I wonder if any friendly Seagull fans could confirm the type of boot Calderon wears. Regardless of what Calderon was wearing there is a far far higher chance of blades causing injury of this type and also of causing ligament, tendon and muscle injuries due to nature of the grip they can provide, It's too good and rigid. Their plastic material is easier to wear down into a sharp edge. Blades were invented in all good intentions but they are absolutely dreadful in application. They need to be banned. The injuries I have seen caused at the football club I coach at through gashes caused by these are frankly astonishing, the slightest 'nick' from a worn blade tears through socks, shin pad support straps and in particularly awful circumstances, the soft tissue beneath.
