  1. I'm sure that's all true, but it doesn't relate to their previous time in admin, which is the time that parachute payments are thought to have been advanced. When the FL says that Pompey were treated equally, they mean that when the payment was made in early 2012 there was no advance or early release of money. It doesn't say anything about what happened two years earlier, nor would I expect the FL to have any knowledge of that.
  2. Hardly. Equity is not a loan and does not need to be paid back.
  3. Interesting electoral system they have in Canada...
  4. Or, to take that a stage further, why not do away with points for results and decide positions on goal difference, then goals scored, then away goals? Looking at the PL table, the current placings would change very little if this were in place right now.
  5. Tried that. Made my nose cold and I couldn't read a f*cking thing. I won't be taking your advice again in a hurry, no siree.
  6. I was about to post that.
  7. I think Phil's in for a big disappointment when he reads this thread.
  8. Urinal cakes. Mary Berry meets Marcel Duchamp. This could be the next big thing in the patisserie world.
  9. The FL didn't make up the rules as they went along in our case, they simply applied their own rules as they stood. Pompey's case is different as there is no rule extant to cover it; as pedg says, the FL jumped too early by specifying the current season and clearly felt they couldn't change that. And I'd agree that the whole "owned by the fans" bit has made something of a difference as well, in that the League would expect a good deal of bad PR to come their way if they did apply the deduction next season. That said, they could do it if they really wanted to.
  10. I think that's how they'll tackle it. At the end of next season they'll turn the pitch through 90 degrees, followed by another 90 degrees the following summer, with either two further 90-degree rotations or a single 180-degree rotation to complete the work, depending on their funds at that time. It will be a massive effort but it will be well worth it.
  11. He did cop a crafty feel though.
  12. Yes, but he did it in impeccable English.
  13. Are you thinking of Watson's goal for Stoke? It was an absolute blinder, a 25-yard (or more) volley off his left foot. Don't think he ever scored another like that. Can't remember any of the others really, except that Whitlock's was a header from a corner or free kick; typical centre-back's goal, while Watson's was nothing of the sort.
  14. Purely down to cup runs and postponements owing to bad weather (81-82 was a very cold winter). Look at the results and all 22 First Division teams had played on the Saturday - they'd all have kicked off at 3pm as well.
  15. So, Martinez to Stoke and Pulis to Wigan then. Job done.
  16. How exactly does this wannabe journo reconcile the two parts of his own sentence? If the Harris bid is futile, how can it possibly pose a risk (sic - he means threat there and not risk, but I'll let that pass) to anything? It may be a minor point, but if he wants to be taken seriously, as he clearly does, then he does himself no favours with his style of writing, betraying as it does a preference for florid phrases over well-constructed argument. Given the inaccuracies in the arguments he does put forward (have the Trust really raised £3M? Is this sum really held in escrow?) I suppose this shouldn't be too surprising.
  17. Well I liked this; maybe it's just the thought that to reach Wifely Stench you have to travel through Flat Plunker and Filthy Seance... http://www.anagramtubemap.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
  18. I'm pretty sure the Michael Wilde on here actually is Michael Wilde. He started posting under his own name after he and Lowe came back into SFC in the summer of 2008; I remember him posting some stuff back then. His account is clearly still there, but I can't imagine he posts any more.
  19. I have to ask: do you genuinely not see the difference between "winning more games" and "winning more than half the games you play"? You seem to be treating the two as having identical meanings, when in fact they do not.
  20. Bit of a 'Whooooosh' moment there I think Phil...
  21. Bazooka Joe bubblegum Cinnamon Tic-Tacs Dentyne chewing gum (another cinnamon flavour) Maverick bars (more recent but I don't think you can get them any more)
  22. There's a great crowd of hundreds that sings, There's a chap* with a bell that he rings. But in all the court cases, Balu holds the aces. And the Grim Reaper waits in the wings. * Yes, I know - but this is a family limerick.

    Van hire

I reckon you'll be lucky to get everything you're looking for; not that many vehicle hire firms do 7.5t trucks, and those that do aren't too likely to allow a drop-off so far from the hiring location, or at least not without a hefty premium. You could try Burnt Tree (I hired a 7.5 tonner from their Newcastle depot a few years back and they were very good) but I don't know if they have a depot anywhere near Southampton. And, as Swannymere says above, a 7.5 tonner is very much a truck and not a van. It's a big bugger, about 24' long and 7' or so wide.
  24. If he's actually parted with £2000 of his own hard-earned on 'shares' in the PST, I think he has every right to be locked up for his own safety...
  25. Great minds clearly think alike - that was my first thought too!
