  1. I have been trying of any time before when we have done the double over two teams from the same city - excluding London of course.
  2. My tickets arrived ok. But it is not uncommon for them not to make it, such as for Sheffield United. Or for Oxford where Sints neglected to frank the envelope. I usually find the home club are very helpful in giving you duplicates if you can show them your booking details with seat numbers
  3. Losing at home to Notts County, who went on to be relegated, was a major factor in us not winning the league in 83/84. Rochdale did the double over us in League One. In the Championship we lost to Doncaster...
  4. I think they are about 7 to 1 to win. Its well worth a safety bet as losing this game is exactly what we have done throughout our history
  5. I have the VHS tape "Race for the championship" covering the 83/84 season. Narrated by Brian Moore it details the battle for the league title between Liverpool and Manchester United, apparently oblivious to the fact that United finished fourth in a two-horse race. Talking about this game he refers patronisingly to "two of the most unexpected goals of the season". Right at the end he adds a by-the-way, "Southampton finished second".
  6. While Fellows was disappointing he did supply a really good cross to Scienza for the shot blocked on the line early in the game. What happened with the Downes scuffle where he got a yellow card? I didn't really have a clear view.
  7. I would have loved us to sign Antonio, but was he willing to join Saints though? At the time - 2010 - he was a Reading player in a higher division, possibly on higher wages than we might have paid in League One. When we were signing Ramirez in 2012, Antonio had just signed for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. His career didn't seem to be going anywhere there or at Forest later and he didn't get to the Premier League until he signed with West Ham until 2015.
  8. If we get through we are set for a major fixture pile-up as the 6th round is at the Easter weekend. So Wrexham away and Ipswich home will need to be rearranged along with the Norwich game. Its almost as if it was assumed that Championship teams wouldn't make it that far.
  9. This is the one I used
  10. This is the link. You have to be very careful you are putting the right shirt in the basket ARIBO Southampton FC Soccer Jerseys 2025 2026 Home & Away Kits Stewart Armstrong, Azaz Edozie, Downes, Fraser Mens & Kids Football Shirts Uniforms Set From Mykit, $14.1 | DHgate.Com
  11. I am normally XL and went for XXL and its quite big. So not sure you do need to go up in size
  12. We used to get Manchester United regularly in the FA Cup, we have had a bit of a break in recent years. But with this being the 50th anniversary I can see it happening. On the other hand, we have never played Leeds in the FA cup so that has to happen eventually.
  13. It doesn't look like there was a blade of grass on the pitch. Love the picket fences around the sides. I went to the replay. We made hard work of that as well
  14. Its a good point that the Wembley final does kind of reward a team that didn't achieve automatic promotion. It would be better to go back to a two-leg home and away final, which was what they had up until about 1990.
  15. It strange that we haven't managed to develop a keeper. Maybe we have just focused on producing top quality full backs?
  16. We also need to reduce the number of teams in the Championship. 24 is far too many. We should have 20 teams in PL, 20 in Championship, 22 in League One, 22 in League Two and create a League Three of 22 teams bringing in the top teams from the National League. With play-offs scrapped completely. It is often forgotten that play-offs were only introduced in 1986/87 as a temporary measure to reduce the old First Division down to 20 clubs. Although in no time it was back up to 22. It was then decided that the play offs were so popular, although no supporters were asked, that they should be permanent.
  17. The annoying thing about the MOTD compilation is that it doesn't include every time we were on. Since we were on rarely, it wouldn't have stretched them that much. There was a game at Stoke in November 1981 when David Armstrong scored an absolute screamer - would love to see that again.
  18. Received mine yesterday less than two weeks after I ordered it. Don't feel bad about it as Saints had sold out in my size so I couldn't get an official version anyway. The quality is unbelievably good - maybe it will fall apart when washed? I can't believe the audacity of the copy - it has a Puma tag and came in a Puma bag.
  19. They will get the points back. Imagine the legal battles if it caused them to be relegated
  20. Pile on your money on Wednesday beating us. Its not gambling its investment
  21. Arry wasted most of that window on Reid when right from the start he had made it clear he didn't want to join Saints, and why would he when Spurs was an option rather than relegation?
  22. That is a very good suggestion. The stadium is not a safe place to play football as it stands.
  23. My suspicion for the 85-87 kit, although I hate it, is that it is the only non-traditional stripes design that hasn't been revived. And it would fit Puma's template easily. I wouldn't be adverse to going way back in our history to have red and white quarters.
  24. Too nice to ever have a chance. I do wish we could go back to navy blue shorts. And navy blue socks would be great.
