  1. And the moral is - dont sing 'we are top of the league' until the ref has blown the whistle - chuckle chuckle chuckle smug Brighton supporters
  2. He played well for us for one season and moved on. It has not worked out well for him due to injuries but his record with us stands. I have wasted enough nervous energy on Pulis junior on this forum which is more than he ever did for SFC but again its not Pulis' fault he is crap or Andrew Davis's fault it is the responsibility of those that bought Pulis here.
  3. I thought he played well tonight hard working and took his chances. I agree that his work rate is excellent and makes up for other shortcomings. I am not really sure how he compares with Connolly and Barnard nor how he would fit in here.
  4. I hope he does well there. There is little point dwelling now on how he came to be here it has been done to death
  5. I think this is a good bit of PR to promote the club. I also think we are just not used to 'straight talking' at SFC even looking back to the days of Askham as chairman and the selling of Shearer Flowers and the full back (name forgotten due to Stella Artois) to Blackburn to ensure they won the Prem League.
  6. I have just p****d myself laughing - Brighton 3 2 up and their fans singing 'we are top of the league' and then Leeds score. Good game of football though and I thought Mackail Smith played very well for them
  7. Have you been to their ground!! I do some work near there!!
  8. Yes we must strive for promotion for all good reasons. I do look at some of the struggling teams line ups in terms of players, compare them with ours and have a little concern. However I think it has been shown financially it is better to be promoted then relegated as long as you get promoted again afterwards but I do not think I could bear relegation from the Prem again. My neighbours in the Kingsland still remind me of my hilarious stand up rants at Claus and others when we conceded yet another soft goal so much so that the steward had to ask me to sit down.
  9. Not interested in his views - he left us. I do not blame him for going as financial security at 18 is something we all would strive for. I hope he does well but as for his views who now cares - his life experience has been enriched not by money but by being dicked 8 2 on TV in front of millions
  10. Good I think he has been good this year
  11. I really want to go but have to work and our Dave through headphones is not the same thing
  12. How dare they publish this!! Publishing it and stopping it though are different things. Anyone reading this will give up from the start - I hope WHU By Phil Smith Published on Friday 23 September 2011 12:00 SCOUT Phil Smith looks at the threat posed by Championship leaders Southampton at Turf Moor tomorrow. A 4-1 victory over Birmingham City, their 13th successive home league win, saw Southampton move to the top of the Championship. Burnley have collected 14 points from a possible 33 at Turf Moor since March. The Saints boast a record of 25 from a possible 36 away from St Mary’s. They are currently in blistering form having enjoyed six wins from seven in the league this season. The lack of a holding midfielder in the visitors 4-4-2 is likely to be an area Eddie Howe looks to exploit. Jack Cork and Dean Hammond will be involved in penetrating runs centrally. Cork will come short to receive the ball. He will look to release Rickie Lambert and David Connolly in depth. Southampton will utilise space behind the defensive line in their offensive transition. Expect across the face runs from the pair. Lambert has broken the magical 20-goal barrier in each of his previous three seasons. The former Rochdale man has eight to his name already this term, including a recent hat-trick against Nottingham Forest. Connolly will operate slightly behind Lambert. He will look to feed him. Brian Easton and Kieran Trippier must close inside to eliminate this threat. Adam Lallana will give width and attack Trippier. Expect inside diagonals when Lambert drops into midfield. With four goals and five assists to his name already this campaign, Burnley will need to keep a close eye on the Saints Academy graduate. Offensive transitions will see the team move quickly to offer support. Danny Fox and Frazer Richardson will provide width from behind and deliver the ball into the box. The cross will be attacked diagonally. Richardson has three assists to his name, including two against Birmingham City on Sunday. Guly Do Prado is not a natural winger. He prefers to act as a third midfielder between the lines. He will look to release Connolly and Lambert with penetration through the defensive line. Lateral free-kicks taken inswinging by Fox. Four players will attack the ball diagonally. Expect a late run from one player towards the penalty spot. Competent handling will be crucial from Lee Grant. Lambert will look to pounce on any second ball at the far post.
  13. Svensson - still my idol as a player
  14. There were a number of 'I would be knig' candidates but I am not sure they ever represented the fanbase just liked doing interviews on TV
  15. I thought he was homesick for France - there is obviously a part of Reading that is forever - France
  16. A good point but I think most people are disappointed with the crowd bearing in mind the quality that is being served up every home game. We have lost the 4 to 5 thousand Prem hangers on and free lunchers (sorry corporate hospitality) and so will not achieve 30,000 but I think it should be 27 to 28 thousand
  17. Connolly was superb and only just below his performance at Plymouth away when I gave him 10. He was given a poor pass yesterday in front of the Kingsland that was overhit and behind him and he was being closely marked albeit by Carr - he checked back in a split second got his body behind the ball to avoid the tackle and pushed the ball back inside to Hammond leaving Carr for dead and a gap as big as the Solent. I have not seen as good as that since Kanchelskis was with us for a short while.
  18. I thought his performance was immense today Birmingham just could not live with him and nearly as good as the masterclass against Plymouth away last season.
  19. More seriously very good performance and could have had more. Come on you 'naysayers' The only problem winning like this gives me is that I keep only scoring 5 points in the prediction league - doh
  20. He did well last year and has a paper thin squad this year which will inevitably give him increasing problems as time goes on. I think everyone is getting a bit fed up with blaming the referee after each game. A Pompey ST holder friend of mine thinks they have got away with a lot this year and all cards he has seen this year have been deserved. It wont last if they lose the next two home games he will be gone.
  21. Wait for the Lambert shock horror story in the Echo tomorrow
  22. I have no wish to see him back but it is difficult to blame any of those players that left during that time of complete chaos.
  23. I have met Eddie Mitchell through business but I do not actually do any business with him. This is not related to football although I did tell him I was a SFC fan. He is not insane but he is 'mad' - his sentences are not totally coherent and this gets worse if he gets 'excited' which happens frequently and you can be left with the feeling that you do not have a clue what he is talking about and no idea why you are having a meeting with him in the first place. There is no question he is a Bournemouth fan and he cannot be happy about things at BFC at the moment but he is saddled by his comments of previous seasons. The club is poorly supported financially and so there was never any way that it could continue on its previous upward path. 'Always loyal' Howe knew this and this is why he walked. The problem is you cannot make hugely optimistic statements to the fans about the beckoning Championship and then sell all of your best players and this has led to his current problems. He did not sound P****d on the radio just upset. I think mad Eddie should be given some slack for keeping BFC in business or they could have ended up with the 'mad' photo copier salesman and his handwritten drawings - sorry no it was impossible. I do not understand why there is this anti Southampton feeling in Bournemouth and it is relatively new as the history shows SFC have helped BFC stay in business. Working there I have always had a soft spot for BFC and will continue to look for their results and hope they do well but their fans have to have a reality check just as we did.
