  1. I was!
  2. That Frattoniser bloke protests too much if you ask me. He sounds as if he is foaming at the mouth! It's like someone who goes on and on about hating gays .. you know that deep down he is actually very insecure in his own sexuality. I'm beginning to think that Frattoniser is really a closet saints fan. He just is frightened to admit it to himself. (Or have I just inadvertently outed one of us who has been in 'deep cover' for months? ---sorry) I still can't get over how few posters there are on POL. Surely there must be some bigger forum somewhere? I know we call them the blue few, but ....
  3. Yes, that's fine. On the basis of that firm guarantee, I will now buy a football club.
  4. No. You've got that back to front. A fiver there equates to nearly £2million in pompey pledge sums, but no one expects you to actually pay it.
  5. Errrm given the OP said "former/present youth players are currently active in professional football above conference level." ....I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned James Ward-Prowse etc! Looking at that list, it reminds me how hard it is to judge the potential young players. I thought Kayne McLaggon was going to be as good as Walcott, and he's only just about playing in the FL, in fact he went non-league for while didn't he?
  6. Yes but pompey claim it does not mean that they can sign for anyone else after they leave. They'd be stuck in limbo, unemployed and unemployable, until the January window opened. It can't be correct though, surely? After all clubs can loan players in that time. It would surely be a 'restraint of trade' ?
  7. More seriously this is exactly the sort of option they should be exploring.. Liquidate PFC (2010/2011/2012/or whatever it is now, ltd) and set up a new club , initially ground-sharing with Havant or whoever, then building a small (say 6-10k?) stadium somewhere else with council help, as they climb back up the non-league to maybe one day re-entering the FL, say by about year 2020, and then stabilising as a lower division team, and then maybe even with occasional exciting short forays into the championship for the odd year when things go really well.
  8. Are you sure he didn't just hear something about pompey going to the dogs ?
  9. I believe it was I who first suggested £1 million a year in rent (though no doubt someone will correct me!) What I hadn't realised was that Chainrai is obviously a forum member and got the idea from here. Ought I to get commission? And which user name is BC's I wonder?
  10. I know exactly which posters you mean!
  11. That does not exempt them from TPS rules. If a Uk-based company, report them. I've done this before now. It does have an effect. The only excuse Uk companies can use is if you are already a customer with them, and they are supposedly talking to you about your contract or similar. It's the ones from abroad that you can't control, since they are outside the TPS's area.
  12. Works very well with UK-based sources in my experience, but international callers ignore, as the law is unenforceable outside of the UK.
  13. the 4 cases ,listed as 'tests' do seem quite different from each other. eg "Registrar Lilian Ladele, who was disciplined after she refused to conduct same-sex civil partnership ceremonies in north London" ...seems to me to have a weak case, since if she believes so strongly in the christian marriage, she surely should not be happy marrying anyone outside of a religious ceremony? Her whole job is against her beliefs surely?
  14. Worth noting. Thanks for posting this. If accurate and yoshida can play LB, this could be our short term solution -- I reckon Fonte is a better CB than Fox is a LB (defensively to be fair. Fox is ok going forward) , so we might do better to put yoshida at LB until we sort out a longer term solution.
  15. Im my brief but glorious spell on POL, I was gobsmacked by how few posters they have. The 17 that were listed earlier as being on-line is quite typical. Anyone, including many who are clearly genuine pompey fans, who dares to even hint that the trust is not perfect or who dares to hold as view that is not the party line is accused of being one of us, or paid by chainrai, and either bulied into silence or banned. POL is effectively a very small group of people with identical views and very narrow minds...even by PFC standards. Where do portsmouth fans get their info? Even The News seems to know more than their fans' forums. I know we've joked about it in the past but seriously there is better, more up to date, information about pompey on here than on their own forums.
  16. If you google 'Bill Gillon twitter', you get this as the second entry, fully in the public domain ...... Bill Gillon. @PompeyScot. Fareham, Hampshire. Scottish Pompey fan, owner of POL, work for central government, lead business and systems analyst and ................... just saying like.
  17. The fans online board is the one that colin farmery 'owns' isn't it? Interesting that he has let that thread run, with no comment from him as the trust's current offical spokesman
  18. It's not often you see the words 'pompey' and 'principles' in the same sentence -- at least not without the word 'lack' in there too!
  19. Haven't been to Oldham for donkey's years so the ground might have changed , but I can certainly testify that the old open end there was by far the coldest place in foootball when the wind blew.
  20. This is perfectly understandable if you renew their monthly contracts, but is surely can't be true that if you choose not to renew the contract of one of them he will be stranded , in limbo, out of work and unpaid, but unable to sign for anyone else until January? So a player who is with a club and is secure, can be loaned from whenever the loan window opens, but a poor sod who has been conned into signing for PFC on a monthly basis can be put in a postion where he cannot work, at the whim of Appleton?
  21. I expect you're right, but my point really is ---- doesn't this mean that the medals in reality go to not necessarily the best blind cyclist, but actually just to the one who is lucky enough to persuade a really good sighted cyclist to be his/her pilot?
  22. Think you're on your own with this view mate. JWP held his own well yesterday ... just as well as chaplow or any more experienced player would have done.

    Luke Shaw

Yes and what is more we targeted him in that game ...putting long balls in to Rickie on his wing. On that basis I had severe reservatrions about Clyne when we bought him. So far he has proved me very wrong. Fox however I've watched for much longer of course and to me he has never looked any better than Harding. He's fine going forward but has poor positional sense and is far too prone to give the ball away carelessly. in fact he'd probably be better as a left-side midfield player, where he'd be less exposed defensively... but we have far better options than him there already.
  24. i've stoped even trying to read the official web site. I suspect others look at it far less often too.
  25. Can some explain the logic of the tandem cycling to me? Blind cyclist on the back, 'piloted' by a sighted cyclist on the front, the blind athlete gets most or all of the glory -- it's even officially called the individual sprint. But the 'pilot' also pedals. What's to stop Team GB putting Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, etc, in as pilots?
