you are entitled to your opinion, just a shame that you have to be patronising and insulting when you do it. To call people who cant afford the luxuries in life 'pikeys' is an insult. The fact they are, or most of them are, hard working and some miss out on things that others take for granted for the chance of a week away from it all seems to be beyond anything you can comprehend. If you want people to aim your insults at then do it to the owners of the company that were still taking innocent peoples money at 3am yesterday morning, still allowing the pilots and cabin crew to fly out of the UK knowing full well that they would be stranded, left employees who worked for them abroad with no accomodation, allowed people to go home on Thursday evening believing that they had a job to wake for on Friday morning. Also you could also aim it at the other airlines that doubled/trebled their prices because they knew that people would have to pay it to get home. Just dont do it to the victims of this collapse no matter how pathetic you think that they are behaving. Until you know each and everyone, who has been affected by this, their personal circumstances, I do not believe you are in a position to be labelling them. I think it is you that needs to wake up and get a grip and realise that everyone is different and will react to situations in different ways whether you agree with them or not.
  7. People like you make me sick. Obviously you are so well paid that you can fly first class with the best airlines and stay in first class hotels everywhere. My parents, both pensioners, saved hard to go on this holiday, and have been really looking forward to going. To find out 10 days before they fly that their dreams have been shattered is indescribable. Hearing my mum cry over the phone was awful. Luckily my sister and I have been able to get another flight on the same day and that was only because we acted quickly and could cover the cost between us. Yes my dad paid by credit card so should get his money back eventually although the credit card company do not seem that willing to help. Of course I feel sorry for all the employees of the company. Where their future lies no one knows. They are probably all owed wages as well and most will have families to support. This is no more their fault than it is the customers fault. I have heard one story of someones daughter who worked as a rep, is now stranded with no money, no acccomodation, no flight home and also has to deal with angry holidaymakers. They have my sympathy of course they do. Their future is pretty bleak. As colin said it is all relative. At the end of the day it is how this kind of thing affects you personally But the reason I put this post up was not to gain anyones sympathy/pity, it was to inform everyone who uses this site incase they too are affected, so they can begin trying to reclaim any money lost asap and maybe able to rearrange their holidays quickly before everything gets booked up.
  8. Tonight - Nothing Tomorrow - Shopping, take middle son to party, pick same son up 2 hours later. Off round a friends for the evening. Sunday - Take same son to yet another party, pick up 1 and half hours later, drop all the kids off to the ex's. Do some studying, Pick up said kids and watch the match.
  9. Sandhurst to Reading every day. Go via the 329m & M4, and generally traffic is good. Then take a bus from Madjeski Stadium into town. Leave home at 8am, drop kids off to breakfast club/childminder and usually sat at my desk at 9am. Back roads are awful as clogged with mummies dropping their little darlings off to school and A33 is a nightmare. Not sure what it will be like in a few months as they have just started work to improve J11. May need to rethink my journey.
  10. We said the same thing, but my dad decided to try them again this time  We were booked to fly to Spain with Laker when they went bust, but had plenty of time to rebook My dad isn't covered by ATOL but luckily paid by credit card so should get his money back from them
  11. Just thought would put this on here. Went into receivership this morning. Link to website: http://www.xl.com/ My dad was booked to go to Turkey on 22nd Sept. Luckily have managed to get an alternative flight with Thomsonfly this morning. Apparently thousands are stranded abroad
  12. As informed by my plumber it is actually more effective to have the hot water on 24/7 as it costs more to heat it up again if you have had the water off during the average working day. My dd's are electric £57pm and Gas £28 pm 1 adult, (sometimes 2 )and 3 kids in the household
  13. Ok I am under 50, rapidly approaching 40 but enjoyed reading that. Was more or less how I remembered growing up. Especially getting changed under a towel at Lepe! My mum used to bake cakes but I was not allowed to lick the bowl out as she didnt want me and my sister arguing (think it was just an excuse to have the bowl to herself ) Collected the golliwog stickers and badges, even had a golliwog doll. Favourite place to play... the gravel pits. Happy days indeed
  14. And single parents like me. I have 3 kids, work full time and have to count every penny. An extra £20 a month is a lot to find, and it's not just fuel bills that have gone up. :smt091:mad:
  15. 24/35 not bad after 19 years. Makes the 3 questions I had to answer on the highway code seem easy
  16. Fail. Driving too fast, too close to the person in front, braking late. and thats just according to the bf
  17. Really shocked me when I heard this. How can anyone leave a gun, yet alone loaded when there are kids about. Although we can all say that in hindsight. How many of us parents have left something which is potentially dangerous, i.e a hot iron on an ironing board to answer a phone/door. Ok not life threatening, but could cause very serious injuries. I am not condoning what he has done. I am sure that he will live regreting his actions for the rest of his life. He has paid the ultimate price. That said how any person could have a weapon when they have kids is beyond me. If it was one of my sons, I dont think I would ever be able to live with myself. Thankfully, none of them have had even a broken bane between them. I dread the day that they have a serious accident, and the thought of them dying before me is inconprehensible (sp) RIP Little angel Rashid
  18. T'was Gers for me ... just to keep the bf happy
  19. Poshie72

    Killer!

I thought he was off the pace today. It seemed like he was always second to the ball. This being the first match that I have seen this season it is hard to judge but felt that something was lacking in him. Will wait to see him play a few more games before I write him off tho.
  20. Get well soon Mick and Jack. My sincere condolences to the Corby Family. RIP Tim.
