I’ve got huge concerns about Will Still and this team. The hype has been huge, the hugging up of the transfer window those last few days too. Yet the most underwhelming result last week, and performance to match, and now this… It’s bad. The only crumb of comfort is that we started exactly the same two years ago and look how we finished the season.

Russell Martin football was dull at times, certainly slow, but you knew we’d get a few goals and go until the end. This lot haven’t even got started.

Can someone explain to me how Adam Armstrong, who is excellent at this level, doesn’t get a start? Tom Fellows is weak as anything. Finn Azaz is the most non-attacking attacking midfielder.

I’d take Russell Martin back. At least you knew that snooze football would bag you a goal or two 😂

All I’m saying is in any other career profession you’d be looking at his sickness absence percentage now and he would be on a warning. Ross Stewart despite being currently fit you’d be considering his fitness to continue in present role. 😂

He wanted a big pay day as a 17 year old. In no way, shape or form did he ever deserve such a lucrative contract for scoring a few goals at youth level. Good riddance. He will end up as a Ryan Seager, Jake Hesketh kind of player floating around Leagues One and Two. He didn’t do enough to justify his value then and he certainly hasn’t recently. Saints were great to tell him to shove it. His youth wage at Chelsea could be the most lucrative contract he gets in his career now. He certainly wasn’t going for his development, he went purely for a pay day.

I think the difficulty is is that no one knows what to expect. Martin had his stamp, yes it could be tedious and times and we were prone to stupid mistakes but you can’t argue it was effective at dominating the game and moving forward. All I’ve got from Will Still so far is “get the ball into the box”, well if that’s the case then buy a 6”4” striker that can actually hold the ball up.

It’s early days but that was shambolic today. We haven’t really had a good half of football since the season began. I don’t get today’s game plan, there’s getting rid of it in your penalty area, fair enough, but lumping it long every thirty seconds for the first half was madness. These players have been brought in because of their technical ability, but there was none of that on show today. Azaz was particularly disappointing, he didn’t strike me as someone that demands the ball and wants to drive forward. It’s too early to judge him but I’m far from convinced so far.

It’s difficult to get excited for something when you just lump it every thirty seconds up the field. That’s literally all we did for the first half.

Fellows put in a couple of crosses but aside from that he was very weak and slowed play down. Azaz was invisible. Roerslav looked nervy. Downes does what Downes does, gobby prick getting booked every game. Handed was miles better when he came on. The tactics looked so stagnant today, half the team looked knackered. We certainly won’t be winning at Fratton Park, so that’s a few points we’ve dropped to the blue few already.

Let’s not beat around the bush, that was absolutely bloody terrible. Tactics all over the place, no real attacking threat, Azaz invisible.

Azaz and Downes need to be subbed off. Ineffective and yellow carded.

Scrappy 1-1 incoming. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that we would batter Portsmouth. Although a lot of my Pompey supporting friends aren’t confident in them even getting a point.
