Crikey, gave me a real shiver down the spine when I remembered it - 30 years! Cant remember much else from that year apart from the memorable matches we had in that great season, and the fact I started a new job that brought me back to Hampshire. Went with new wife and father in law plus Mother in law, she nearly got crushed as we spilled about 20 steps down the terrace when Stevie scored. Davis has to play against his old team; Jos and Yosh and Fox need a game, as does Steven Davis, Cork and Ramirez to help get them match fit/up to speed. All are "first teamers" that if required need to fit in seamlessly. That does not make it a weak or second string team in my view.

Is anyone wanting/thinking of going to Brazil next year? I would like to go for the first two weeks, to say Fortalesa in the north where it will be warm and sunny (despite being "winter") and just take a chance on the games there, soak up the sun and the atmosphere, and watch England on a big screen if need be. It would be good to join up with some fellow Saints fans if at all possible, thoughts anyone??

I am with Johnny Boy and Alps on this one; if that was the best team performance many of us have seen in 40 plus years in the first half, then one man stood out for a 10 when the rest had 9 which was SRL he was simply awesome. His celebration in front of us on the Northam said it all to me, he loves this club, the fans and he let his performance do the talking to the manager why he cannot be left out for a mercenary who has not proved himself yet.
