    Block One

Ah great memories. The away fans would sometimes try and take that section and remember the guy with his crash helmet always turned up 15 minutes before kick off, Dougall I think his name was and with a few of his mates, any away fans under the Toomers box were in big trouble. Segregation !! What's was that. The Northam yoof of today are mere amateurs !!!!! On a serious note though, speaking now as an OAP, thank goodness stadiums are a much safer place to visit now than in the old days. I shudder now when thinking of the old terraces and human waves that carried us down flights of steps without our feet touching. That's why to some of us oldies the safety officer getting his knickers in a twist over a bit of banter from block one when the away fans are separated anyhow does seem.a bit excessive.
  2. Earlier this week the club got fined for their accademy recruitment procedure when signing a young player. I'm probably jumping to the wrong conclusion but with Danny Butterfield leaving with immediate effect just wondering if the two are linked.

Thanks Billy for your write up and attending the meeting. Also here's the Echos write up on the meeting. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23211404.southampton-fc-fans-meet-saints-block-closure-st-marys/
  4. It's Lincoln we're playing, mid table Div 1 not Man City !!! Are we that desperate for a bit of inspiration. Then again, ummm yes, you could be right. 🙄

I know we are very accommodating to away fans but inviting away fans into Block 1 is probably a step to far !! 🙄

And I think there's a few even older in Block one who were originally from the Milton end (before it was the family center,) under the Toomers chocolate boxes when it was the place to be seen if you were 'ard'. Wonder what sort of meeting Toby and his security guy would have had if he'd been around in the 60s and 70s, they would have probably closed the Dell !!!!

Looks like season ticket holders in Block 1 and 2 are being consulted and invited to a meeting with Toby Steele on what to do next. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23192986.saints-discussion-block-1-closure-st-marys/ Anyone going ? Be interesting if the new head of security ( ex Millwall I believe) is there telling everyone they must sit down remain quiet and not goad opposition fans !!
  8. Got some friends coming down from Lincoln for this one, Premier inn booked for them for Wednesday night, oh dear !!! Let's hope we can change the booking.
  9. Well, we just matched the World champions, indeed outplayed France for much of the second half and but for the penalty miss who knows. As for not very good at football, runners up at the Euros last year, think there's a lot worse teams than us.
  10. It worked , always does 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  11. Apparently his wife's great grandfather played for Saints. Don't suppose he's still around and available to play up front 🤔 Anyway it's certainly one for the historians to look up.

    Claude Puel

Naughty , naughty reviving this thread. The mere sight of the topic headline will have sent panic through the masses. 🙄😄😄
  13. I've never read so many nice things about Ralph on here as I have in the last few hours. !!!! But yes, time was up, thanks Ralph for your hard work and loyalty. As others have said 'those' two big defeats must have dented his confidence and put doubts in his mind, players would have sniffed that out, now we move on.
  14. Hereford 1. Pompey 0.
  15. My first ever autograph was Mickeys. . There's some great story's about how his football world and horse racing world clashed both in his and Laurie Mac's books. Not many have been so successful in two sports. Enjoy your well earned retirement Mickey
  16. Think we've seen very similar sentences before recently on here.
  17. I was in block 3 and there was a family sat in front of us, quiet no problem, enjoying the game, and a woman next to us started asking everyone near her are you Arsenal fans. She asked the quiet family and the young lad on his first visit to a game innocently said Yes, should add he wasn't wearing any colours so you would never have known it as he sat quiet but I think the rest of the family were Saints fans. That was it, she screamed for a steward, 'throw them out, Arsenal fans shouldn't be in here' . Well officially of course she was correct, but here's an instance where common sense should have prevailed. If anything had kicked off who would have been to blame??
  18. Ralph and our coaches got hold of them, showed them the playbook and it all went downhill from there.
  19. I like the description by Alfie House in the Daily Echo of the transfer window. Sport Republic and the Saints hierarchy were unsuccessful in adding a supercar but did bring in a fleet of reliable and promising motors while trading out some of their old bangers.
  20. 2007 ? 🙄. But yes, as you say, not just a good player but everyone who has met him says what a great guy he is. Always has time for the fans, takes nothing for granted. Even on the err .... let's say sometimes critical Saints Web !!!.... he escaped the usual grief over the years that the forum is famous for 🙄. Unusual in today's football climate but hardly ever heard a negative comment about him. A great farewell video from him. A Saint through and through. Good luck for the future Oriel.
  21. Just seen another identical post
  22. Should be quite easy to identify the Manc guy in the away supporters enclosure with the second flare. He didn't throw it, he stood there holding it for about a minute so every security camera in the ground could zoom in on his face.
  23. Not often I leave St Mary's after losing and pleased , well ok you know what I mean !! but so many positives to take from today. Thought all our new signings were really good. Adam Armstrong really starting to look the part as well, just needs a few goals. Shame the Utd idiots got in with the flares, so much for the searching the bags, poor ball boy in front of them nearly choked . !!!
  24. According to the Daily Mail someone called Hewlett scored our third and final goal in the 88th minute. Err !!!!! 🤔🙄. More reason not to believe anything you read in the papers I guess.
  25. Ralph's obviously having input into the relay race. 🤔
