  1. The only costly mistake Artur made was getting injured. Don't expect Forster to be perfect.

    Marcos Rojo

You do what you know is right not lower yourself to ther peoples standards
  3. Alpine ITK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I can already hear the cat calls coming from the Kop on 17 august, quickly followed by 'Rickeeee Lamberts, Southampton goal machine....' from the other end
  5. The green screen suggests this is just the photo shoot for Sky transmissions - hence why all the players are at the stadium.
  6. Thought Ralph came across with a lot more credibility than the studio guests
  7. Your point makes no reference to the quote at all so makes no sense whatsoever. I don't recall anyone being underwhelmed or claiming that other fans were. I think Lovren was the revelation of the season - one of the best centre backs I have ever seen (apart from the Spurs game when someone knew exactly how to get under his skin and expose that character flaw). But the fact remains that not many had heard of him when he first signed and those that did a bit of research found mixed views from his previous club.
  8. We've also been linked with De Vrij (now Lazio), Michael Keane, Davide Astori (now Roma), Lamine Sane, Stephen Caulker (now QPR), Geoff Cameron Terence Kongolo and Martin Indi (now Porto).
  9. Actually you answered your own post....
  10. To put it in context, Les Reed spke in a debate type SKY show where the discussion was about Premier League clubs loaning their youth players out to Div 1 /2 clubs for experience and helping out thesmaller clubs. Les said he had a preference at Saints to develop them the Southampton Way and that can onyl be done keeping them in house. He said it would be confusing for fans if there were large scale loans; who do you cheer on - Brentford or the Arsenal youth team? He was expressing his view though I have no doubt he had the Saints FC strategy in mind. He never ruled out individual loans - more large scale ones to support clubs in lower leagues. For me, loans with an option to buy removes an elemenet of risks in transfers so it is not necessariliy a bad thing. , I know its vogue to constantly criticise the club but I think they are doing OK. Of the departures, only Lovren has not been replaced so maybe a bit of patience is required!
  11. Are we talking about the defence that only conceded one goal all pre season?
  12. He does strike me as a bit of a journeyman who would benefit from Koeman making him feel wanted. Clearly has talent.
  13. It's been done too many times now to be funny. If you trawl back to the Rupert Lowe version - now that really was funny.
  14. Young. British. Champion league experience. England international. Hungry. Sounds good to me
  15. ...and Lovren is forced to train with the U21s as the rest of the Liverpool squad fly off to the USA. He was denied a US visa apparently lol.
  16. He was the first Chairman at SFC to introduce relegation clauses. It was that drop in salary that influenced players to move on. As Lowe says, if someone wants to leave there is very little you can do to stop them - unless you want to be surrounded by pouting children.
  17. What a spineless comment
  18. Nothing new here. Move on.
  19. The ultimate 'look at me' thread?
  20. Koeman won't resign. He knew Lambert, Lallana ads Shaw were leaving before he came here. I think he has been pretty instrumental with the others too. He has had a chance to speak to them but he is a strong manager (in the Alex Ferguson mould) who will not have any time for players who are not 100% committed. He has enough knowledge of the game worldwide to construct a new team of quality experienced signings (and youth) for a fraction of the moeny we are pulling in from sales. It will take a little while to gel but I think he is more than capable of keeping the fans and bankers happy. Sadly, players have more loyalty to the coaching team that to the club or fans these days.
  21. Les Reed will be viewed as a clown with every sale and a genius for every signing. Neither is true. He's doing a decent job on sales by standing his ground with ridiculous price tags. The incoming are generally coming to work for RK not SFC (which could leave us in the sh** if RK leaves)
  22. It's not brilliant. Of course as well as the new signings we have Cork, Boruc, Fonte, Gaston, Chambers and Gallagher who all offer something very useful to the first team squad. As RK says, by the time we face Liverpool we will have a very good squad. On a par with last season but with more depth IMO. Will miss Guly though - who I am gonig to put my pound on for 'last scorer' now....
  23. Saints team for the Sunderland cup game - Kelvin Davis ©, Nathaniel Clyne, Jos Hooiveld, Maya Yoshida, Luke Shaw, Victor Wanyama, Steven Davis, James Ward-Prowse (Morgan Schneiderlin 61), Adam Lallana (Sam McQueen 82), Guly do Prado (Jay Rodriguez 61), Rickie Lambert Sorry but that team could and should have beaten Sunderland who made NINE changes from their previous Premier League game. The second string centre back partnership was the main feaure of our so called weakened side but actually played alright on the day. It was the likes of Lambert and Lallana who were being called to question on the day (maybe their heads were already at Liverpool). I too would like to see a good cup run but I also recognise that this is also an opportunity to keep fringe players a bit happier. If you don't take that opportunity you will find it harder to secure a decent 'back up' in every position.
  24. Because you don't buy a new keeper unless he better than what you already have? That said there is not much in it so I think they will both get plenty of playing time. Boruc did keep us in the game many times last year but it would also be nice to jhave a keeper who is just as good a shot stopper but someone who can distribute more effectively.
  25. This in spades. I think this was always the plan.
