I've read somewhere he was staunch labour until his friend in Brighton stood for the Green party and so he switched in support of her. Edit: just found the news article https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/nov/23/russell-martin-footballer-joined-green-party-walsall

No, the Chapel corners haven't been put on sale but a decent crowd (in the low-mid 20,000s expected). Much depends on the walk-ups, particularly as there's not the usual price increase on-the-day this time), that could see the corners open if required. There will also be around a thousand empty seats in the visitors section, they're bring just over 2,000 which will be a good (probably excited and noisy support). "Here for the Walsall, yer only here for the Wal...."

Bristol City just kick-off time moved by 15mins, WBA now Friday night (moved from the Saturday). Bristol is a good city for a drink, plenty of life around the river - did a weekender some time back, on one of the days we parked at the Long Ashton Park and Ride, free to park and a couple of quid-ish each way on the MetroBus into the city centre. Close to Ashton Gate and also a stop almost outside the ground so I would think handy (if not busy) when coming back out for the football. Easy walk after back to the car park and stays open til late. Unless someone knows better.

I like to have a nose on the boards of the sides we’re facing next and it’s not uncommon to see someone bring up the ‘strike-breaking’ fairytale. Amazing how some mythical event invented in a skate fanzine all those years ago gained so much traction and spread. You have to tip yer hat to them really. https://upthesaddlers.com/t/southampton-sold-out/10938 post #88

Just the 3 central blocks behind the goal and looks like they’re only selling every other row. Should make it a little more full. Chapel corners still shut off. Looking like a reasonable attendance and it’s the same price for walk-ups on match day so that will likely boost it.

Tbh, you’re not as good at this stuff as Wade Garrett I thought the club offered a refund if a fixture is moved if already bought? Harsh if not for fans living well away from Southampton.

What's happened to our away support
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to franniesTache's topic in The Saints
Thing is, this really ain’t a new thing, I started going at the start of the seventies and looked up to the fellas under the Toomers in the early years but by the mid-70s most were moving out to the West stand terrace or, particularly with the Warrens, to the Archers. These were being replaced by the next generation who appeared a different breed, for the worse. Over time when these saw where the excitement was happening at the other end and once the fences were erected, they then started arriving in the Archers - and so Jim Redpath’s “We’re the barmy Archers army” were born. These were little different to the dinlos that some are talking about today. Like other clubs we’ve always had them – just more than our fair share. -
This will be popular, new ground for many - 2,444 allocation, £27 (+ booking fee) https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/rotherham-united-vs-southampton-fc-ticket-information

Russell Martin snubs Rishi Sunak

If all the wankers stayed away the stadium would be empty…… All ‘Saints fans’ welcome imo. -
I think we all like the setup right now, replacing Edozie with Fraser must be devastating for the oppo and working very well for us but we play again in 3 days (third game in less than a week) there's bound to be some changes. This is where a fervent crowd can help carry the team. This is a complete sellout in the stands (don't know about corporate) let's see how many empty 'sold out' seats on show later. Norwich away also sold out.

Atmosphere in the Chapel (and in general)

Just seen this on the UI regards moving away fans/safe standing, franniesTache has been posting on here recently, seems reliable... https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/forum/304668/page:2/#33 -
We must be one of the only stadiums that still has clearly visible seats despite games being billed as a 'sellout', and usually the same rows at the front of the Itchen. I realise like yesterday you'll get no shows and despite being 'sold out' a number of days before many won't make it on a Boxing Day (family/travel) and the club hardly shouted about the Ticket Exchange being open. But it must be frustrating for fans that want to go but can't buy tickets and then seeing empty seats on TV. We struggled to sell corporate in the PL so it must be a tough sell in the lower leagues and these are included in the total stadium capacity but it does seem to be the same rows/small blocks of seats left empty on match days. I haven't looked but we must have had the biggest attendance outside of the PL yesterday...to go along with the biggest scoreline in the English top 4 leagues.

Saints 5-0 Swansea - Match Thread
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to southbourne saint's topic in The Saints
That was a pretty convincing victory yesterday, thought I'd just catch the highlights on the FL Show and relive it a bit - well down the pecking order and just the goals, and Swansea will feel it was "harsh (at 4-0) and then it got worse". As said "flying under the radar". -

No it’s not, that’s even more braindead than all the constant skate shit heard from the dinlos. Sadly, take away the songs about the third division fookwits and there’s little else in the repertoire. -
Plymouth and Swansea sold out a couple of days ago but the ticket exchange is open if anyone needs to offload tickets. Swansea away went on sale and lasted a couple of days, sold out to season ticket holders. Norwich away also close to selling out for NYD.

That Hansa support looks a bit geeky but good away numbers and noisy. In an ideal world you wouldn't need all the organised European stuff but there's nothing over here anymore, it's a mess - but it does piss off Klopp so that's one good thing https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67782829 -

Do they all phone each other in the morning to see what everyone's wearing? -
I was having a little nose over on a Rangers board earlier and did see this... https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/304394/away-fan-friendly-pub/#21 I'm sure most will be drinking all over central London before tubing it to the Shepherd's Bush area

Not putting many off, mostly just single seats remaining scattered around the stadium - Boxing Day* (*Trousers to the front desk please) also close to a sell-out, would have been already if Swansea hadn't sent back so many tickets, Blocks 43 and 44 now on sale to home fans.

Oh fuck, another one...... -
Maybe he no longer has the 'zip' required for the PL but I'm convinced he could have a big impact at this level. Not against, in fact I'd welcome it, but I'd have thought we'd only get near his wage demands if West Ham are massively subsidising them.

Most weeks I have a little browse over the opposition's forum to get a feel to how they see the fixture coming up, one thing you do notice, all messageboards have the same moaners, bullshitters and fuckwits. But one standout is that the majority of these Championship fans really dislike RM. Most don't rate him or his tactics and he's seen as arrogant and a bit of a *insert your expletive of choice* and only doing well as hie's got a big money squad. I like him, he's been through a bit in his time and I can understand rivals views - I can't lie, personally I don't find this football 'exciting', it's effective with these players most weeks in this division and you can't moan too much with results/league position but I did think I'd enjoy this season more than I actually am up to now.. -

He did while throughout playing for them against us but it stemmed from when he played for Blackburn, think Ossie got sent off up there that day. ”Bailey, Ba-ai-ailey, Bailey come and he wanna go home” Edit: fanimal said it better!
