  1. Not the stripes, but in a slightly inebriated state watching our match in the pub V Liverpool last week I must admit to getting excited once or twice when the team in red were on the attack. I have to say I hate our Red Home Kit - it just doesn't seem as if I'm watching The Saints. But surely there is no way Sunderland will be in their home kick because of the red stripes. Pretty sure we have never worn our home kick at Anfield.
  2. Sadly the correct answer was a great disappointment to Avram Grunt, who has decided not to attend now.
  3. Maybe we will escape it here in Dubai, as in the Islamic Calendar, we are only in the year 1434. Yay - I'm saved.
  4. Didn't Wolves go thru the leagues like a dose of salts in the 80's? Possibly consecutive seasons which would be even better/worse than if Skatesmuff went down this season.
  5. Damn - wish I's seen this fred before. Just paid my electric and water bills, credit card and phone bills FFS Fortunately I haven't done all my xmas shopping but my Air Ticket back home in January is looking like a waste of money.
  6. Let this be a warning - whiskey on your cornflakes is not the way to start the day.
  7. Venue for the next meeting?
  8. Cripes .... Nasty Nic is really Sammy Saint.
  9. Champions League qualification spot without a doubt.
  10. For all his bluster and poo pooing the possibility of us getting the 10 points we did, I'm sure he is as happy as the rest of us at how things have turned around. Plenty of others were also predicting pretty poor outcomes for the 4 games, but only Alps backed his up with such gusto!!
  11. But that strength has helped him carry our team from League1 to The Prem!! As much as I wish refs would look after him a bit more protection and give him his fair amount of free kicks, I'd hate for him to go down the poncy Andy Carroll or whinging Roberts route. Also worth giving him a huge round of applause for his passing game, showing that he isn't just a human battering ram. His weighted pass to put Clyne on the overlap for Punchy's goal y'day was simply exsquisite.
  12. I am in the "Boy am I glad he's proved me wrong" camp!! Last season I'd have happlily let him go, and even earlier this season I thought he was well off Prem pace, all too often going up blind alleys and losing possession way too easily, but he has really come on in leaps and bounds and has been instrumental in our recent surge of good form. His defensive duty's have been excellent recently and his link play with Clyne a major plus that has seen us looking much less vulnerable down the flanks now. Also the club can cancel their "Puncheon smashing the behind The Goal Screens" insurance policy, saving the club loads of money that will be spent on his new contract instead
  13. 11 Mar 80 .... we won 3-0 with Baker, Boyer and a recovering from alcholism Jimmy Greaves getting the goals. pilfered from In That Number, not my beer deadened memory bank.
  14. Slight transgenitlal thought.... Maybe this is why Gazza has got the goalkeeping nod ahead etc etc That and his trans sexual genitals.
  15. I knew I'd seen his face before ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=i800jcY1Q7A
  16. You forgot to add that the reason he went back to Uruguay was to collect his birthday cards and have a piece of birthday cake as the southampton bastardos didn't remember his b'day!!
  17. My 1st ever Cup Final was the reserve team winning the Combination Cup v WHU in the late 60's/early 70's. Used to go to quite a few reserve games if we couldn't go to see the 1st XI away. Score updates from them every 15 mins lol and only a few hundred in The Dell. Loads of plastic glory hunters out for the final though
  18. If they don't get the Out of Court Settlement deal - what are they going to do with that drawer full of brown paper bags from árry's days?
  19. Different views on how recent "recent" means possibly!! I rememmber being down town shopping and seeing the score on a TV in Plummers and mentally read it as 0-0 and thought better than expected. Classic double take, jaw hitting the floor moment and then a cheer as several other conveniently placed shoppers finally registered it as 6 as well. This is how we rolled bitd before mobile phones and computers FFS.
  20. Don't let 19c know we could have another Soul Cellar on our hands ( it was no coincidence that I name checked the place in my post earlier!!)
  21. Beatts did a lot of charity work in the community, although didn't it start as a Drink Driving penalty? Fair do's to him though, I believe he kept up doing some of the work long after the allotted hours had passed.
  22. Most of mine have been mentioned, but here goes anyway - At The Dell for 1st ever Top Flight game, v Man City. Was my 1st ever game - makes me the original glory hunter!! At Stamford Bridge for the 6-2 win when Big Ron got 4, Civers got 2 and even Ossie weighed in with 2 for Chelsea. My 1st ever away game - down hill ever since!! At The Dell v Rosenberg - Saints 1st home in in Europe. Sadly never made it to an away game yet, one of my greatest SFC regrets. At Wembley 76 - one of only about 25000 Saints fans who have seen us win The FA Cup!! About 15 feet up one of those trees outside what is now The Soul Cellar hanging on for dear life as Saints showed off The Fa Cup from the balcony of The Guildhall. The tree wasn't very big back then!! Always have a little smile when I walk past it on visits home. Mick Channon's Testimonial - never seen The Dell so full of scarves, flags and banners, awesome. 1st Prem League game at St Mary's v Chelsea. Living away from home it was my first time of seeing it in the flesh - goosebumps, despite the score. That's enough for now.
  23. Ha Ha .... blown his chances of signing James Beattie now !!!
  24. I'm begining to wonder if Gazza could catch a cold. Can barely recall him making a save that hasn't bounced off him of been fumbled. I think Kelv is needed back before Gazza loses all of his confidence. Reading will have players all over him like a rash.
  25. Nor is it mone or my wife's.
