  1. Good news. We haven't had an attendance thread for at least a couple of hours.
  2. OOOOPPPPPSSSSSSS!!!!! Unless my understanding of the phrase 'not costing her a penny' is wrong, it would appear that BTF has suggested that treatment on the NHS is free - which of course it would be if her mother had never worked in her entire life, and never claimed any benefits either [because even those have a deduction for NI contributions...]. Also, why do people keep harping on about companies in the US that subsidise their employees healthcare? At least they have a choice whether or not to offer a scheme, whereas in the UK, every single employer must pay an employers National Insurance contribution - check your payslip to see how much your employer is contributing towards your healthcare...
  3. And how many of those that 'can't afford it' spunk the money that they could easily put towards health insurance on booze and fags instead?
  4. LOL. They really showed their interest against Rangers eh?
  5. Nick's worn his one out
  6. I hope we sign Skacel soon, this excitement is killing me
  7. Attacking or defensive midfielder
  8. If he was, he wasn't a very good one 299 aps and 32 goals isn't the stuff of legend.
  9. The beardy bloke is standing on his toe.
  10. LOL How would you get from Newcastle to Carlisle - the opposite side of the country?
  11. Make a confidential call to the Environmetal Health Department will sort that one out. As for everything else, it should be in your contract of employment Since you don't have one, have you tried asking your employer for one? Even a casual employee will have a contract stating they are a casual employee. It may be the case that your employer has got a contract for you - although this should be signed by you!!! - but is keeping it safe on file somewhere so it doesn't get lost. If all else fails, why not find another job? Oh, and if you have less than 12 months continuos employment, you have very few 'rights' in the eyes of the law anyway.
  12. We only have a wet trade because people want a drink with their meal. Suits me though
  13. I've never been able to read sarcasm
  14. But cycling is just a mode of transport
  15. Maybe it's the man [or type thereof] that is attracted to the car :smt102
  16. Yes. Sales mix = circa 65% food, 30% wet, 5% machines.
  17. 1. Someone to make the beer - raw materials aren't free 2. Someone to deliver the beer. 3. Someone to serve the beer. 4. Associated costs; heat, light etc etc. 5. Profit - everyone has a right to make a profit right? In the old days it used to be circa 78% Gross profit - selling price less cost price, but not including wages, bills etc etc... These days it's more like 61% Gross profit And these days we have minimum wage to deal with which eats in to the net profit big time
  18. Absolutely true! Which is why the smoking ban is not responsible for closing pubs down. It is lazy, bad publicans looking for someone to blame because they are not very good at running their businesses. There are numerous 'solutions' to cater for smokers and entice them into the pub. And Ponty, you should try being on the other side of the fence, when the non smokers sit outside and then complain there are people smoking all around them as if I should do something about it. I usually politely request they move inside to the non smoking area if they are that upset.
  19. The reason is simples.... It saves money In a business that loses as much money as RM, then saving money is essential. You see, they've already paid the postman to bring the parcel to your house - which is what they're paid to do - and it's not their fault your not in during the working day, hey they can make it to your house during working hours, so why can't you, it's not like you didn't know they were coming....oh... So, now you have to go to the Post Office and pick up your parcel, who cares if this inconveniences you? At least they don't have to send the postie out to your house again which will cost them time and money. What's that you say, you'll be getting more post tomorrow anyway....Take your logic away
  20. Is it the ball that was hit by someone on an airport runway? Travelled over a mile IIRC...
