I suspect as others have mentioned, we wanted Bertie to take more of a backup role in the coming new season. We can only surmise and say that he wasn't happy with that, and maybe his people advised him he could be back up at a bigger club and pocket a tidy sign on fee in the process. I fully believe had we signed a left back in the January window, Bertie would have been quietly pushed aside.

If we didn't want to upgrade, why were we so intent on trying to sign Brandon Williams? Pretty sure if we got him on a six month loan he wouldn't have just sat on the bench.

Milk

Am sure if we wanted to keep him that much, we would have reached an acceptable compromise with him so that he stayed.

Think this one should be filed under thanks but no thanks. Wouldn't be an upgrade on Bertrand in my opinion. Think we should be looking at players like KWP who haven't seen it all and done it yet. Motivated to better themselves and not just looking for a last pay day.

As I said on another thread, if my nine year old did that in his team, the manager would hook him straight away. Totally unacceptable for a so called Premier League player.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Lee On Solent Saint replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I take issue with that. Vestergaard has been shit on a regular basis since he returned from injury. No pace, weak in the tackle and bizarrely the tallest player we have yet he gets beaten in the air far too easily. Stephens is extremely limited but at least he actually looks like he is interested -
I don't think it is. The calibre of player that we need to improve this squad aren't going to come to us. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that Diallo and Djenpo haven't improved us as a squad. We need proven players that have experience at the top level, not players who have had a handful of games in the French and Belgian leagues. Sure, we may get lucky with a couple over the years, but we need to be able to attract better.

Reasons why we won't get relegated next season
Lee On Solent Saint replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
For a so called professional Premier League player that is appalling. My nine-year old plays in the Eastleigh mini league, if his manager saw him standing there with his hands on his hips like that, he would be hooked straight away. -

Sell. If someone offers 20m would take it in a flash. -
Sadly, we don't have the pull to make the signings required even if we did have that money to spend. Players aren't going to want to come here anymore, and who could blame them. We lack leadership in every department, from the pitch to the boardroom.

He's a pile of shit. No better than Stephens to be honest
-
Absolutely. I wish Kat would just come out and admit she just chased the pounds and didn't give a fuck who she sold to
-
Do we actually know if the owner is interested in us anymore?
-
Let's face it, anyone with even an ounce of ambition wouldn't want to play in that team.
-
Back five as a whole is so weak. Excluding KWP, possibly Salisu as he is out of position.
-
I'm done with Ralph. It just beggars belief.
-
If the result stays the same, we would have lost 19 games this season. That's half our games. Absolutely shocking.
-
Trouble is West Ham have been pretty average. They haven't even had to work hard for the two goals.
-
He is safe as houses
-
It's not going to be any better next season though
-
I don't rate Vestergaard at all
-
Fuckin shit. No wonder we have conceded so many goals. Too fuckin soft and so easy to score against
-
Is this an indication that McCarthy is the undisputed number one?
-
Got no issue with Bednarek playing. Would have liked to see him alongside Salisu . Vestergaard for me is the one who should have been dropped.
