No doubt old enough to be your dad you soppy fuckwit. It was never "belted out" at the Dell, just a very small bunch of 14 year old dinlos trying to act all aggressive and then singing about growing strawberries. What the fuck was that all about
-
This is why a lot of opposition fans just point and laugh at our 'support'.
-
And this is why I'm kind of glad our fans don't sing much, anyone uttering weird stuff like this deserve to be held upside down in a vat of warm marmalade and have their testicles removed with a blunt instrument. And die "howwibly, howwibly".

If this is true then you have to tip your hat to Brighton for holding out for what they value the player at. Poch should jump straight in now and pick up an equally top player for half that amount but will be worth £100m within a couple of years. Figures like this and they're quibbling over 2 or 3m £s.

There was only a couple of hundred tickets left earlier but Norwich have now returned Block 43 so a few more up for grabs - looking like a full house. https://tickets.southamptonfc.com/selection/event/seat?perfId=10228529227812&ot=0>mStepTracking=true&_ga=2.1807994

I’ve got a sneaky feeling JWP had his winning send off on Friday night, not ITK, at my age I’m more Circle of Rust than C.O.T. Got a feeling (particularly after last night) a compromise will be made with WHU in next few hours. Still looking forward to getting back inside St Mary’s on Saturday, expecting a good contest - hopefully they don’t get any corners or free kicks around our box, too much to ask?

Gillingham 3-1 Saints - Match Thread

They're luring us into a trap, I tell ya...hopefully more Newport away than Grimsby at home. -
I think spurs are just sniffing a potential bargain with West Ham (possibly pretending) to lose interest. They may believe we could panic and let him leave for a lower figure now rather than missing out on a sale. Hopefully the club and JWP are all perfectly happy to stay together if no sale materialises. I've seen reservations mentioned about his age but anyone signing a 28 year old JWP is the equivalent of signing an 25 year old, but with more experience. With his fitness levels and almost injury-free career, he could play at the top level to well into his thirties.
-
They're not that daft. They got a brand new stadium for free that we all paid for, held out...and held out...until they rinsed Arsenal of over £100m for one of their players (he's very good, mind) and one of their players won us the World Cup once, don't you know. And Prowsey could very well be one of those players that just keeps going and going with his dedication and fitness, certainly to well into his 30s if he wants it.

The top tier holds over 4,000 but new safety restrictions mean they're only allowed to sell 2,400 so plenty of empty seats above. Still over 3,000 up there, great turnout. Very good performance, that's a Tella goal for me, hopefully wants to hang around. To wind up Burnley maybe we could get a little Specials chant going "Freeee-eeeeee, free Nathan Tella" -

I did wonder the significance of the time showing on the Civic, that explains it! Hopefully it's not trying to get back into the game. From the moment they start playing 'Hi-Ho' over the PA the crowd will be pumped up, new season, newly promoted, chance to turn over the fancy-dans down from the PL. First 10-15 minutes will be crucial, if we concede early could be a long night - I'd like to think we'd get at them quick but can only see us ponderously trying to control the ball around our box early on with the inevitable occurring. Happy to be very wide of the mark! -

The long trip back was no fun, as shit as coming back midweek from Derby in the play-offs. Hope so, everyone standing probably helps. By 10pm Friday night we could be top of the league, joint top or.........bottom. -

Ahem...four 50 tickets left, last few will probably go tomorrow. Hopefully get a decent bit of noise going, will need to give it some volume as their lot will be raucous early on first game back up. When we took 5,500 to Sheff Utd a few years back those of us in the upper tier didn't have a clue what the support was like down on the lower, hopefully a bit better togetherness on Friday. -
I think both will go and I think we’ll get what we value them at. There’s no real rush from either side, it will go nearer end of window, each just waiting for the other’s knees to buckle. But I think we’re in the driving seat and it may even end up in a bidding war over Lavia. JWP to West Ham eventually. With regards Walker Peters, somebody’s going to get a bargain there imo.

They've spruced up the outside of the away entrance, the locals have noticed that it now sports an arse-eating owl! -
You read it well. I think it really does depend on who we’ll sell and have lined up to come in. If this happens as ‘rumoured’ then I’m confident (but can see it mostly in last few days/hours of window) if little changes then it’s battling for play-offs. I’m quietly confident those now pulling strings will get it right.

If a player gobs off, slags the club, withdraws effort or just downs-tools to manufacture a move I can understand him getting abuse. But players like Elyounoussi who are guilty of no more than just not being good enough for that level should be immune to vitriol. He didn't continually pick himself, he just did the best he could when picked, it wasn't good enough but he's a reasonable player at a certain level like at Celtic and like before we bought him. Good luck to him, hope it works out.

From memory don’t think they can mix and they’re probably pretty strict on fan movement in that stand with past history. Both tiers will have a lot of empty seats due to safety regulations but we’ve now got the 3 central blocks in the lower with a further 300 on sale. 3,100 in total, not too shabby for a 400-mile round trip on a Friday night. -

Yeah, not far from where we we stood in the bottom corner, the only space on the terrace that you could move. did every round that year, all away, Forest, skates, Blackburn (Friday night) and Sheff W. Good days out. -

Shankly had just bestowed that nickname on us when I first got into it, my uncle used to drink with some of them (even a night before a game!) and that's what he always called them. It made a lasting impression on a young nipper. Been to Sheffield many times over the 5+ decades I've been going, both Wednesday and United (I wasn't there that day but some may have heard the story about Coombsey's Commandos in the 70s at Brammall Lane!). I've tried to find footage of when we went to Hillsborough in the FA Cup in 1984, live on the BBC but an estimated 10,000 made the trip. We had the entire Leppings Lane end, something like 4 or 5,000 in the seats in the upper tier and even more rammed on the (infamous) terracing on the lower. Only a brief grainy video but the game itself was fairly dour - replay was better. -

Nice one, I only counted 9 left when I was on last night - and believe the ‘oldies’ bus pass is valid all over the country. That would make one long away trip if you used it all the way to get there! Cheap though 😁 -

Looks like they’ve given us less than 500 seats in the lower tier so will look a bit naff on TV. Even though, like the top tier, the capacity has been cut for safety reasons I think they usually let around 1500 in the lower, seems strange if they only allowing us a third if so, unless they’re still hoping to sell some to home fans? -
It's time we gave it back to the sea.
