Steve Kean secretly filmed calling Sam Allardyce a "f**king crook"
Ken Tone replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Lounge
Whenever you listen to the majority of football managers it makes you wonder if they have the brains to manage a cake shop, let alone a multi-milion pound business. -
Thank god someone finally mentioned him. I only read this thread for the first time just now, and was beginning to lose faith in my fellow fans.
-
Not if they are a Liverpool fan! But I don't see why we shouldn't aim and indeed plan to become bigger than clubs like Everton. Our potential fan base is massive. I'm particularly looking forward to the sons (and daughters) of current PFC fans coming to watch us as they grow up, with PFC 2013 ltd playing in non-league. Does Westwood have any kids? Arrghh -- the thought of him procreating is stuck in my head now.

Didn't see that shot. Tevez should be banned too then. As to Barton's likely ban -- will they add more for bringing the game into disrepute for his twitter comments about trying deliberately to get a City player to retaliate?
-
Or maybe he just has better things to do with his life apart from swapping insults with a prat like Barton? Very hard to believe that Barton would know anything about Lineker that would not have leaked out in the media by now.
-
Has anyone seen anything to support Barton's excuse that Tevez hit him before he elbowed him? Can't say I could see any sign of that on the match of the day replays.

Going back to the original Bolton or QPR issue .. How did that Stoke goal stand? Refs usually give a foul if a players so much as sneezes on the keeper. I haven't seen an assault on a keeper like that allowed since the days of black and white tv. Really tough on Bolton to go down like that, with QPR losing so the one goal made all the difference

Does anyone have the definitve answer to what hapens to the players' contracts if (when?) they are liquidated? I heard variations from 'the players get paid up in full by the league (or PFA?) and then are free agents' , through to ... 'their registration defaults to the league who then in effect try to sell them to another club' . If it is the former, no player in his right mind will leave now. If the latter, they mght still have some hope of a few sales before they go bust.

Trolling again Turkish? Don't you ever get bored with it?

Given that professional sport is really part of the entertainment industry, surely pay and prize money ought to relate to the income brought in? So IF women's tennis brings in the same crowds and the same sponsorship and advertising etc as men's, the money should be the same. Ditto every other sport. If ever women's rugby gets as popular as men's, then pay them the same. Of course by the same token, there is therefore no justification whatsoever for any money at all in men's beach volleyball

Only entertaining in the same way as the Kray twins! The man's a thug anda bully with no self control. How he is still in professional football after the incident in 2004 where he stubbed out a cigar in the face of one of his club's youth players is beyond me.

I buy most waterproofs etc whenever I see them in a sale! But if you want decent walking boots, and they are too essential to leave till the next sale, I'd recommend the Cotswold Outdoor shop in Hedge End. It's part of chain, so maybe all their branches are good... I don't know. But the staff at Hedge End really know their stuff and genuinely help you find a pair that fit. It's worth the wait for an assistant if they are busy. You can sometimes blag a discount too if you have any provable link with a sports or youth organisation.

Verbal goes awol ant this guy appears on Britains got talent
Ken Tone replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
But did he finish 17th? -
I've appointed a few pompey fans to work at my place over the years. I see it as part of our equal opportunities, equality and diversity programme.
-
Oh, I don't know. Lots of the things Dune says make me laugh.
-
I don't care if its name is Spearmint. That's not what I meant. Now take it out of the stadium ..and stop laughing

If you mean 'oldredeye' his various statements don't make sense. He talks of a CVA and staged payments to secured creditors one minute and 'debt free' the next. Feel sorry for the bloke actually. He is a fan trying his best to save his club by getting more of the rest of the few to pledge their money to the trust, and yet by the sound of it they've on'y got about 1200-1400 pledges, ie less than £150,000 cash. Really pathetic in every sense of the word.

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Pompey-Academy-Seeks-Host-Families-2004.aspx Seeking host families for apprentices, but no mention of the club actually paying for this accommodation I see. Very wise.

Ah but at least they didn't die from the diesel fumes like submariners in the 1st WW !
-
Respect to anyone who can put up with any sub ....even your modern 'luxury pad' Delldays. If you want a good (fiction) read about the really early days, ie 1st world war subs, try 'A Sailor of Austria' by John Biggins. They were just tin cans that went underwater for a while. Must have been terrifying.

Anybody heard the one about Cortese becoming the next king of England? Common knowledge in Dubai apparently.

From the news comments: " When Milan sold the lifetime season tickets I bought one for £2000. If you take that over the years my season ticket costs less than £140 a year " I'd honestly thought these lifetime season tickets were an urban myth till I read that. Good grief! What a stupid bit of business! So some (many?) of those not packing the park are doing it for free anyway in effect, with their £2000 used up years ago.

Very fond of Scotland as aplace to visit ..not so sure about as a place to live! Try walking up the Caingorms above Aviemore. If you like watching wildlife it is the best part of the UK IMO. And the western isles/inner hebrides are fantastic in every respect apart from the bloody midges in summer, which can be no problem one week and a nightmare the next.

Spent 7 years living on the outskirts of Manchester, when I was quite a bit younger, so was brought to view Liverpudlians in much the same way as we do Portsmouth people. The antipathy between the cities is similar. I have to say that the Suarez affair and this booing has merely confirmed my stereotype

48 [h=3]"oldredeye[/h]Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 01:13 PM 39 - Plan B is not under consideration, once we knew the club would survive past May 1st it would be nigh on impossible, given the info from the FL and their rules, to get an application in now. Just how does one setup a new football club, with no ground, no funds and no staff and by June? The longer Birch keeps the current PFC alive the chance of a PFC at any level next year if he liquidates disappears by the day. Thats no fault of anyone, its just a simple fact of time." That's the spirit!
