  1. Being an old geezer I'm a bit old school, nothing beats the edgy atmosphere of the 70s/80s imo but I've got no problem with this. It's the only time large swathes of our crowd get a bit animated - and going on how so many join in it looks like the majority of (match-going fans) are onboard with it.
  2. They came up the year before and reached the Championship Play-Off final (lost to Luton). Some injuries but one of the fancied sides this season I believe. Between 1,600-2000 going up for this, I salute you, this is the third time we've had Sunderland away with a 12.30 kick-off in recent memory, somebody fucking hates us in tele land.
  3. In a Geordie accent I would think it's more.....EIEIEI-OIL One of those fixtures you want to see both sides lose.
  4. That was a bit bizarre, in block 14, we were fairly close by. A couple of mates missed out today as it was a ‘sell-out’, wait till I tell them 😄 Downes and Fraser made an instant impact, Fraser showing a real tenacity right down in front us. Happy days.
  5. As you say, was showing as an entire sell-out earlier. Been keeping my eye on it waiting for the ticket exchange to open as got a couple of mates now looking for tickets, but 1 ticket in the Northam and 1 in the Itchen North have just suddenly appeared if anyone's looking for just single tickets. I'm sure there'll be a few left peeved when they see the usual empty seats at the front of the Itchen on TV later yet they couldn't buy tickets.
  6. We've won two and drawn one, great start to the season, selling out home and away (2 tickets left in the family centre last time I looked, which will no doubt go!) but not enough to keep some of our week-kneed drama queens at bay. Ralph Fastenbüttl sums it up excellently, if we get to September and go on a losing run and playing poorly then vent your spleen, but keep your powder dry (and your bed sheets) and enjoy the moment. too many grizzling over what 'might' happen.
  7. Guess he may debut next week, will be interesting, best part of 40,000 Mackems screaming in his face. They do like a Mag round there.
  8. Playing at AFC Totton, can see them getting a very good attendance there - according to the UI, free entry for Saints and Totton ST holders or £5 on the gate (quid for kids) https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/southampton-u21-vs-liverpool-u21-ticket-information
  9. There was around 400 tickets left* earlier with well over a week to go so I'd imagine we'll shift a few more yet, particularly, if it happens, on the back of another good result Saturday. *unless they still have more blocks to put on sale
  10. Heading for another away sellout, initial 3 blocks sold out, all but one block of the additional two remains of the 2,000 allocation. Gonna be a big one, looks like they’re expecting over 40,000 for this.
  11. This ‘loyalty’ malarkey should probably work both ways
  12. Indeed, of course I should have added, in that scenario
  13. Yep, very unlikely. Seeing out his days sitting on a bench on £ms a year is not a bad lifestyle for a 31 year old tbf.
  14. I wouldn't be against it but, understandably, we could never satisfy his salary demands with the PL contract he's on. The only slim chance would be if he wants to play regularly at his age (injuries allowing) and accepts reduced wages but guaranteed generous bonuses with goals scored and additionally with promotion.
  15. 'Roxy Saints Do The Strand' could be seen adorning many a subway around Southampton back in the day.
  16. Did he mention who was in the frame?
  17. I feel pretty relaxed about it all, must be an age thingy, and reckon we're in a pretty good place right now. We weren't getting players in before others were sold, it's no secret we're trying to trim a bloated squad. If some of the sales going out fell through and had already brought in new faces we could have ended up with an even more bloated squad and some big earners still around and in a bit of financial schtuk. If no-one new in a couple of weeks then I might raise an eyebrow.
  18. I'm old, been up for hours...I'm on my third Milk Stout already 🍺
  19. Well let's hope so as there's a good song waiting for him (or anyone else we may sign who's name ends in 'o' ...Aribo need not apply ) There was something in the air that night The red and white, Joël Piroe They were singing there for you and me For victory, Joël Piroe ...and repeat
  20. Tbf, I don’t think they are. Just had a scroll back through out of all the posts I counted 2 saying we’ll win, 2 for a draw and 4 saying lose. Tough one to call tbh.
  21. Noticed this when I went on for QPR tickets, not seen it before, but could be handy to know if you book in larger numbers for group discounts https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/group-tickets On a side note, a question was raised in a 'fans advisory panel' meeting that followed the forum last night and it was mentioned that Block 1 could be used for safe-standing. That would be a fairly small area so I guess that would be bolted onto making the entire Northam rail seating?
  22. Looks like still work-in-progress. Noticed as we walked past the Kingsland on Saturday that most of the steelwork is still dirty, working their way round from the Northam. Some of our fans seem to like cramming too many syllables into chants that require less. There was talks to introduce rail-seating into St Mary's this summer, relegation probably scuppered that but if the Chapel continues to gain popularity maybe that end could see the return of standing.
  23. We chucked in our STs a couple of years back and now pay-as-you-go, usually Kingsland North but went to that corner of the Chapel as £20 seats, surprised to see so many old faces there. I think this is going to prove a popular option at this price and the atmosphere will continue to improve as a consequence.
  24. We were sat in the Itchen Chapel corner Saturday not far from that section and it was a decent effort, as you say, kept it up for most of the game (even if a few had to keep chucking in reference to the skates on most chants 👎). You can see the Itchen North getting animated but can’t really hear them from there and although Norwich only had a third or so of the Northam they came across far louder than the home fans in that stand - I guess as they were directly in front of us at the other end? Decent effort though, mostly just towards the end of the game.
  25. They did give us one lower level section after we sold out the top tier last time we were in this division, quite heavily policed though!
