We have won the race for Phil Jones?

Unless your name is Theo!

JWP & his annual time to "kick on"

Do you think he has the ability to do that? -
Like how the OS got a dig in about the blue few. Stating about their faltering promotion push and the fact they finished ten points outside the promotion places!
-
Surely going to start the season as number one
-
Impressive if it comes off. Wonder what our sales pitch was? Leaving a time like City for us is certainly a different challenge.

I don't think a move will help his England chances at all. He's clearly behind Rice and Phillips in Southgate's mind. Also Henderson is above him just due to the fact of who he is. Like others have suggested, I don't think he's quite good enough for City or Liverpool. Probably not a big enough name for either Chelsea or United. Spurs and Arsenal maybe, but anything underneath that and it's just chasing the cash. -
Whoever sanctioned that four year deal should be held accountable. He should have never had been offered four years.

We could quite comfortably offload all of those apart from Salisu

Guess the point I was trying to make was that we don't always need to look for young players with re-sale value. Not advocating that we go and get a team full of geriatrics, but it would be nice to deviate from our business model when the right slightly older player becomes available.

2022/23 Fixtures - Spurs (a) First

Think it just goes to show that the Premier League doesn't give a fuck about the other clubs outside the top six. -
Yeah, get that, but for an extra 3.5m we could be in the running for Henderson. Just seems are almost fanatical approach to re-sale value will be our undoing
-
That would make a lot more sense. Henderson for me is exactly what we need at this moment
-
It's a gambe. They obviously feel that Bazunu is going to have a bigger re-sale value in a few years time. Personally I think this is the wrong strategy, at £20m Henderson would provide the stability and presence we need from a keeper. Basically, he isn't an unknown quantity.
-
If this is true, we should be all over this. £20m for him is peanuts.

What's Kompany getting the Burnley job got to do with Saints acting in the transfer market?
-
He went for the money on offer. An extra 20 or 30 thousand a week made the difference. I think he knew that a top 6 club was never going to come in for him. All felt a bit rushed at the time and it seemed that Villa were the only club in for him
-
Luckily bar a few, we haven't been affected that much by these yawn fest matches. No doubt come the start of October we will look like we have already played 40 games already
-
Agreed. Surely we can find better and fitter
-
I wonder if it has anything to do with reputation. Notice Arsenal have just spent three million on some 19 year old Brazilian. Not a huge outlay even for us, surely some of the talent would be worth a punt at those prices.

Just noticed that the fixtures are due out this coming Thursday. What's the opinion on what would be a decent start fixture wise for the new season? Preferably, would fancy a home game against Leeds, Brentford or Everton, if away maybe Wolves or Villa. Not keen on meeting any of the promoted sides too early, as they tend to still have that feel good factor. Going to be a strange season with the World Cup break in November/December. Not sure when the best time would be for facing the top six, either after the World Cup or the few weeks leading up to the start. Personally, if we have to have any of the big boys in the opening weeks would rather face Arsenal and Man United rather than Man City or Liverpool.

Would be happy with that

McCluskeys and New York's, legendary places. Schooner's too in Ocean Village. Or if we were feeling really adventurous, Burbanks
