  1. Where on earth is he finding a new built house in Winchester? If it is in the city itself, it must be 'infill' with little or no garden or space round it, and that will not suit the footballer's stereotype. If he wants space he'll need an old house, or be well outside the city centre .. and if you can't walk to the centre you're missing half the advantge of Winchester as a place.
  2. No not arrogant, just tempting fate. I'm happy to save these discussions for the close season... maybe ... I hope ... fingers crossed .... not under a ladder ...nowhere near a black cat ... all mirrors intact ... not on the 13th ...
  3. This. I hate it when a few hundred fans ruin it for the other 30,000 or so, and indeed for the players. A lap of honour is much better than watching a few daft kids run about on the pitch.
  4. I believe the original singer was from Jamaica. Are you suggesting the club singer in this story blacks himself up?! Speaking as a member of the liberal wishy-washy leftist clique on here, IF this really was just an innocent playing of the song, of course to call it racist is nonsense, and no doubt the police investigation into the complaint will come to that conclusion. However we have no idea what actually happened. If for example the Chinese bloke happened to walk across in front of the stage, and the singer then deliberately started playing the song whilst making mocking gestures, in order to make fun of him, that would be a rather different scenario. So far all that has got into the media as far as I know, is that someone has made a formal complaint to the police and the bloke who was accused has made some one-sided statements.... no detail of what the complainant says happened. So let's wait and see eh, rather than start yet another "the world's gone mad" fuss.
  5. Quite. It woud be great if Brighton beat Huddersfield and we beat Brentford ... up in all but arithmetic certainty... but I'll be happy enough if we just do at least as well as Huddersfield on Saturday, and let the extra game and the vastly superior goal difference put us up a game or two later.
  6. What .... you mean the way everyone calls me 'Ace'? Ken ...aka 'gitface' to his mates
  7. Because whilst anonymity is acceptable and possibly essential on line, in the flesh this would be like inventing your own nickname. As sad as Ince calling himself the guv'nor. (Who was it on here that was so keen for him to be our manager btw. Not done well lately has he?)
  8. What have you got against tbh? He's a really nice fella Back to the OP. This is daft idea Dune. Think how many users would get risk getting sacked once ther bosses realised they spent so much of their work time on here. Of course in your case you'd presumably be wearing a veil.
  9. Was his name Heisenberg?
  10. Have a heart mate. A lot of those "cheeky ****ers" are, like my son, unemployed but desperate to find work, and delighted to get even this very temporary job so they can get off the jobseekers for a few weeks and earn some money, not 'scrounge'. Don't shoot the messenger.
  11. It was ...admittedly only briefly. As someone has already posted, sports news at c8.20 am.( The only reason I have Solent on in the car in the morning.) Basically Solent bulletin said "Chief Finance Officer of Saints says don't worry, all is well."
  12. Lovely juxtaposition of headlines on the BBC about Posh Keeper Day set for Peterborough Lay off Lewis, says boss Ferguso Ferguson complains about fans having a go at 'Calamity' Lewis one day, then signs a new keeper the next. Of course the new bloke can't play till next season, so the man management psychology is even better. In effect he is saying "Lewis is not crap (but I've just signed a replacement). Lewis will play for the rest of the season in our vital games" Bet he learnt that one from his Dad.
  13. You know I've heard local police and lawyers talking about the prevalence of Russian mafia activity in Hampshire, but of course I would not want make any link here.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-13012150 Another Muslim? --- A man has appeared in court accused of grooming 22 girls in the UK via the internet. Paul Anthony Wilson, 20, from Birmingham, appeared before the city's magistrates to face 43 charges Why no thread on this bloke, with the heading "Christians grooming children" ? This is recent, today's news, not from 2003. I've no idea if he is religious or not, but then nor do we have any idea if the 'muslims' refered to in the OP are religious either. They are all despicable, but trying to make this look like it is a race/religious issue is pretty despicable too.
  15. A draw for me. Huddersfield have a harder run in than Posh. If we win at Orient we go above Huddersfield anyway, with 2 games in hand, if they draw, and it would give us a better safety margin over Posh. But second best is a Posh win.
  16. Even odder, why is this being published by the paper now when the investigation was in 2003, and why is the Telegraph apparently quoting something said to the Times? Will you also start a thread about abuse in Christian children homes, Dune, or maybe about abuse by Catholic priests? Every society, and most sub-groups of society, has sick bastards in it.
  17. Thanks for posting that link. A good article, hereby 'bumped' for others to see.
  18. All religions have rules that are adhered to more or less strictly. As you say it is interest that breaks strict Muslim interpretation. We used to have similar objections in Christianity. ...look at the word 'usury' and see its usage in Shakespeare for example. Or for that matter see expulsion of the money lenders in the New Testament. But we have gradually overcome our qualms! I imagine there must be some very strict Christian sects that still have such rules though.
  19. Lol Normans go home to France I say. And as for those Saxons.....
  20. Yeah. It's surprising how few people know the "Or to put it another way get your arses down here " quote. From one of his lesser known plays, the football-based "The Comedy of Errors".
  21. He was another part of the Wilde 'legacy' wasn't he? Ego trip for channel island based business man, to sign local lad and play the big shot back home.
  22. There is no such thing as 'buried' for a Saints game. Were you not at the Leeds game where we were 3 up at home well into the game, and still lost ? I can get more worried when we're 2 up than when we're nil all!
  23. From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, Or to put it another way get your arses down here
  24. So he can't cover goalkeeper or striker as well? One trick pony!
