  1. It should be the case that South Yorks Police hand up complete files otherwise they will be asked about missing elements which will dig a deeper hole for them. But I wonder how much support youngish politicians like Andy Burnham will get from the older Civil Servants in the Home Office and South Yorks Police.
  2. Well, you'd better be quick on your toes as I'm sure Ess is counting the offers!
  3. You just need to take on the mantle of Ess's site and make it your own!
  4. I know. You had your own sub forum for a while. That's worth a fiver!
  5. I think Stuey is an attention baby. But I like the idea that he's spitting a dummy out over his fiver!
  6. I'm very pleased to see that the current government is asking South Yorks Police to open up their files which has never been demanded before. Obviously current politicians have no qualms about this as their hands are not dirty but it has taken the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster to make them consider it, which is wrong.
  7. Drive around in a Saxo with music blaring out.
  8. What a prat. Though he's on the high life. 26 years old on a Liverpool contract given to him when they thought he might be good. 7 appearances in two years in minor games. Now they can't shift him anyway. Not sure he wants to show his face about Liverpool now though.
  9. Dieppe is a crap hole too.

I won 7-0 but my rivals also won 7-0 and 9-0. Looks like I will have to win away on the last day at the team in top place. They are better than me so need to do some thinking!
  13. I assume they will lose the one-time value of their shareholdings as there will be nothing left after the creditors have had their payments. Lowe may have paid nothing because of the original reverse-buy out but Wilde will lose his cash purchase value of the shares. And even Lowe had to gear his nursing homes against the buyout in 1996. Though I expect he clawed that back pretty quickly and obviously he will have made plenty in salary as chairman over the years since.
  14. Not that it is their role necessarily but I am sure it is worth the council's while to lend 500K to SFC as a short term measure whilst other plans are made. If only to stave off a total crisis in the short term.
  15. Simply as a deterrent to stop other directors of football clubs playing fast and loose with money. That much is obvious. Luton got deducted 30 points for both admin and irregularities. That is the right thing to do. On the face of it we should get 10 points deducted courtesy of fools like Lowe, no matter how we hope some lawyer will prevent it.
  16. Depends on whether SMS is viewed as an asset or a liability. To any new SFC owner it could be a liability, to the council it might be different. Man City had an interesting deal when they took over Eastlands/CoMS from Manchester Council after the Commonwealth Games. The Council took a part revenue from tickets that decreased over time but paid most of the capital and operating costs for a while too until Man City were in a stable financial position to take on the costs themselves. It worked for both parties as Man City were not overloaded and the council didn't have a white elephant stadium on their patch.
  17. There's a delicious irony there George. And this will be the same left wing establishment that pre-empted a demonstration today at Eon's Ratcliffe power station by incarcerating 114 protesters before they even got underway, I take it?
  18. Obviously I'm aware that you think I'm an eco fanatic George. However the work I'm doing currently with Drax Power is interesting. As a FTSE company and operators of the coal-fired Drax Power Station that is the largest power plant in the UK at 4,200MW capacity which generally supplies 7% of the UK's power (although it can go to 10% if required) Drax fully recognises climate change and how fossil fuels add to that. As a consequence they are working to upgrade operations to reduce carbon emissions at the plant by 17% as well as investing in new biomass plants they wish to develop. From the Drax website at http://www.draxpower.com/corporate_responsibility/climatechange/ We believe that it is imperative that we deliver measured responses, based on sound economics, to the challenges presented by climate change. We fully understand the threat and support the move towards a low carbon economy. However, we are mindful that in order to make this transition, the country must have a stable and secure energy supply if growth and prosperity are to be sustained. We have an important part to play in managing this transition and delivering a low carbon future. The central theme in our submission to the Government’s Energy Review was about improving our environmental performance to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). We now need to combine the security of supply benefits of coal-fired generation with environmental improvements. We understand the threat of climate change and know that we will only have a future if we positively address our environmental performance. In making the transition to a low carbon economy, the UK will require a stable and buoyant economy to fund the necessary changes, fundamental to which is a secure energy supply. We have an important part to play in managing this transition and we are keen to play our part in delivering a low carbon future.
  19. They're just a simple rock 'n roll band who do it extremely well. Nothing wrong with that.
  20. I am the same. The initial reaction of government ministers and the right wing media of the day was a disgrace and just showed how out of touch they were with the vast majority of football supporters. By contrast the grace shown by the people of Liverpool was astounding. It's easy to take the **** out of Liverpool stereotypes but that was a city that displayed immense dignity in the face of outrageous slanders at the time from the establishment.
  21. I was a student in Liverpool at the time. Will never forget it. Had housemates who had gone to Hillsborough. They came back and were white with shock. A fellow student had his g/f die that day too (one of two sisters to die). The aftermath seemed to go on forever. I went to the Everton-Liverpool game that was the first league game they played afterwards. I was in the Gladys St end with the Evertonians. The Liverpool fans at the other end unfurled a massive banner that said "Liverpool salutes you. We never walked alone." Set quite a few people off around me.
  22. Obviously I expect answers like nothing my dog would puke on. But they are touring and in Manchester in two weeks. Sold out and a big ebay trade. Probably their last live shows. I might go to £150 if I can get a ticket.
  23. Ponty is a ghost though.
  24. I think Rattle would have been chucked out of the michelin after he had a fight with the maitre'd. Possibly about semantics - "red wine sir?" "pils please". It would have entertained me at any rate as I shoved my snail porridge around (as well as giving me the opportunity to drop the fancy but unwanted cuisine on to my neighbour's plate).
  25. A bad workman blames his tools. But so would a good workman if he had crap to work with.
