While I don't condone the spying I still don't really understand what influence it had on how we played. What I saw from January onwards was just good players playing really well. The only thing I can think of is that in some games we took the unusual choice of leaving two players up when defending corners.

Can someone please explain to me what the "natural position" of a player's arm should be when sliding in to a challenge? I always think that when defenders are in the penalty area with their arms behind their backs that is clearly not a natural position.

My worry is that the panel is not actually independent. Neil Bausor of Boro is on the EFL board. While he is not on the panel, his close working colleagues are.

Gibson wasn't that clever back in 97 in defending Boro of their own cheating charge when they decided turning up for a game was optional and had points deducted.

The talk in the media of a "paper trail" that would implicate our staff in spying on other clubs is clearly nonsense. It might be the case for the Police investigating a serial killer. But this is just a civil matter.

What worries me is that there is a precedent with Swindon, although from many years ago. They beat Sunderland in the 1990 playoff and then were not allowed to go into the first division. In fact the initial punishment had them relegated to the third division. So the authorities allowed the playoff to go ahead knowing full well it was invalid. Although Swindon's offence was making illegal payments to players, so much more severe than ours.

Looking at Everton v City and other PL games, I wonder when did shirt pulling become such a major thing? It has always happened - SRL and Pelle were always having their shirt pulled, but it seems worse than ever. is it because modern shirt materials are more grabable?

I have in the past found free parking on Moor Park Avenue which is just over the road from the stadium. Another possibility might be Moor Park Sports and Social Club. We drank in there last time and they were very friendly.

Hull might have been too early, although all the negative signs were there. It was the Swansea game where I felt it was over. And we got so bad I could confidently put money on Preston to win at St Marys. Action just 3 games earlier might have yielded at least 3 points that would make all the difference at the end of the season.

yes he is slow. But if he had pace alongside his other attributes he would be out of our reach. Sadly it is hard for us to find a perfect package, and when we do they don't stay long.

What used to really annoy me was that Saints didn't start producing season highlights videos until 1988/89 when even teams like Aldershot were producing them years before. So some great goals went unrecorded. That includes an absolute cracker by MLT away at Watford in May 87 that I don't think was filmed.
