  1. The best threads on here are the ones where some people are having laugh, others are deadly serious, and some others get really wound up as if it really matters. Not that this is at all relevant at the moment of course. Personally I will kitting myself out with a few nice new cardigans from the Edinburgh Wool shop and some warm corduroy trousers with elasticated waist. Not that anyone will see the trousers once I'm in the ground, because of the tartan rug
  2. Did you read the second part of my post? I pretty much agree with you! I'm a big fan of Kelvin's. The first part was to counter another poster's claim that Green is 'gash' and was 'only in the England squad because of the lack of decent english keepers'.
  3. It is hard to believe that the trust haven't got hold of some details by now. Nearly as hard to believe as the notion that the trust might actually make a realistic bid!
  4. To be honest he could be standing next to me now, and I'd be none the wiser. Young, tall bloke, presumably not in football shirt, doesn't narrow it down much. Tell you what, I'll ask every young bloke I see who they are. I'm sure that will end well!
  5. I see the Tory 'survival of the fittest' principle still lives within you Dune, in spite of what you've said. I suspect you mean to say "pre-dates" not "predates", but your sub-conscious won!
  6. Hope you're right. We certainly do need pace. When you compare championship sides and premier league sides, apart from the obvious stand-out stars that some PL teams have, the big difference is often pace.
  7. Well let's face it, these journalists won't really have detailed chapter and verse of exactly what/where/when. The most likely explanation, if they know anything at all, is that they've heard he's down here sometime about now and over the weekend, and there's been a bit of 'chinese whispers' over the precise timings, or they've guessed a bit from the little they do know -- or indeed the timings may simply have changed a bit for entirely trivial reasons.
  8. It still worries me that we 'targetted' Clyne in our match against them, putting high balls to Lambert near him, which Rickie won nearly every time. How would he do against the likes of Carroll or Crouch etc?
  9. But every England manager thinks he is better than Kelvin, since they pick him rather than Kelvin. Sorry mate, but I suspect they are better judges than you. However, part of me would be a bit disappointed if we did sign him. I think Davis is up to it in the PL, for a year or two yet anyway, and deserves the chance to prove it. Besides a player who rejects a contract offer from West Ham (aka 'the new Pompey') is unlikely to be happy with our wage offer
  10. Anyway, Chanirai getting the club back ,with or without a CVA, is going to provide laughs for years to come, as he bleeds them dry.
  11. Don't worry. I think you'll find he is quite used to feeding himself without your help. In fact, show him a trough and he'll have his snout in it before you can say FCR.
  12. I now have lovely image of the 2 of them waving their cheques at the Fratton end !
  13. Quite --and the only pictures released show a shirtless Barton being held back from hitting someone. Mind you, to be fair, it is entirely possible that the QPR version is true. But even if so, you have to question the sense of someone like him being outside a club in Liverpool at 5 am, with no 'minders'. He can't have it both ways. If you're a public figure earning obscene amounts of money and living a surreally privileged life, you can't expect to act as if you live a normal life when you feel like it.
  14. Well yes and no IMO. I'm ancient, yet I remember when I was young, in the late 60's and early 70's, that you could tell a 'dopehead'. Even in those days frequent, habitual use caused personality changes that were clear to others. Though no doubt certain personality types are more likely to become dopeheads. There's long been a common misbelief that it was less likely to cause cancer than smoking tobacco, when the opposite is true. The problem nowadays is that some parents who grew up believing it was harmless, still believe that, and turn a blind eye to their kids smoking cannabis. At least in my young days, typical parents thought all drugs were the work of the devil!
  15. I just looked at that 'truebluearmy' forum. No posts showing on there since monday! And the latest posts aren't even about their dire situation. They're not even bothering to fiddle whilst Pompey burns. (An allusion for the classically educated amongst you! Wonder if better as Pompei?)
  16. You're so right Rallyboy. This thread has kept me going since the season ended. If they ever really do go bust, I will just wander the streets , going up to strangers and asking them if they want to know about the football creditors rule, or would they like me to explain how a CVA works?
  17. I was curious to see what portsmouth's own fans were saying about the situation, so had a look at some of their forums over the weekend in case they'd heard something we hadn't. I know we call them the' blue few', but even so I was shocked by how few posters they seem to have. You'd think their forums would be in meltdown in their precarious position, but no. Just a few desultory posts. Have I missed some real hotbed forum? Which is their main one? Oh and btw the ones I did see, in general know less than the posters on here. The typical posts are along the lines of .. "why don't we just sack Ben Haim and Kitson?", or "why did Birch sell Ward so cheap?", with the odd relatively sane one trying over and over again to explain the rules.
  18. All the written details on season ticket sales just say available today. So I've just rung to renew. After the usual several layers of recorded messages, I got one that told me season ticket renewal is from 12 noon on6th June. Thought I let others know not to waste their time like I did mine.
  19. In fact, to be fair to Kanu, I believe he re-negotiated his contract a year or two ago, from a one-year contract with a huge wage, to one paying roughly the same total money over 3 years. If he'd stuck to the orignal contract he'd have already received the remaining £300k by now. So this is typical portsmouth behaviour. In effect ask the bloke to defer his wages, to spread them over 3 years, then try to renege on the third year of the deal.
  20. I really really can't understand why there is no more talk now of the FL witholding the golden share. I know Chainrai has said he wll not let them be liquidated, but he is apparently also saying he will not buy them unless/until the high wage earners leave. Birch is admitting they are not leaving. Ergo Chainrai will notgo ahead with the purchase --certainly not in time for the start of the season. Ergo they cannot guarantee now, for the FL AGM, that they will fulfil all next season's fixtures. So why should they have the golden share?
  21. I see the new, improved, 'News' comments section has crashed again. Must be fat in the internet cables. And just in time to stop anyone linking to the players not paid again tweet....what a coincidence.
  22. Is "Denmeadblue" on the News forum one of us?
  23. So never mind what latest pointless tricks it can do, will the battery last more than a day at a time? Smartphones are getting plain silly for battery life. Most seem to need charging every day. My latest Blackberry only lasts about 2 days, whilst the older ones lasted for 3 or 4 days - and my good old-fashioned steam-powered Nokia usually only needs charging about once a week unless I use it a lot.
  24. I hope to God he doesn't vote UKIP too ,or we'll have Dune joining in as well !
  25. Come on in and join us nutjobs on the main Pompey thread on the lounge --the water's lovely.
