I do know Dave after a few run ins from his time running the youth set up - he used to coach during the game from 10 to 15 metres inside the pitch and was not averse to blocking off opposition players (really) and he lives in Romsey. You have to respect the man but some of what he says is spot on and some is well wide of the mark. However he is much better than the other idiot (another BBC presenter that does not research the background before the game - did you know we were in for Kris Commons) but when he mentioned he had a chat with Adam Leitch of the Echo I was in hysterics. What a combination of total ignorance.

It is only when you look back on things you realise what a king sized **** Lowe actually was. I have a friend who is a Hearts fan although he has lived in Southampton for over 40 years and he hates this Chairman guy with a vengeance - oh hang on there is another similarity with Lowe. I have to admit I am quite worried that there will be offers from a number of prem clubs - certainly all the bottom 6 as well as Newcastle. In the end the player decides if the money is there. I would be devastated but it is a real risk.

We have a very good Championship first team - certainly top 6 if not top 2 - but a mid table squad. We have been hard hit by the loss of Chaplow and now others and it is clear that whenever changes are made to 'rest' players etc or tweak the squad the replacements are not good enough. Hence Plan B and Plan C do not work out. As reported on various other threads on the forum we need 4 players in my opinion to secure automatic promotion.

As Cortese quite rightly obtained a very good price for AOC it is unlikely that Arsenal would let us have him back on loan. Arsenal get very childish when things don't go their way - such as several offers ending in the Cortese waste bin.

Yes but when you go a man down you pull people back and play one up front - 4 4 1 - and this is what Brighton did although with one more player - 4 5 1 - playing 4 3 1 1 or whatever Dave M said meant we were outgunned in midfield and exposed on both flanks. The reality is we do not do defensive midfield players at SFC

I do not think he should play for us BUT the bench today was horrifying in terms of how weak it was. Forte to replace whoever - sorry but a bit scary even in the local leagues.

No one on here actually gives a F**K what they think and we have no interest in them whatsoever apart from the fact we have lost 3 points. Even the BBC T**T was trying to big it up on the radio about local rivalry but then he was only called in at the last minute and was claiming Schneiderlin had been dropped whereas of course he was suspended.

I think you are right - we have been well and truly sussed by every side we meet now and Adkins' worth as a manager will be proven in the next few weeks.

Its been a fantastic year and we are better placed that i ever expected but we were crap tonight with too many below par performances from too many players. We are being sussed out by every other team now and if you cannot pick out a simple pass you are not going to win any league. Squad improvements are going to be necessary to stay in the top 6 at the end of the season. I do not intend to slash my wrists quite yet but I am very disappointed as 6 points ahead put real pressure in West Ham and Middlesborough. If we lose on Monday I fear we will not remain in top.

I would not put him in Svennson's class (and Svennson is my idol) but he is an extremely good player and worth far more than we have paid for him. The bonus is he seems to love it here and comes over to the Northam/Kingsland after every game.

You are probably right actually - it is more any player we have sold coming back to score against us with loans the player is normally restricted. I would not like to think that we sell Puncheon to another championship club and then need three points off them at the end of the season to stay in the auto promotion places.

Puncheon at his best with the right attitude or SDR - not much of a decision really as we are looking for a quality right sided player

Back with us - surely we would not loan him out to any team in our league as we would have under earlier regimes.

Looking at other topics the favourites appear to be Jutkiewicz from Coventry, Sharp from Donny and Puncheon - err from Saints via QPR

It has been reported on this forum that the Jutkiewicz family have been saying that he is coming here in January.

An Ipswich forum is reporting we are talking to Billy Sharp having activated his £3m escape clause and QPR are advising they are releasing Puncheon in January.

I did hope that we would be top 6 but top was unexpected. I think we have been a bit 'lucky' with other teams results when we have frequently stuttered and there will be weeks when all other results will go against us but otherwise a good half season - it is difficult to argue otherwise. Three players in January are needed to be top at the end of the season in my opinion.
