Got 12 games to prove he’s the right person to take the club forward supposedly, if we start badly, it wouldn’t surprise me for him to be gone.

2022/23 Fixtures - Spurs (a) First

Spurs (A), Leeds (H), Leicester (A), Man Utd (H), chelsea (A), Wolves (H)…”apparently”… maybe day one of these leaks might be right…? -
Looks like a good bit of business. Hopefully we can bring in a decent CB partner to play alongside Sali, and a decent DM to play alongside Prowsey, and we might start to leak a few less goals. Fully expect him to be our no 1. Looks a class act already. Exciting one.
-
No idea, first I've heard of it tbh.
-
Cheap when they're talking about Rice being £150m+ I'd expect him to be upwards of £40m, especially to a "top 6" club.
-
Think he sounds like a good fit for our system. box to box midfielder, hard working, can transition the ball. Looks a better fit for how we want to play than Romeu.
-
Not sure anyone suggested that. Just that he'd had a few competant games at CB. He's still a very limited footballer.
-
He'd be a class signing, but it won't happen.
-
I’ve heard we’re happy for Armstrong to go as long as we get a decent fee for him. If Boro offered us £12-15m I would expect him to go, and probably do a good job there.
-
And maybe they will be, but right now they're not going to offer us more than Long IMO. There is no risk in it. And actually, he proved this season he still has something to offer.
-
Got no problem with us offering Long a small 1 year deal. Clearly very important round the changing room, fine as a rare sub. Get rid of A Armstrong and keep Long as fourth choice striker. Bring in a new first choice striker and a younger player on loan and I'd be pretty happy with that.
-
Because he's played in the premier league, he's a striker, long contract I'm guessing, he's scored a few and thats the market rate. They can ask for whatever they want, but doesnt meant they'll get it. Just like we'd probably want £25m for Adams if we sold him.
-
But we have Macca and have some for a few seasons and haven’t been relegated. I don’t think he’s very good, but it’s not like he’s completely out of his depth. We were never going to sign another “proven” GK and pay him the same wage as Macca. Bazanu comes in as the cheap option and hopefully ousts Macca. It might go horrendously and they’re both awful, in which case we have the.chance to address it in Jan. feels like really good business to me.
-
I mean having 2 shit expensive keepers. You’re better off have 2 shit keepers, 1 expensive and one cheap! Problem is we’ve kept Macca and lost Fraser.
-
You say the window isn’t open yet…plenty of clubs have done business and joined clubs, guessing it’s the day they can be entered into payroll. But one of the reasons why we kept 1 of Macca and Fraser, was that we didn’t want 2 keepers on £70k odd a week. We’re not going to keep Macca and sign Pope, nor would we ever do. That money is better spent elsewhere in the squad.
-
Money, and sell on value. Personally think he could be a really good signing, and I don’t really care too much about an experienced head. We need someone who will suit our style, play out from the back for example. Let’s just hope he’s a decent keeper too. He can’t be any worse than Macca.

Yes.

Fraser Forster - Official: Signs for Spurs

He was on something like £60k plus bonuses I believe. -
Not very good at all defensively but capable of a bit of magic that no one in our squad has. I’d definitely take him, but would cost £30m+ and probably already on £100k week.
-
£17m is the market. We just don't shop in it.

Not sure I agree really, he was contending with england no 1 spot, and we'd had a history of losing our best players. We wanted to tie him down for the best bit of his career. There is a risk with any contracts, and unfortunately, for us, he lost his way and got injured. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they dont. We could be saying the same thing about JWP right now, but he's kept improving and getting better and now we're sat here thinking we won't lose our best player and if we do it will be for mega money on our terms. I'm not sure it was "stupid" really. -
He's garbage at most levels.
-
Not necessarily. Maybe he’s on £100k a week for 1 year, but possibly he wants a 3 year contract on £60k? £9.5m vs £5m? Not saying he won’t possibly want Utd to contribute to his first year to leave, but doesn’t mean we’d have to pay it. FWIW, I think he’d be a decent option. Exactly the sort of player that Salisu needs, and he’s better than Bednarek and Stephens with 1 leg.
-
He not signed a new contract ? Thought he had? Maybe we can swap him for Armstrong
