Bristol City 3-1 Saints - Match Thread
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Harry_SFC's topic in The Saints
I did post this in a thread about games moved for SKY a while back but can't really say if suitable on a match day - sounds like Igsey lives there so may be able to either confirm or recommend something more suitable -

Well, after scoring...for a bit. But yeah it was what you like to see and hear inside a football stadium. And the Northam was far better yesterday helped by the fact we had fans in the two blocks sent back by the visitors who were more keen to get involved than what's happened before - other than the first few rows who were made to sit by stewards, everyone stood. It also helped being a lot closer to the Itchen North so there was a bit more joined up chanting. Weirdly just under 30,000, when I looked on Friday there were less than a dozen single seats available scattered around the family stand and was complete sellout by Saturday morning, you couldn't buy a ticket. Capacity of St Mary's is around 32,000 with a usable 31,500 due to segregation netting, they only had a small section that wasn't full but even knocking off a bit of corporate (which is included in the capacity) I can't see how there were 1,500 empty seats yesterday. Leicester, West Brom and Huddersfield, 3 best sides at SMS this season. -
Don't know what you're looking at, West Brom sold out in about a day.
-
I’ve never seen this before, just fast forward to 8:45, that’s limbs for ya! We had all of the blocks that night that we’ve currently got on sale at the moment, so would have had around 4,000 there in 2017. Edit: and those *cough* ‘scousers’ do like a half-and-half scarf at Anfield

Tbf, nobody is safe from Wade Garrett’s tongue, N, S, E or W. He was probably more uncomplimentary of Plymouth and the Taffs - things is, the more derogatory he his the more goals we score. Shame to stop him now. -
Up to 5,500 tickets https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/liverpool-vs-southampton-fc-facup-ticket-information

How hard can it be...... -
If this goes ahead and they move the away fans then the Itchen North as it is now will no longer be attractive, those that stand there will either follow to where the aways are housed or if they want to continue to stand, will have to go over to the Northam safe-standing. They won't be doing all this and then tolerate standing in seated areas and that will rule out the areas either side of the aways (if in the Kingsland/Chapel corner). But I'm still struggling a bit to see how this works logistically, it's said it will be the upper Northam (as in orange) but surely this would also require an area of the KIngsland North being made safe-standing. If it's only up to Block 40 in the Northam then those seated towards the back in the KIngsland blocks 37-39 wouldn't be able to see the corner of the pitch by the Itchen North, blocked by those standing in the Northam. Surely they'd have to stretch into the KIngsland so sight lines aren't interrupted. But that could at least be an option for the displaced Itchen North crowd, you'd at least be separate from the "noddies" and you'd also have a far better concourse than the what you had in the I.N.

What's happened to our away support
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to franniesTache's topic in The Saints
FFS don’t encourage our dinlos, they’ll all turn up looking like ‘Where’s Wally’. As long as it’s not changed to a stupid-o’clock kick-off then I can see a lot going up. Didn’t we take 5,000+ up there for a league match some time back after some website rallying call and the momentum just grew? One of my best aways was at the old undeveloped Ewood Park for a FrIday night FA Cup game in 1984 - I’m sure there were a few lads that post on here there that night. -
On the bench for Juve tonight at the San Siro

Unless there's a sudden upsurge in ticket sales over the next couple of days then St Mary's will look a bit roomy for this one. Looks like they haven't bothered opening the Chapel corners again and sales slow in most stands. Watford still have plenty of tickets left from the smaller allocation, blocks 43 and 44 will be empty in their bit. If we were to get through then I recommend numerous viewings of Shane Long on that Anfield night back in 2017 to get the blood racing.

Rotherham 0-2 Saints - Match Thread
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Realistically Leicester are not chucking away enough points for anyone to catch them. They’ve probably got a more ruthless edge to them, scoring 5 away in a midlands derby - we should have been 4 or 5 up by halftime in the last 2 away league games but have relaxed the pace and intensity second half. Not complaining, it’s likely tactical as we could probably up the tempo if required. And yesterday Vik the Viking was their MOTM (in both fixtures against us -unfortunately for them they’ll lose him in the summer) but the ratio of chances created to converted could improve. -

We had 80% at St Mary's but still only drew - Rovram 0 Savampton 4 ...I can feel it in me bones -
Juve away to Inter tomorrow, won't feature of course, but Milan...it could have been Rotherham Charly, what were you thinking......................?

I think we can all see where this is going if certain PL clubs don't get what they want come the end of the season.
-
I often peruse the oppo fans board just before we play, as much these days to see if Wade Garrett has had any bites, the Rotherham board ain’t the busiest but I did see this on there which will probably impact over here https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2024/jan/27/misapplication-of-laws-var-error-leads-to-full-replay-of-anderlecht-genk-belgium

A couple being offered up over on the UI https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/forum/305878/there-might-be-a-spare-ticket-for-rotherham/#2

Dinlos, they are the "dominant club in the geography". Dorset is their geography and they are doing better than Poole Town, Dorchester and Weymouth. Thick little bumpkins.

You can certainly see why they were so popular with the young lassies ….if you look closely once seen can’t be unseen… -
Aesthetically that would look a right dog's dinner. You can only really get away with having one towering stand along the side. Moot point though as ain't happening for the forseeable. The only possible option for moving the away fans is to the Chapel/Kingsland corner as coaches could be parked on the industrial estate but it still gives a massive issue for getting them back for the trains. No easy solution. Where they are now is clearly the most suitable location. To get over having to watch away fans bouncing around on the TV as they score another late winner (particular if we get back to the PL) I'd find a way to stick the TV cameras in the Itchen. And if the players and coaches on the home bench are pissed off copping an ear full of the away's volume put some new dugouts in the Kingsland. In reality none of this is going to happen is it...

As we’re edging towards 90mins this weekend, I can see no harm in a little nostalgia in recognition of 40 years… ”Steve Moran, Steve Moran, Stevie, Steve Moran, When he hits the ball, he’s bound to score, Stevie, Steve Moran”
-
A bit uncanny that the 40th anniversary of a particular 4th round victory falls on exactly the same date as this year's 4th round for us. Shall I....? Shall I....? ....oh, go on then

And now even more reason to make them available straight away as all half-season-tickets put on sale in December were completely snapped up. Demand will only increase from now ‘til end of season.

Unless it’s the cup aways are in the corner at Arsenal. Liverpool had behind the goal there with the bigger FA Cup allocation recently…..and beat them.
