  1. OK Agincourt ordered from Amazon today, will probably take a few weeks to get here. I love all historical books not just the Medieval History (blame my History teacher, although Schama has not helped either). One of the most interesting books I have read in the last couple of years was The Times Great Lives, 20th Century Obituaries. Sounds a bit morbid but found it really interesting to be reading about Coco Chanel along side Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. I have the Great Vistorian Lives to move onto next, more obituaries from the Times. Will definitaly let you know how I get on with Agincourt. Please also feel free to PM me with other good historical reads you come across.
  2. Last time I ever remember being top of any league was around Christmas 1983 or 4 . Bad winter and think we won against Swansea when no one else played. Keegan was playing for us that will tell you show lowing ago it was
  3. So Oxo on the bench with Walcott, who left four years ago. says it all for me really.
  4. Exactly this ! if you want to put lots of music and video on it you are going to need more than 16GB. I have the 64GB version, lots of music and fair bit of 10 hrs of video (spend a lot of time on planes and trains) , it is about 1/2 full.
  5. Gordon Strachan's is alright as is Brian Clough's. For other sports I also found Laurence Dallagio's, Valentino Rossi's and Marcus Trescothick's quite a good read
  6. Said a few times Fonte is the one I am waiting for. Only player other than Lallana and perhaps Lambert that picks himself
  7. I would go with this to. Think Chappers has been brilliant in the two games so far, and gives us a bit more bite in midfield. Also Adkins comments about De Ridder needing to learn to track back means he wont be risked from the start in what I think is a tricky away game. Can see De Ridder being used last 20 mins though if we need an impact player or a couple of goals to the good
  8. Sorry but can't help but laugh at some of the hysteria on here. The debate about us being a "selling club" whatever that means. Manchester United wanted to keep Ronaldo but he went. Rooney would also have gone were it not for the 250k a week pay packet. Arsenal look like they will struggle to keep Fabregas and Nasri. Lets also not forget they lost Henry when they wanted to keep him and how long can they keep Van Persie if Fab and Nasri go? so would like some one to name a club that is not a selling club. Only club I can think of is Man City and they keep trying to sell Adebeyor, Bellemy and wright-Phillips just no one wants them. Every club is a selling club if the price is right! What I think is quite ironic is that if Oxo does go to Arsenal he will effectively be competing with Walcott for a first team place and with de Ridder may not even be first choice with us let alone Arsenal. Also as some have pointed out Oxo is not what arsenal need now. Can see Arsene coming under increasing pressure particularly if they start poorly. Oxo is likely to be the focus of all of all bad feelings on this. Already seeing links to forums of Arsenal fans who are well and truly ****ed off. £15m if correct is an incredible piece of business for us. let's not forget that this is reportedly what Man Utd payed for Ashley Young a full England International and in my view one the most under rated players in the Uk. Finally as for the prat that compared Cortese with Lowe. I really do wonder what some of our fans want. I have watched for years us sell our best players. Shearer, Flowers, Bale, Walcott, Davies etc all the money from those sales disappearing and bring in **** to replace them. Speedie, Dixon , Fuller, Forecast. This is the first time I can remember where the quality of players we are bringing in improves the squad. Cork is a great signing. De Ridder looks promising. for me I would rather look at what we spend the oxo money on than worry about him going. Nothing against Alex or his Dad, like you and I in our careers we have to do what we think is right. Good luck to both. But at the same time, wisely spent, that money could bring in one or two cornerstone players to our club for years to come. We survived Shearer leaving, Walcott, Bridge, Beattie and Bale I am sure that Oxo leaving will not see the end of the club either.
  9. I have been to two or three. Agree it is one of the best derbies. Very intense. If you are in the Rangers end do not wear any green. Anywhere. I would also compare the intensity with a Saints v pompey (not the noise though) the only difference being they get to go through it 4+ times a year, every year and whoever does the best wins the league. We go through it on average maybe six or seven times in the last 20 years. Don't think my body could stand doing it four times a year.
  10. I signed up for a VPN services costs about US$100/ year. The one I am using is http://www.scothosts.com. Two basic services, proxy or VPN, VPN is slightly better, webstites believe you are UK based
  11. Having said that the lastest video of the West Brom game is a bit annoying, obviously the editing guy has got a new toy. Ended up turning the sound of as the boing noise everytime they cut to a new clip got bloody annoying. Sure the novelty will wear off though and we will get back to a proper commentary on highlights
  12. As another Expat, I think it is well worth the money. Been particularly impressed with the amount of content going up in the closed season. Seem to remember last year there wasnt so much. Will get a few more live games this season on the telly here but for me still worth the investment.
  13. Does anyone know when Fonte's contract ends? IIRC he was signed on a 2 1/2 year deal in January before last. Gives home a year to go. In my view just as important if not more important than both Hammond and Morgan
  14. All the young dudes. Odd one as was written by Bowie but originally recorded by Mott the Hoople. Bowie's version is far better as is Bruce Dickinson's
  15. Anyone here familiar with Koh Samui? Are there any bars likely to be showing the Leeds game live?
  16. I think it is well worth the money. We get virtually no coverage of anything outside of the Premiership here on TV, although one of the new channels will be showing Championship games. I will still subscribe though as I think some of the interviews and stuff they do a great. Been really impressed with the close season stuff this year. Far better than last year. Like others say though I am looking forward to when they do live streaming of video

    fleas

We have been using Frontline on our two Siberian Huskys for years, no problems. Also seems to keep the ticks away as well.
  18. Here here the guy really is an Arsehole
  19. Football Fixture 2011-12
  20. If you have an iphone or ipad there is a free App available that allows you to download the fixtures of any English league team and puts them into your calender called Football Fixture 2011-12
  21. For those of you too young to remember what a great side we had in the early eighties. Think this was the year we finished runners up in the old first division. Steve Williams with a couple of great goals in this one
  22. Paul Williams was appointed in the coaching role. Steve Williams was a classy right/central midfield player that came through the youth system late seventies and early eighties was gutted when he went to the Arse. Did win the first of his five or six england caps with us though
  23. Steve Williams or Ivan Golac
  24. Was probably trying to kick him and got the ball by mistake
