Seems to me Jordan Peterson is a busted flush, makes a mint of his book telling people how to live their lives then gets himself severely addicted to painkillers and has to be saved by Russia. Not to mention his bizarre beef-only diet he espoused.

In what way? Most people I know are borderline atheist. Most would describe themselves as humanist and they are as tolerant as any other person you might meet.
To me it reads like someone with the hate of CB Fry was entrusted with a very important role in the apparatus. When the staff of such key roles only care about your downfall your hands are pretty tied.
It's his right as an MP to vote for what he believes in.
It's the job of the party staff to respect the democratically elected leader and ollow the leaderships instructions to the best of their abilities.
