  1. You know as well as the rest of us that one or two players were not doing so well under MP. Hooiveld, cork and Clyne to name three who found they no longer had a guaranteed first team place. Other left on transfer on loan. He was a test manager but you can't keep everyone happy so the optimists will always see a new manager as an opportunity for some to prove their worth.
  2. The key is there are no quotable sources. Lallana always struck me as a good honest loyal bloke and I'll be gutted if he leaves. Disappointed too as I expect more of him.bafter all those famous quotes when he signed a new contract. Even if he's not impressed by the new board that's hardly justification for throwing your toys out of the pram. He should give it at least six months. That's about as far as my vitriol goes.
  3. Allegedly. Still unconfirmed sources.
  4. Lallana cannot leave - he's not even on the SWF banner yet. Hold the phone. Is this the real reason he's asking to leave....??? This is spot on BTW. At worst we should hold on to Shaw and Lallana until January and even then only let one of them go.
  5. Callum Slatterly the next big one apparently. Arsene Wenger says so.
  6. He doesn't. But he did say he did not want any player having 'distractions' once the World Cup starts.
  7. I just don't get it. Swap a non European team for... ....a non European team. It makes no sense from Luke's perspective.
  8. My apologies - I thought I was in a saints forum
  9. I don't think anyone expected a young talent like that to stick around when we were relegated from the championship. He and surman were our biggest assets as we descended down the leagues.
  10. No player is bigger than the team so I'm sure we would survive without Shaw. Disappointed but we would move on. Lallana and Lovren are different. Lallana has shown loyalty akin to MLT and if he leaves after patting the club badge constantly going round the pitch last weekend I think it would be ordering on shameful. And I don't think Adam is like that. At the end of the day, right up to last season, fans were split on his value to the team. This has been his first solid season in the top flight and still has much to learn under Pochettino. Lovren, again, one season after a dubious spell with his previous club. Still has something to prove here - to himself as well as his adoring fans, If anyone wants cheering up, try going on Man U and Liverpool chat forums and you will see a fair bit of bed wetting going on over the fact they have not yet signed Shaw and Lallana. Those previously claiming done deals are starting to suspect it is all media crap.
  11. Just saw that. Delighted to see an incoming rumour - in the same league as Marshall but 2 years younger and more likely to be happier sharing the role with Boruc. So all good really!
  12. More important to get one going for Lovren and Clyne.
  13. The club has already said that they do not comment on press speculation. There is bound to be interest in players and we are bound to bat back any enquiries* as they are all under contract and we don't need to sell. We can wheel club officials out on a daily basis if you like saying the same thing but then you would just accuse them of not telling the truth so why bother. Personally I would rather they spend their time talking to clubs about the players we want to sign. Marshall at Cardiff being top of the list. *The only exception is Guly whose contract is up in 6 weeks. So a mega offer here might br tempting...
  14. That did make me smile. Not because you're writing off a shirt you haven't seen, made by a manufacturer yet to be revealed... ... But just thought that a polyester shirt mass produced could ever be described as quality!
  15. Spurs fans don't seem to keen on Pochettino coimng to them do they....?
  16. Not doubting it happens but just not good business. If we had an owner driven by their own ego I have no doubt it could happen but it's not the Leibherrs way thank goodness. They clearly see the benefit of profiling the name Southampton in an entirely different business sector with a totally new audience.
  17. Paying money to yourself isn't exactly a great business deal

    Dani Osvaldo

Looks abut like the Puncheon thread of 2/3 seasons back. Never say never.
  19. Not at all. You've just been paying attention. This squad has grown together and wants to stay together. One thing better than taking the easy route to the top is taking the unexpected route to the top. With saints. If he left he knows he would always be looking over at us with envy as we attract more and more plaudits.
  20. I'm looking to see if he caught hodgson's eye. Earlier in season he commented that he rated him but without a run in the side, he was unlikely to be in WC consideration. Interestingly, since then , saints have given him every opportunity to impress. Best game ever today in a saints shirt
  21. Man U forums don't seem to rate Lallana too highly. Not as high as JWP apparently
  22. How can such a positive story be spun negatively by give givemesport.com as 'southampton star waits for offers' and the appropriately named arsetalks.com as '£15m star confirms he'd like to be a gunner!!
  23. On the demand for pace I would love to see Rowe named amongst the substitutes on Saturday. A run out late on would be a wonderful opportunit for him.
  24. This is another club claim that had the cynics rolling about laughing (along with 'Premier League in 5 years) yet, amazingly, we are pretty much there now. We've seen Lallana, Shaw, Chambers, Ward Prowse and Gallagher all on the pitch at the same time. And still we have Reed on the bench! I really think we have broken the mould of being a selling club. Yes, there may be exceptional talents who decide to move on, but if they did not we would soon have some talent frustrated by not being able to break through to first team football.
  25. Everton looked good today. Nothing wrong with our front line. We're just a young side learning how to read weaknesses in different teams. Lambert, Lallana and the centre backs ( on set pieces) all well capable of scoring. Need to make that early pressure count though.
