  1. They don’t have big lumps, but they do have a lot of bigger far more athletic types, we’ve been physically small and lightweight for a long time. That’s one reason we struggled against teams like that, West Ham, Palace, Burnley... they just bully us. Against Chelsea I watched Redmond lose every foot race, and when he did get there he just bounced off the defender. We have no one who could win a race to a ball knocked through or down the channels, even if they did they’d struggle to hold it up while the plodders joined from midfield. We just need a big reset.
  2. You normally need a traditional centre forward for this to be effective, I’m a bit of a dinosaur and miss my man-crush Grazziano, we’ve had no one like that since. I think Ings alongside a big no 9 could cause havoc. In short wouldn’t be averse to it but we don’t have the personnel.
  3. Doesn't matter, because we are the record breakers, record breakers la la la la la (you have to be a certain age to get the reference...)
  4. I don't think it has been that fast, it's just become increasingly noticeable to the point now where he is pretty awful. I used to love watching his wing play with Tadic and Redmond (whatever happened to him?), they used to create a lot of good delivery or runs into the box. Something we just don't do anymore.
  5. I can't see it, I think he is cooked.
  6. I see it exactly as you do, I'm Just not convinced with the idea he should be replaced at this stage. All the valid points you make in the first paragraph will exist for his replacement. It could get worse. I don't think we will go down, if I did I would say get him out now as we would have to do something, anything to stay in the prem. Saints need a reset,we are paying the price now for the moneyball strategy which started under the extremely arrogant Les Reeds tenure. I know he wanted a small squad, but that was his naivety in coming to the premier league. With or shoestring budget, good know what sort of calibre of players we could add to the squad anyway? We had that under the last few managers, a bloated squad full of mediocrity.
  7. What, too much investment, plenty of quality competition and cover for all positions? Yeah sack Ralph. He had us punching way above our weight and couldn’t sustain it
  8. We are paying the price for lack of investment, we have too many average players and no cover. I don’t know who could do better playing the same cards
  9. That’s what I said
  10. Knackered Bertrand couldn’t keep so wandered inside. You are free to leave you old crock
  11. We no longer create chances in the area, it’s pot shots or it’s receiving the ball with your back to goal with nowhere to go
  12. Think he may have run out of puff
  13. The bollard has gone off, yay
  14. Redmond beat someone! Made a lash up of the cross though, but it’s a start
  15. Got Ings and minmouseo to bring on this time though,
  16. Wash your mouth out!
  17. At least we can’t lose after taking the lead, one less thing for the commentators to dribble on about
  18. Watch Tella Redmond
  19. Rom Tackle worth a goal
  20. Bristol City, 1977. 2 nil to Phil Boyer, Phil Boyer, 1st divisions top scorer.... My interest was sparked by a previous cup game against Leeds at the Dell which I didn't attend. For the first time in my life I could hear the roar of the crowd from my house in Bitterne Park and see the glow of the lights. I enjoyed the Bristol City Game, watching Boyer hanging in the air for five or so minutes to get purchase on the header, but what hooked me was a subsequent game against against WBA in the late rounds of the FA cup. For those that weren't around to hear the atmosphere on a cup night, at the all standing in the lower tiers, 30,000 capacity Dell, you really missed something that will never be repeated. WBA were something back then, Ron Atkinson as manager, players including Brian Robson, Cyril Regis, Lawrie Cunningham (RIP), (both amazing physical specimens), Derek Statham etc. Always had a soft spot for them since. Them were the days!
  21. True, he has had a bit of a dip, but most of it can be attributed to lack of opportunities being created for him. Give him even half chances he will score more often than not.
  22. Was he? I thought he started there but it seemed Bednarek took over as right back and Djenepo went to right mid, he did seem to cover back a lot. Really impressed with him today, he’d clearly had enough of losing
  23. Not sure if he’s (Ings) especially out of form, maybe a little dip, but there is only so much a striker can do when we barley set up decent attacking moves. He’s probably even more important in a side that isn’t creating much.
  24. Did very well, but Moussa for me
  25. I wasn’t singling him out, just thought the old frustrating traits were present today. I don’t think he was especially bad, just his usual self.
