Paris, with the man advantage had more of the possession at the start of the second half. But with only a header that could have been on target to show for it. VA were the ones to get a 1 on 1 only to see yet another chance blocked by the keeper. Then the key moment of the game. Paris had a free kick from just over 25 yards out. As they prepare to take it, a VA player falls to the ground. I didn't see what caused it. Nor did I see the Paris player sent off do anything. He seemed very upset by the call. The free kick is pushed onto the post, goes back across the goal. Two Paris players line up, only to be denied by a great sliding tackle. 7 mins later, 3 VA players queue up to not get on the end of a header. Later, an excellent chance falls to the VA striker. He had been looking for such a ball earlier. But when it came, his touch stalled him and one footed ess lost the chance. Thankfully, El Hamedy, managed to do better from the same area to put VA ahead. He had been VA 's most industrious, so deserved it for the work. Massive relief from VA. It was such a surprise it took a few minutes for the TV scorecard to realise VA had scored. No real concerns for the rest of the game. The ref seemed happy for a lot of physicality, so the game flowed better as a result. VA clearly wanted a win more than we've seen recently. Paris did put together the better passing moves for a while, but eventually VA got some planning to their play. There were some limited performances. But a number of those were the ones putting in a shift late on. They kept it together with 10 men, and finally capitalised on a chance. Whew! Lots to do, but a return to the right direction.

Goalless at the break VA had plenty of the ball, and a number of chances. From a fun, very long range effort to catch out the keeper, to two close range blocks and a free kick pushed wide. Another pass across the box for a tap in was blocked. Paris put together a couple of nice passing moves. But then started to give the ball away cheaply. On around 37 mins, they played a nice through ball, and a VA player got sent off bringing down the attacker. The free kick took 5 mins to take, and included a sub over half way through that. So 10 men need to get a home win. VA played cautiously to get in level at the break. They didn't venture forward. They're going to need to find a way second half. They didn't take any of their poopotunities, and may pay for that.

Beeb's 5 Live victim shamed Kirk. "A lot of people found what he said highly inflammatory. We can't forget that piece of the jigsaw puzzle, can we? We can't just eulogise this man. You have to understand that, to understand...and it's no excuse, why certain people.. (pause) but this kind of rhetoric can inflamed tensions, can't it? We can't just brush that under carpet, when we look at him in the round. A thrown in, and it really sounded like that "and it's no excuse". And starting down the sentence that was going to say that since he held the views he did, you can understand why certain people reacted. Like a lot of folk, I wasn't familiar with him beyond the name coming up once in a while. I see there's a list above, of which at least one has been debunked. Regardless of his views, this was an unjustifiable murder. Another been low point as they can't contain their dislike for a Trump ally. The other day a celeb was a controversial figure according to them. The reason given? He'd met the vice president. Dreadful stuff.

The manager asked the fans to be one with the team. So, providing no entertainment was the obvious first step. 🙂

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

They were going to hit the ground running with it. Rather than crash into the ground, and burst into flames with no sign of it. -
Crystal Palace v Southampton on YouTube at 2pm this Sunday, for anyone still sober enough after the mens team's earlier crushing victory.

This is with a massive run up. They had been holding lots of meetings to firm up their strategy before getting into power. -

Phase 2 has got off to a flying start. -
I'm definitely not suggesting it will go from 4k to filling out St Mary's. Simply that promotion leads to more exposure, more fans whether just for big games or not, and more lucrative commercial deals. I don't know of WSL payments for being in the league, but there might be something. One of the follow up questions I put was "If it's currently running at a loss, would promotion offset those losses?Dunno, but could very well be a no." Which was there to indicate the increased revenues might not be massive with promotion, because I wasn't thinking another 20k supporters would appear for every home game. The busier lower league atmosphere and ground was definitely a big plus when I started watching women's football. Like the men's game, a match played out with no atmosphere makes it less of a draw when it's not your own side.

But still with a week where a win counts double and one where the mascots play up front (a bit of a bonus for us that one)? 🙂

Do clubs not just send it on with every transfer?

Can't believe they've leaked our 26/27 away and third kits so early.

Manage Southampton on Football Manager 2026

Your club gets taken over by Tom Hanks to rival the Fox version of FM26, where you get taken over by Ryan Reynolds. -
Despite having issues, it's a lot less "wrong" than plenty of other countries.

A SaintsWeb search on Google shows thread titles of... "If I see another cooking programme, I'll go postal!" and "Extremes you'd go to, to see more of Nigella" Undermining your risk assessment. Bad Benjii! Bad! 🙂

I am not a nod! Yours sincerely, There's definitely more pennies from attendance and commercial deals from promotion. decent follow up questions would be Is that increased revenue a lot relative to the men's PL? No Is the increased revenue going to make SFC Megabucks in the short term? No If it's currently running at a loss, would promotion offset those losses? Dunno, but could very well be a no. I do like women's football (from thinking I'd not be bothered), and don't mind a bit of piggy backing on the men's facilities and revenue to see more of it. I have also read Inverting the Pyramid, so every day is a battle against noddiness. But I think I'm fine on this one.

He does?! I've got to remember the extra "I" in "Benjii" and stopping thinking the posts are coming from...

Well done Azaz, for acclimatising so quickly to the Southampton way.

If you follow the emojis vs threads in chronological order, it's actually in morse code. Let's see... "Whelk is a" and that's where we're up to today. 🙂

Still early, when it comes to resurrections. Be patient.

I think the only question is whether trump was aiming to graze his ear and missed, or begrudged the thought of Kirk being more popular at some future point and couldn't help himself.

Poster most likely to receive all the NHS bedpans as a shit load. Poster most likely to turn this into a fertilising opportunity. 🙂 -
Some quick thoughts Does it work at St Mary's? Yes, they are able to play football there. Does the club make a loss? Dunno. Do I care if a loss is made to support a women's team at a community club? No Are we talking about unsustainable losses jeapordising the viability of the whole club? No Is there scope to make more pennies? Yes, promotion to the WSL for a start. Do I think the atmosphere is better in a packed stadium than a mostly empty one? Yes Would I use that to tell people they couldn't play in a larger stadium? No Am I proud to have a women's team to support? Yes Is it elite sport? No, It's the level below the top women's league. A promotion away. Is it good enough to play at St Mary's? Yes
