I was thinking this yesterday when I saw the OS short statement. If he was popular with the rest of the squad this will not be well received and likely cause more unrest whereas if they were as ****ed off with him as we are, they will probably be OK. I have no issue with Adam wanting to better himself. It's just his comments that hurt. He's a good player - no doubt - but not as good as he thinks he is. The real beauty last season (particularly before Christmas) of following Saints is that we had an understated manager who was personally performing and got the squad performing above themselves. We had a team that contained no fancy Dans and their strength was in their collective rather than their individiual ability. But once the 3 lions went off to join England, they started to believe their own publicity (Adam more so) and the whole thing started to fall apart a bit. NC and then MP leaving did not help. But for me the future is bright. Katerina has assembled a management / coaching team that has a high profile but again the strength in the team rather than one individual. We are left with no fancy Dans (assuming Lovren goes) but we've actually upgraded on MP and (assuming Tadic and Peklle sign) AL / RL. For me there should be a four year plan to develop this young team culminating in the World Cup 2018. Let's accept the fact that quite a few of our new players will then be on the world stage and picked up for bigger wages by someone else. So we then start again with a new four year plan. Would much rather take pride in our academy developing players than supporting a team that just muscled their way in on the transfer market with a rich Arab / American backer.

Really? You mean exactly the same training kit that half the premier league wore? It wasn't bad I guess but would be great to have something unique. Personally I always liked the own brand kit

Yes, but as with Asa Hartford (who recovered from a hole in the heart but failed to secure a transfer to Leeds), it's still on his medical record. The question is, can Liverpool get adequate insurance on the basis of it. It was not a problem coming through our academy but suddenly he is valued at £25m+ and the insurance company will view that quite differently.

Seriously, full credit to these guys. They have earned their chance and are the reason so many people are taking notice of southampton these days. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. Following their development is undoubtedly one of the best things about following saints these days.

The one on the left just has to be Dwight yorke's love child!

Would rather have pelle than lukaka any day.

We need no more than 3 in addition to replacing those who leave. Keeper, centre back and striker. As at today I would like to see that as Kolodziejczak (to replace Shaw) Martin Indi David Marshall Pelle We will almost certainly see 2 or 3 youngsters from the academy breaking through this year (in addition to Chambers, Prowse and Gallagher who I see as already broken through). Really have not seen enough of the academy since early last season but my feeling is that Targett, McQueen and Turnbull are close.
-
Really disappointed to lose Shaw as he is the greatest quality of those linked with other clubs. Not good for football to see a teenager go for so much but gives us a good kitty. If we can replace hime with Blind, Taylor or Davies from Swansea or Kolodziejczak I think we should feel pretty pleased with the business. As for Lallana and Lovren. I would like to keep them both but if they are not signed up to the vision then f*** em. There are better out there so I'm confident we could 'upgrade' in those positions as, indeed, we appear to have done with the manager. I think the others will stay. Of course I look at life through rose tinted glasses and whilst that always seems to the subject of ridicule from one or two posters I can only say it makes life much more enjoyable.

Seems to be over his injuries (mostly back in 2009)

Reading all this you can sort of see where they are coming from when they resist having a fan on the board.
-
Although worn by most saints fans it will show off the party seven as opposed to the six pack.
-
Not sure about Blind either to be honest, but we dream

I get the feeling, rightly or wrongly that most fans view the club as bigger than the players. So whilst it might be a nice statement of intent to keep all our players, the loss of Lovren and Lallana will probably result in upgrades. Possibly Shaw too. So either way the new season looks exciting. The one I really don't want to lose strangely enough (of those rumoured to be clear targets) is Morgan. Potential replacements as I see them: Lovren - anyone from Van Dyke, De Vrij, Indi (with Turnbull challenging) Lallana - James Rodriguez (Monaco and Columbia), Klaassen, Jordie Clasie (with JWP and Reed challenging) Shaw - Blind (with Targett challenging)

I can't even begin to think how that would possibly work without diluting the impact on the first team.
-
More importantly, get him to name the British ones

It was a tongue in cheek comment about sittingon the bench. I understand that they are short of CBs and probably in the market for one if not two (though I think Bartra has just signed a new contract so definately part of their future plans). Song and the Argie (cant remember his name) have played there too. My point was that of the key Saint players allegedly wanting a transfer he is one that could turn out to be a real star or simply a one season wonder. Too early to tell. But my thinking is that we ought to start behaving like a top ten club and avoid selling players that improve the squads of our rivals. Sell them abroad if they want to go.
-
Barca makes sense if only assuming that we won't be that keen to se lour best players to rivals in the top half of the table. Would be happy for him to go there and sit on the bench.
-
More likely to happen to Lovren than Lallana in my view but I agree with you - unfortunately their egos will cause them to ignore the advice
-
Apologies. I had forgotten just how bad thei back four is. Maybe I should have said they could do better. I just don't think one good season at saints isnt enough to wipe out his chequered career prior to saints. Still think there are question marks over his temperament.
-
I would expect Lovren to pick up on this and respond via twitter if not true. He's had a fantastic season with us though we saw his Achilles heal against tottenham. He is nowhere good enough for Liverpool just yet though.
-
What's it like to be Tottenham What's it like to be ****e We've got Koeman* You've got Pochettino *hopefully!
-
Thanks for posting the pictures MLG. I really think this will give a big wow factor to potential transfers. Would be funny if we actually managed to replace departing stars with even better players
-
But he didn't switch clubs did he. He just asked the same question many if us asked when staring administration in the face. Not a bad read at all. Got me thinking though. Maybe our startegy should be a four year plan that ends with top players being put in a World Cup shop window. Then we start building again with a mixture of astute signings and quality academy graduates.

That should read great manager
