Intrigue...Personally I'm not surprised. Any idea who?
-
Can you really blame Ross over recruitment when his boss, Les Reed, had the final say.
-
I think he would add to the squad and possibly the team- so don't write him off just yet. He is better than some of our squad players and would be working under a v good manager. So, if the terms are right, I can see this possibly happening. If not, then I still wish him well!

ON the thread someone mentioned their goal was offside/VAR would have disallowed it. Was it?
-
Shane Long finding form at the right time- another the Boss is improving. Imagine a whole pre season of confidence building with hjis pace. If he learns to score the sitters, he'll be awesome!

First game at St Mary's in over 2 years..with my lad Sooo much better than previous.so. Won a lot of tackles in our half having let them have it at their back. Great display of team and everyone e knowing their job! Next season expect top ten.

Looks a fantastic stadium. I wonder how the lads felt playing there! At least we scored (3:1 loss)

The early 80s saw great football from Saints. Characters and crafters and some super goals. Happy memories of seeing consistent wins. My son still struggles to believe we came second only to Liverpool. It seems so unlikely now!
-
And yet it wasn't the strikers that gave away so many goals from leading positions! I'm not disagreeing, and we clearly were in for Che Adams ... But it is a team game and some are only stepping up now.

In last 10 mins- Valery shepherding the ball out- great play when we were under pressure...and Long with his great hoof to relieve the pressure to get us time to re-organise. Also blocked some crosses towards the end. Well done lads -

Pleased for players- hard work all week- and win...a manager at last! -
HA- made me laugh after a hard day!

Stay up. For the first time in 2 years we have a manager who wont pussyfoot around. Shape up or ship out. We will lose some, but I'm confident we will turn the corner and catch up/pass the other mediocre teams. I don't expect miracles, so it may take a few weeks, but it will be evident on the pitch. Confidence will rise and I'm surte the players will start to believe in themselves AND each other (those that haven't been shipped out!)
-
Interesting read- thanks- sounds great- finally a manager who won't accept mediocre/poor!
-
Dear oh dear- what a sad lot of comments. It will take 6 months at least to improve the squad and for RH to stamp his imprint. Whether we stay up or go down, the club will be in better shape by the summer. My guess is that there will be an upswing in Jan/Feb as training will be less interrupted by games and confidence gradually restored. I believe he will improve the players he wants..whilst others are shipped out/loaned/reserved!

No no
-
I reckon he'll be gone after tonight- no evidence- just a feeling... only my opinion. As for Davies- at leats he was here in Poch and Kooman's time and knows the fitness levels that generated a more confident team...although probably several weeks before any fitness change in training translated to a Saturday.

Ranieri? Where are these rumours...
-
Get Wenger in as manager ..then appoint DoF.
-
Try for Wenger! Go for it. Would lift the whole place. Or Vierra.
-
Sadly...in some ways...about time. Remember his positive contributions...and look ahead. We march on!

Managers - who are the options? Ranieri ( at least would garner respect), Bruce ( no fool- good at getting promoted from Champuoinship, Howe (may be difficult to prise away), a foreigner in the mold of Emery or Tuchel, a recently retired player in the Lampard/Gerald mold? Surely there is a better option
