  1. €18m is a bit mad really. For someone who has underperformed and barely played for quite a few years. Double what they paid for him. Bonkers really
  2. For me it’s probably a 7. He’s galvanised the club, which let’s be honest, was completely fucked when he joined. The larger issue being that we’ve not yet pushed on from that first full season. But it’s clearly driven quite a lot by the club and lack of funds. The but I struggle with is he has runs where I’d mark him 9/10 or even 10, and then he has runs when he’s more of a 1 or 2/10. Which for me is why he splits opinions so much. If we had the same results but split differently across the season, I don’t know whether people would be more favourable towards him or not. But there is no doubt the terrible runs are not acceptable and the fact the team seems to lose motivation once we think we’re safe. Assume it won’t just be on results but progression too. Feels like this is the first full off season, we’ve been able to spend a bit without it being funded by losing our best player. Will be an interesting first third of the season for sure.
  3. Absolutely, but I heard saints thought them and Chelsea had a deal agreed. I wonder if it will affect the deal for Harvey Vale
  4. I was under the impression that we are keen, wanted another Loan with an option to buy, and since chelsea have been touting him around to other clubs, driving the price up. Heard saints are fuming,
  5. Fully expecting him to be starting with us, possibly not at the very start of the season, but can imagine the plan is first choice alongside Salisu.
  6. Not sure I agree with that. I do like him, but he was pretty woeful for the last few months of the season. Without a doubt he has potential, but it’s still only that. If we don’t have the money I’m glad we’re looking for alternatives across the continent for much less money, but they need to be the right person.
  7. Got 12 games to prove he’s the right person to take the club forward supposedly, if we start badly, it wouldn’t surprise me for him to be gone.
  8. Spurs (A), Leeds (H), Leicester (A), Man Utd (H), chelsea (A), Wolves (H)…”apparently”… maybe day one of these leaks might be right…?
  9. Looks like a good bit of business. Hopefully we can bring in a decent CB partner to play alongside Sali, and a decent DM to play alongside Prowsey, and we might start to leak a few less goals. Fully expect him to be our no 1. Looks a class act already. Exciting one.
  10. No idea, first I've heard of it tbh.
  11. Cheap when they're talking about Rice being £150m+ I'd expect him to be upwards of £40m, especially to a "top 6" club.
  12. Think he sounds like a good fit for our system. box to box midfielder, hard working, can transition the ball. Looks a better fit for how we want to play than Romeu.
  13. Not sure anyone suggested that. Just that he'd had a few competant games at CB. He's still a very limited footballer.
  14. He'd be a class signing, but it won't happen.
  15. I’ve heard we’re happy for Armstrong to go as long as we get a decent fee for him. If Boro offered us £12-15m I would expect him to go, and probably do a good job there.
  16. And maybe they will be, but right now they're not going to offer us more than Long IMO. There is no risk in it. And actually, he proved this season he still has something to offer.
  17. Got no problem with us offering Long a small 1 year deal. Clearly very important round the changing room, fine as a rare sub. Get rid of A Armstrong and keep Long as fourth choice striker. Bring in a new first choice striker and a younger player on loan and I'd be pretty happy with that.
  18. Because he's played in the premier league, he's a striker, long contract I'm guessing, he's scored a few and thats the market rate. They can ask for whatever they want, but doesnt meant they'll get it. Just like we'd probably want £25m for Adams if we sold him.
  19. But we have Macca and have some for a few seasons and haven’t been relegated. I don’t think he’s very good, but it’s not like he’s completely out of his depth. We were never going to sign another “proven” GK and pay him the same wage as Macca. Bazanu comes in as the cheap option and hopefully ousts Macca. It might go horrendously and they’re both awful, in which case we have the.chance to address it in Jan. feels like really good business to me.
  20. I mean having 2 shit expensive keepers. You’re better off have 2 shit keepers, 1 expensive and one cheap! Problem is we’ve kept Macca and lost Fraser.
  21. You say the window isn’t open yet…plenty of clubs have done business and joined clubs, guessing it’s the day they can be entered into payroll. But one of the reasons why we kept 1 of Macca and Fraser, was that we didn’t want 2 keepers on £70k odd a week. We’re not going to keep Macca and sign Pope, nor would we ever do. That money is better spent elsewhere in the squad.
  22. Money, and sell on value. Personally think he could be a really good signing, and I don’t really care too much about an experienced head. We need someone who will suit our style, play out from the back for example. Let’s just hope he’s a decent keeper too. He can’t be any worse than Macca.
  23. He was on something like £60k plus bonuses I believe.
