  1. and i was surprised to know what would happen if the keeper threw the ball into the opponents net (obviously from his own box, otherwise that would be handball).
  2. Think at the time, as you said, Timmy was fucking brilliant and we were gutted to lose him, same for Bridge, but maybe losing a LB isn't the same as losing a striker or goalie. Ironically, most people felt losing Shearer wasn't a massive deal at the time considering the money we got for him.
  3. what are we saying here, that Ings is more important to the team than Flowers and Bridger were (haven't scrolled back to look)?
  4. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that by signing a new three year deal, that effectively upps his market value anyway. I do not understand why he would think that we would offer a new contract and accept a 20 mil release clause. He's worth that now anyway, arguably more but certainly by next summer, if he has not signed, he will be with a year left. However he risks a lot by not signing (unless he moves this window), it is not incomprehensible to suggest that he might not return to the prolific goal scoring form or may he get injured again. If he does sign for us, not sure a release clause is that necessary, he's playing for a club that sell, sell, sell. We just want to sign him to protect his value so we can do a Fonte and get good money just as he goes on a downward curve, which is fine from a financial view. Not sure the manager comes into it as he'll be gone next year if we finish in the top 6 or maybe 7 this year.
  5. someone else said that it may be that the 'clause' is just a smokescreen to Ings wanting to leave but not giving that impression i.e. he leaves (with a heavy heart) and says he was happy with everything except the release clause and Saints would not budge on that. He leaves but saves face and blames the club..
  6. This is what Alex Crook said yesterday, it is the release clause that is the issue. Saints want around £40m and the Ings party want around £20m, that is the issue, everything else is fine.
  7. and who might they be?
  8. Traitors? They’re doing a job mate, not following the messiah. When will football fans get the fact that players aren’t supporters and are in it for the money and kudos. They don’t care about loyalty and shit like that.
  9. Bale? That left back we sold to Tottenham? Right. wouldn’t say Shearer was better for us than Ings is now.
  10. Yeah, that would all work. not sure you realise how a footballers mind works mate.
  11. I remember watching it back some years later and realising we should have got something from the game, we deserve a draw at least. Didn’t overly feel like it in the day, think the occasion outdid the actual match.
  12. As good as JWP is at fee kicks, he’s as bad at corners
  13. That’s simply not true. In the end we will learn to deal with through different vaccines and treatments. To say, ‘left unchecked’ is ridiculous as it won’t be left unchecked. Like saying if Shame along is left unmarked he will score, will all know that won’t happen.
  14. jeez, people want to sell Ings to get decent money which will either: reduce our ST prices Give us free beer inside the stadium Profit split between all fans or spent on another Carrillo/Long/Mayuka
  15. If he goes to West ham then we may as well just give up
  16. Vardy is a slight exception but whilst we have been avoiding relegation over the last few years, he’s been champions and europa leaguing it. and aside from Arsenal a few years back, who has really done in for him? It may well be that no one will come in for Danny. It’s hard to see him as top striker at a top 6 club and so are the lives of Spurs or Chelsea going to shell out 30 million on a bench player? Be more worried about JPW going to be honest.
  17. you missed the sarcasm mate, the happy clappers would have you believe that, as far as i think, he'll go for better money and a bigger club, just like 99% of the others
  18. Ings is not leaving, he's a local lad that supports Saints, he hates the skates, he is grateful that we took a chance on him and he owes us for that and he is not greedy.
  19. Martin's 'how to slash all debt costs' January masterclass Can't afford to clear your debt? You can't afford not to try to move it to 0% - save £1,000s Cards, mortgages, overdrafts, loans, store cards, BNPL and more
  20. Couldn’t they tart a credit card, like Martin Lewis suggests on moneysavingexpert.com? they really should talk to him, he’d have a wank fest over that loan interest and I was under the impression we had a rich Chinese owner, so we’ll be fine.
  21. I think he has a bit more about him because he is clearly more intelligent than the average footballer. So I guess that subconsciously makes us think that he would think about a move for career purposes rather than the money. But I don’t think there is evidence to support that. his dad is a lawyer, maybe even a QC in Portsmouth by the way and JWP used to go to FP occasionally, not an avid supporter but one all the same. im not sure what makes people like us believe that players have good intentions about playing football. We all go to work for a wage and of course it is much better if we enjoy the day to day existence in the workplace. But even if we did and let’s put it in our terms, say you work for an insurance firm in Southampton and your on 55K a year. Not bad. You are well thought of, everyone likes you there, Carol gives you a sneaky hand job every Friday and Jonno buys you lunch on a Wednesday. The firm is doing well and you can afford a decent mortgage and drive a nice M3. Then you get offered a job in a London, 90K a year plus other perks (Dianne is offering a blowie every Friday 😂) but you get to go around all of this firms offices in Europe every two or three weeks, Geneva, Munich, Paris, Madrid etc. You’d be staying in great hotels, flying business and you can drive an Aston Martin. What you going to do? Stay in Southampton ? Really?
  22. Lucky Sir Les has gone, otherwise he could have been on the same radar that bought in Boufal, Forren, Lemina, Hoedt and of course Carrilo.
  23. cause no one has really come in for him I guess, which may change now. Don't think he was doing us a favour.
  24. Good article, didn’t know a lot of that. Okay, so if it was was an outpouring of genuine emotion over a culmination of these things (and to be fair, this article can only speculate on that), maybe Ralph should have said, instead of saying it wa the wind. That, to be fair, would be the strongest message in respect of mental health etc. But by trying to cover it up, arguably sends the wrong message.
  25. I see Capello has questioned why Ralph was crying at the end. Said it was well over the top and I have to agree, a bit embarrassing. Unless there is a real reason behind it that we are not aware of, beating Liverpool FFS is hardly beating the Barca or Real. We beaten them plenty before and will beat them again. I know Ralph hasn’t taken any points off that twat but to show him that much respect, bit much and a bit cringy.
