This is not restricted to football. I have been to hundreds of gigs over the years since I was old enough to go at the end of the 1980's. Gigs have gone the same way, fecking camera phones filming everything. The exception to this rule in recent times have been The Fall and Sleaford Mod's who I assume attract mid 40-something's like me. As for the football. Pffffffftttttt I've been slowly losing the faith since promotion. I was ever present at the Dell from mid 80's until moving to Uni early 90's. Then mainly did away's. As others have mentioned fell in love all over again when we dropped down the leagues, league 1 was amazing and reminded me of my first match-going experiences. Now, back to meh. I watch mainly on my stream box as I can't justify the expense anymore as priorities have changed. I may be in a minority but I'm just not having much fun when I attend matches anymore. The general buzz seems lacking. I know my close friends feel the same, many of whom still I've in the area unlike myself. Oddest thing ever seen at football. I've mentioned him before: celery man on the Milton circa 1986/7

Not sur if same game but he was with Marilyn from Home and Away (his lady friend at the time). My lady friend had a good natter with her in the bogs at half time! No wonder it didn't last if Matt treated her to the away end at Cov. Apparently she is really down to earth.

My email to the club concerningpre-game music and atmosphere

I had a dream ages ago that we invited The Skids down to play in the centre circle at the last game of the season as part of the build-up to kick off. For that briefest of moments Saints would be the coolest team in the world. -
What's he been saying, not on FB

It's threads like these that expose my complete loss of memory of the championship years. Old age I guess. Or maybe I commit the wins more than the losses to long term memory. I remember league 1 far more.

Yeah like I said, apart from the 3 goals I wasn't worried defensively, neither were Saints. Shame.

Utterly devastated as we were clearly the better team. We looked threatening, created chances, defended solidly (with the exception of all their goals). In no way did we deserve to loose the game. However, loose it we did and that's that. Immensely proud of the team, they couldn't of played better and on another day (probably 40 years time) we might win something again. Annoyingly I doubt I will see it but thems the breaks. Well done all at the stadium, barely heard United fans all game. Fuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccckkkkkk

Is that Paul Allen's yacht? I spotted it last night just off Calshot :-)

He was a surprise addition tho, I recall he never let anyone down.

Am I missing some forum irony here and this 'Turkish' chap is in fact the face-painted fella we've seen on our screens in recent months?

Sam Gallagher injured? Not in the Rovers squad. Edit: would appear so tater just mentioned it, must of missed that,

I'll be honest, for an old post-punk fan like me I'm going to struggle chanting a Barry Manilow song :-) Surely something by The Fall can be shoe-horned in ? (I realise I was championing a Dean Martin tune earlier on in the thread)

There will be absolutely no excuses for them not to press the life out of United. This is effectively a mid season break. I don't buy the crap they will lose sharpness. When I train for marathons the taper is as crucial and important as the hard miles that preceded it. We should be well rested both physically and mentally and be able to out run and out fight United. No excuses. If they manage to match that and use their undeniable higher skill then you have to hold your hands up and say fair enough. I firmly believe we are in with a good shout.

I think you're on to something... First verse: They preferred Higuain Back in old Napoli Poor Manolo Come to St Mary's Said senior Les Reed Please Manolo then your chorus repeat x2 with the the refrain That's Manolo That's Manolo Might challenge a few though with the subtle Dean Martin pitch shift :-)

Having lived here for over 20 years (more than half my life) I have grown not to hate them :-) I always liked the history and the great teams they developed. The heritage and honours they have gained is unrivalled. The obvious dislike comes from the plastics but United have always had that mass following. From the influx of Irish immigrants to the cockney reds firm. They have attracted fans far wider than the confines of the M60. It should never cloud the fact that it is a religion in this city. Both clubs are massively supported here by fair-minded, in my experience, supporters. None of the above affects my desire to beat them as when we do it will always be massively against the odds. They will always have a more talented team than us. Up the Saints! Edit: forgot to mention the teams I do dislike: Portsmouth - because they have this built-up hatred of anything that originates from Southampton and they're not even sure why = thick c*nts. Spurs - they are some of the worst, arrogant, confrontational fans I have ever experienced. Horrible club with horrible fans.

Edit: just seen the thread relating to jrod news?

He's getting 'noticed' too! Seen on a few 'big team' forums he is being discussed favourable. Seems like a thoughourly decent human being tho so hopefully he stays put. -
Deserved!

Loved Jose. Loved the fact he dropped down to league 1. Admittedly he probably got a pay rise to do so, even back then. However, he has been immense and a mainstay of our defence. Leyton Orient away sticks in my mind. We took thousands up there, won 0-2 I think with Barnard notching, but it was Jose who ran that game. In the same way VVD does sometimes in the Prem, those league 1/Championship games Jose bossed them. I distinctly remember telling my mate at the Orient away game that Jose was playing wearing slippers. Awesome, all the best Jose Fonte Baby!!

The fact that there are forum celebrities is a concern, mostly for them. Some posters are posting at an alarming rate. I do worry they are not getting enough vitamin D. Although I suppose they could be outside on wifi. I am still in favour of random forum name generators. Although some posting styles would be 'outed' almost instantly. I think this tells you all you need to know really.

Nuns? I'm on tethered iPhone as my broadband is MIA until next Wednesday.

Agreed. The agency involved phoned that one in for sure. Shocking piece of graphic design(sic). Good luck to Morgan tho. Classy player who will get back to his best playing every week.
