The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Gloucester Saint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Sarwar about to call for Starmer to go. Can’t see how he survives this. In a way it would probably help Labour as the Mail (especially) and other red tops have been gunning for him since day 1 because he prosecuted and banged up the rogue elements of their profession, which has been further fuelled by plenty of unforced errors. Not to say that his successor will get a red carpet laid out but they won’t have that specific baggage either, and the other parties have all admitted they are a process of transition themselves. I’d advise them to go for Streeting. -

Labour left is an absolute waste of space as well, just as bad and wasteful as the Conservative ERG, or what remains (pun unintended) of it. -

To be fair to the Labour voters/supporters on here, they didn’t seem to want Mandelson returning in the first place, it was a very poor decision on top of a string of politically inept judgements, seemingly inadequate due diligence and Starmer has done what PMs have done since WW2 when they’re in the clag and cut the people around them who were fermenting a wing of their party, which McSweeney especially seemed to be. There will clearly be a leadership contest by the summer. They’ve not had any nuclear Truss/Black Friday epic fails but a leaky, piecemeal approach to governing which will grated on most people I suspect. Not really a lot anyone else can anyone can add to that 🤷 -
I was in the Northam for the West Ham game - ripper of a finish from Marco. Mixture of celebrating and astonishment.

It’s on the MOTD video I posted recently.

Dawson and Sam Curran get England over the line at the T20 WC.

Have a look at what Whitey Grandad just posted on the Other Games thread on the main board from his trip to Argentina - puts the hot dogs at SMS in the shade… -

Streeting would be the most feared option in the other parties as his quick wit would put 5% on Labour’s rating straight away despite their poor record so far and he’d shrug off any links to Mandelson. There are cross-party links to Mandelson - a snake who slivered all over the place for personal gain. It won’t be Lammy v Powell realistically, Streeting v Powell more likely. -
Alex Jankewitz wins quickest red card….
-
Shearer, THB, Danny Wallace and Rickie Lambert all scored on their England debuts.
-
Craig Maskell on both debuts IIRC and they were his only two first team goals each spell.
-
Broadly agree although had a lot of serious injuries. But if helps them stay up it’s a very worthwhile signing.

Seriously, please cease requoting him everyone and Soggy you are one of the worst offenders for it, although not the only one by any means. It’s encouraging further blatant trolling, spamming, and just a constant stream of abuse from what is clearly a very angry, disturbed and unpleasant individual, wherever ‘Nic’ actually does reside. Stick him on ignore and keep him there. -
The Moran goal is featured in the MOTD Saints 1960s/70s/80s programme I posted on a prior thread.

PIF starting to put the brakes on a bit as well, not just FFP.

They know how to perfect that ‘dog hasn’t been fed for half-a-day’ sad eyed look up there. Because they’re so passionate. Did you know how much they love a number 9? Keith Andrews has done way better than I thought he would, fair play him and humble pie for me.

Good that Tonda has turned it around again but let’s be clear that the performances, line-ups and formations at Boro, PNE and Hull home, and plenty of other games were unacceptable. He’s done a lot better than Will Still, we look far better with this formation, and with Bazunu, Manning and Wood nowhere near the starting line up. Long may the upturn continue.

Looking quite likely, their economy is going through the floor and investors are running for the hills.
-
It’s a long shot still but win the next couple and it gets interesting.
-
Yep, and that’s why their electorate are getting the chaos, high prices and low living standards they deserve. Trouble is, in the first term there were guardrails and this time there aren’t so the tariffs, constant flip flopping on foreign policy impacts everyone else via the American public’s stupidity.
-
The Democrats will reverse it in a couple of years when the current cohorts are due to finish.
-
The American people have done this to themselves. 6 January 2021 was a massive clue, the biggest possible, that re-electing that rabble was an extremely poor idea, but basic evolution failed. Democrats, especially Biden, played a supporting role. Newsom stepping up now is good but a couple of years too late.
-
Good player although even more one footed than Che.
-
At least a dozen points, probably a lot more, wasted with the Bazunu experiment part II. Would’ve been better all round for Peretz to join us instead of Hamburg when mooted in the summer. Probably spent George Long’s wages on what the loan fee would’ve been.

Crazy stuff - you don’t demolish one of the top 10 universities in the world because of culture war nonsense. China wouldn’t do it but then they’re a superpower and America isn’t any longer https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnvgv9v2vd6o
