  1. A signed photo of Osgood and Stokes with cup in bath at wembley! Given as a gift to me by a ggroup of children I taught ... in the last couple of years! Happy pic!!!!!
  2. Very good article- written by someone who clearly knows his stuff!
  3. Plenty of time yet... predict 2:1
  4. Well, the WBA squad will now have to cope with a hugely enthusiastic and in form Rikie Lambert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will win 3:2
  5. I do wonder why England don't have more strikers in the squad- I'd take Lambert and Carroll... but my guess - if all are fit, is Rickie will be dropped... so if he only gets one cap WELL DONE my lad!
  6. Difficult- but I'd go for Cork as player of season and Shaw for young player.
  7. I suspect KD wanted to stay for a variety of reasons, not least to avoid uprooting his family. Perhaps he took a pay cut, but spread it over three years to provide that stability whilst he aslo worked on is coaching badges.
  8. Great idea- still can't believe it! Has any other club done this? I've never heard of it over the 40+ years of following football. My message will be added!
  9. Billy knew OD well- probably very anoyed now. Will Billy come back in Jan?
  10. Brilliant player- saw him in his later years- legend
  11. As a youngster on a contract at Saints they would:know the expectations, have a home base, be on a great wage comaped to peers outside football, have opportunities to play in Prem- see that it won't stop England managers picking you (AL clearly being closely monitored) and be part of a successful team. They will notice that various "youngsters" have departed to man C etc and are stuck either on the bench or not playing. I reckon most would choose to stay and play until they were mid 20s at least when they can rethink their position, but still be able to command a highly promising fee and be more likely to start matches in the first team of their new club. But hey, that's what I think!
  12. He also has a fit squad with Shaw and Cork - both playing well, and Ramirez... class act. Confidence rising!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NA is a great manager!!!!!!!!!
  13. Clean sheet would do wonders to the defence too
  14. Keep calm lads
  15. We need some luck!
  16. Perhaps WGS will be brought in to assist our manager- on a short, season long contract with a view to help, not destabilise? WGS or Joe Jordan would both help, I feel sure
  17. Would now be a good time to bring in Joe Jordan for a month to boost the coaching. He's highly qualified, been v successful at Spurs and can frighten the players into pulling their socks up!!!!!!!! A wise, premiership ear for Nige to learn from without losing the authority. After a month Joe rejoins HR at QPR!
  18. Um... we're only 1:0 down with 45 mins left- come on- I've played in a many a gamw when we turned it on in the second half and won...cheer up guys!
  19. Great news about Ramirez and Cork- just a little concerned if the friend has given a little bit too much away by saying who's replacing who...not that I'll care if we win! (A draw wouldn't be the end of the road- WBA are no pushovers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  20. "I tried to give fringe players playing time" - result... some will never play for Saints again! NA will not play second rate players who can't rise to the challenge- bye bye to Steve and Chappers amongst others- NA will, if given more time, now become very ruthless- no more Mr Nice Guy!
  21. The poem he quoted I haven't heard before... and it's so important! Being true to yourself is something that shouldn't be undervalued. I too hope he's here at saints for the long hall- 3points on Sunday will go a long way to easing the stress all round!
  22. How ironic- was watching the "Move" video (!) from 2001 when we played our last match at the Dell... and doubled our gate the following season! We had to move and did- and maybe expansion will follow. By all means remember the good times, but there were dispiriting defeats too- and the surroundings looked pretty dismal after a defeat! I still expect the surrounding areas to Saint Marys to improve over the coming decades...we're not exactly in a boom period are we?!
  23. Personally I think he's a brilliant manager and have done since he was appointed. I don't want any old has beens in charge. Who would we get that's so much better- from the Prem? I'd have Sir Alex Ferguson, Wenger.. or Moyes (perhaps the only likely one out of the three). I honestly wouldn't want any of the others, including Mancini - because I don't think any of them are any BETTER than our Nigel. No, I want him(NA) on a long contract. I love his signings- made I'm sure with lots of discussions with a "buying" team- recently- and believe that we will surprise a lot this season and be in the top ten- nearer 6th by the end of the season- (see my prediction before the season started!) I love his positivity...it's catching!
