This is what happens with global warming, however caused. We will get increasingly extreme spells of weather - hot dry spells, high winds, 'biblical' downpours, droughts and floods. Only a matter of time till we get a plague of locusts and frogs!

“Apart from 2 Swedish football championships, 8 Swedish Cups,2 UEFA Cup finals, a Danish Superliga, a Danish Super cup, taking Finland to their highest ever FIFA ranking, guiding Switzerland to 3rd in the FIFA rankings and to their first European Championship in 36 years, what has Hodgson ever done?” enquired one fan of being hugely unrealistic. “Hodgson may be English, but he can’t even pronounce his own name properly.” Hodgson for England With the FA insisting that Hodgson is the only manager that they’ve approached, England fans have been left perplexed that Harry Redknapp has been overlooked. “Surely Harry is the right man to take England forward,” insisted one bemused fan. “You only have to look at the clubs he’s managed and what he’s achieved.” “Okay, his only trophy is an FA Cup that he won with Portsmouth, but there’s more to his achievements than that.” “It’s all about laying the foundations for the future.” “I mean ,you only have to look at where Portsmouth are now.”

My vote increased his percentage from 16.5 to 18 so he's not had many votes yet. Come on folks!

Nice 'story' on news thump ...especially like the portsmouth bit http://newsthump.com/2012/04/30/roy-hodgson-approached-by-fa-to-become-englands-new-turd-polisher/

Frankly I don't really care how good Hodgson will be. I'm just enjoying seeing Redknapp overlooked after 'everyone', including him, assumed he was a shoe-in -- always assuming he can read the papers well enough to understand it properly. In effect his "I'm too stupid to commit tax fraud" defence in court has caught up with him IMO. It made him impossible to appoint as England manager.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

Yet we actualy targeted him at Palace as a weak link because of his lack of height, for Rickie to beat in the air and knock balls down into the area. Remember Lee Todd anyone? The opposition just used to chip the ball over his head! To be successful in the 'EPL' you have to have pace, and in defence, height as well. -
Things you will miss - things you are not looking forward to...

Will miss games on Saturdays. Man u went from the start of the season till after Christmas before they had a home game on a Saturday. Shouldn't be that bad for us, but even so ....... -
The what are you wearing to the Coventry game thread
Ken Tone replied to This Charming Man's topic in The Saints
I'll be in orangey-brown corduroy trousers, and a beige cardigan over a yellow-ish polo shirt (I'll really pleased to see these have become popular again .. mine date from 1971. They're a bit stained, but no one will notice. Live dangerously eh?) Perhaps a cravat if it is cold. The cardigan has these really fun buttons, shaped liked half-footballs, and I do like to be "down with the kids". And if it rains, a pac-a-mac on top. Not sure about the hat ....woolly hooped red and white hat, or my purple and yellow "I love UKIP" baseball cap? What do you advise? The cap goes better with the plastic bag I carry my thermos flask and blanket in, but I wouldn't want to look out of place - I know how much Turkish wants us all to do the team proud. -
About 15% interest for him

I was in amongst the coventry fans away this season (hospitality) and I felt really sorry for them then. Seemed a decent lot, and there but for the grace of god we might have gone with SISU. I certainly won't be chanting 'going down' and will happily join in with a SISU out when we are 2 or 3 up. Although I'll do so very quietly of course because I'm in the Kingsland centre.

I think you'll find dune even dresses to the right.

Won't that make it a bit uncomfortable to run?

Were you wearing a red and white wig? That would drive anyone away. OP --- I too spend far, far too much time on here, especially at the moment, but we're both amateurs compared with some. Over 5000 posts a year for the hard core, that's approx 100 a week, 14 or 15 a day .. for years on end, every day, and at times spread throughout the day too. They must spend most of their waking life on here.

Yep. I'm now expecting ads for saints-branded wool-lined slippers, thermos flasks, reading glasses, and tooth mugs. But it doesn't matter, because I'll have forgotten how they got my details.

It's having all-seater stadiums. -
What I have never been able to understand is why Chainrai got involved in the first place. He must be reasonably bright ,or he would not have buolt up the business he has. So why lend money to a sinking business in which he has no interest? I have a vague idea that it was somehow tied into his dispute with Gaydamak, but can't see the logic even so. Is anyone able to explain it, preferably in no more than 20,000 words, and without committing libel?

These Kevs in Portmouth seem brighter than the rest 64 [h=3]kev the second[/h]Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 01:35 PM @47 The ground could be sold to developers. They might have a minor struggle to get planning, but when the council were putting their oar in a few weeks ago, they sounded weak in their assurances, with what sounded like get-out clauses. I am sure it would go to appeal, out of local hands, it would be easy to show it's not viable as a football ground, as the company keeps going belly up. It might take a couple of years, but there is no hurry once you've stopped losing millions a month. The threat of development is very real IMHO. There are rumours of planning applications being prepared!

One of the few finally gets it [h=3]Patio Kev[/h]Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 12:37 PM Pompey will not go bust, BC will not let us go bust as otherwise he will lose the income from the remainder of the next 2 years of parachute payments. Instead he will take over and continue to harvest us for the next 2 years. Then we will go bust.

Ys bit that's not really the issue for creditors is it? More for fans. Most creditors want their money , not a live football club.

No. Yes.

Not sure what hs motive would be for saying this if he didn't mean it?

Apparently the cheque was in the post.

It's like someone telling you the score before you watch a recording of a match -- ruined the day for me
-
Quite. He was moved to a part-time contract earlier apparenly, but why was he needed at all? He seems a decent bloke, but let's face it the post was really only a retirement present. Unless by keeping him as an employee they made it impossible for him to complain about his charity not getting the money PFC took on its behalf and did not pass on?
