  1. Just how many other Stadiums have mixed developments next to them? Dorchester got a new stadium as they allowed a new tesco's to be built next door, Coventry have a hotel and conference centre at the Ricoh, West Ham have a hotel in one of their stands. The list can go on. They are all ways to cover the cost of building a new ground, or generating income from it. You can't beat Lowe with a stick for attempting to do the same. I doubt very much that Stoneham residents would have been opposed to the site being used for any of those other things, rather than a football ground.
  2. Yes and left those of us that have truly supported our club through it's darkest times with the prospect of having no club at all. If the 15,000 of us that have turned up through the thin and thinner had been 'boycotting' the club, it would have been liquidated months ago. So go and try to score some points with other mindless t*ats, like the local NF party members, not with people who have cared and have done enough to get the club to this point. PS. I'm not attacking those that stayed away because of the product on display, I believe that all of us who continued to attend, probably thought twice on occassion.
  3. I read the other day that Gareth Taylor was released by Saints. I'm pretty sure that Le Saux said that Saints turned him down when he was a nipper.
  4. Would split the fanbase again, I can't stand his unattractive football, and think he has been out of the loop for too long now. But as with posts above, the fact is, he was a Lowe appointment, which automatically excludes him from Saints bright new start. Or does the fact that he won a few games make it alright for him to have been appointed by Lowe? If Wotte is to go, then i'd like to see Tisdale, Sean O'Driscoll or Eddie Howe take over, all three have done excellent jobs with their respective clubs. O'Driscoll and Tisdale have been a success at both the clubs they have managed and Howe pulled off a miracle at the Fitness First last season.
  5. I think this can be explained by Kelvins comments after the Wednesday debacle, where he said that they had prepared really well, but the team just didn't turn up. He sounded pretty pi*sed off with his outfield players after the game. So I would suggest that Wotte, was doing things right, but the players didn't have the fight or skill level in them, to do the job. The manager is responsible for and can do all the proper preparation but the application comes down to the players. Lets face it, he didn't have much in reserve to replace any underperforming players with, and if he'd have dropped Saga for either Bradley or Paterson, I can imagine the outcry there would of been from our fans. I think the key reason we didn't quite pull it off, was Gillets injury against QPR, it mean't he was less effective in that game which we could of won and then missed the important games after that one. With him fully fit and in the team I think we would of won at least 2 more games and drawn a couple more as well. Like others I wouldn't mind if he was still the manager next season, but also wouldn't mind if he was replaced with someone who has more knowledge of the english leagues.
  6. As much as I dislike them, they are an attractive proposition for takeover. They have, a Premier League place, an owner cancelling half their debt, owning the local rubbish pit even if they are only allowed to use it once every couple of weeks, The England World Cup bid virtually telling them that they are going to allocate a hefty amount of funding to them for a new stadium, if the bid is successful. So I wont be surprised to see them get another owner, I just hope that Saints get one as well.
  7. A member of the London Saints who knew Jack Walker, once told me that if Blackburn hadn't of been his childhood team, he would of invested his money in Saints. Apparently he loved the atmosphere of the club and the passion of it's fans and was impressed at the way in which it constantly punched above it's weight and bloodied the noses of the big boys. Shows that people used to have a fondness for Saints, and I very much doubt any Saints fan would of complained about buying the title in 95.
  8. Agree with you there, I could hardly believe it when I watched the interview with the guy from the bid and he was saying that that they were going to provide finance for ground building and redevelopment in the south. As we all know, our fishy neighbours are the only ones in need of that at present. So it sounds as though the World Cup bid is going to build them a new stadium at little expense to their club, lucky b**tards. With all of the money that gets given to that dump of a city absolutely free, i'm surprised that the national lottery jackpot is not won by someone from skatesmouth every week.
  9. I've just listened to that interview, and would say that in my opinion, he didn't sound emotional but was walking whilst he was talking. He does sound fairly sure that even with some of the investors getting cold feet, they will still be able to make bid for the club. So although things look a little darker, there is still a little ray of hope.
  10. Is it not a possibility that both the Pinnacle and MJ bids had the funds and were ready to deal for the club which included the stadium within it's price, but when the other guy came along with his bid for St Marys, the administrators realised that they could get more of a price for the stadium on it's own, so told the bidders to increase their offer for the stadium or a deal would not be done?
  11. Pretty good song, hope it gets released to the shops.
  12. Yes Beattie and Delap, have both said that it's very sad to see Saints predicament and Beattie also said that the best period of his career was his time at Saints. Which to my knowledge, is more than Bridge has said. I know a lot of people slate him, but I do think Beatts has a genuine fondness for Saints.
  13. My girlfriend told me last week, that it was reported in the evening standard that an Arsenal fan had killed himself just because they got knocked out of the Champions League. Surely, if they had had to go through what Saints fans have been through in the last five years, there'd be no Arsenal fans left.
  14. Isn't krap nottarf situated on the Island of Dr Moreau? Surely he'd only need to go to Paulsgrove to pick up any number of freaky exhibits for his zoo! Move along Mr wacko jacko, Poopey is your neverland! Please don't try to mate Westwood with anything though, the outcome would doom all humankind.
  15. Surely this is the relevant point here? If the offer of £8 million is for the football club and not SLH, then it is a good offer. Didn't Fry originally say that the clubs assets were worth around the £700,000 mark? If so, the 8 or 9 million figure would more than likely cover both the club and an offer to purchase St Marys. Alternatively, if no one matches Aviva's valuation of St Marys as a cash asset, wouldn't they just cancel their attempts to off load it and let whoever took over the club, carry on with the mortgage payments? It's been reported that the mortgage payments are not in arrears, so the new owners should be able to service the payments from revenue. As I have posted before, I remember Rupert addressing a meeting of London Saints shortly before the club moved into St Marys, where he said that the club could continue to service the mortgage on gates of around 15,000. It is paramount that the club, has ownership of St Marys, for the extra revenue that the stadium can generate, so fingers crossed ladies and gentlemen.
  16. We definetly need to keep hold of Gillett, he was sorely missed when he got injured last season, and has a good deal of experience of the league we now find ourselves in, so will be an integral part of the team next season. He'd be even better if he had the confidence to shoot more often as well, I saw him hit some really sweet shots from outside the box for the reserves a few years back.
  17. It could be argued that a large percentage of those that attended the last three home games, were doing so for the good of the club, when they knew the seriousness of the situation, and were staying away as a result of the product being served up on the pitch. The weakening of the team was a cost cutting measure foisted on the club and SLH by their bankers, in an attempt to get SLH and the club back on an even keel, so is not really Lowe's fault. We all know the other areas where he was at fault, but when he left the club, he left them with money in the bank and further funds to come through the various transfer payments outstanding. In the time he was gone, all of that money was frittered away, and we all know the consequence of that action. You can blame him for not speculating to accumulate in 2003 and for disastrous managerial appointments there after, but not for SLH and the clubs financial predicaments, that lies squarely at the feet of those that came after him. Yes Lowe has an over inflated ego, but he does sometimes show some humility, let's not forget he admitted that he had made mistakes when he was ousted, I haven't seen or heard either of the other two say the same. I just hope we have a future where none of them are anything more than just fans of our team. I'm not a Lowe supporter, I just want a balanced and fair criticism for all members of the triumvirate of doom.
  18. Of those 44 players on the Utd programme, most of them would of been household names and players that Utd have paid a fee for, whereas at least 12 of those listed in our squad are either homegrown or haven't commanded a fee. On the subject of free's and unknown players, Luton managed to put together a full squad in less than two weeks last season, of unknown and free transfer players who actually did a pretty good job for them. And Bournemouth brought that lumbering donkey fletcher out of the retirement home, and he turned their season around. So just because you haven't heard of them, it doesn't mean a player is no good. I'm sure there are a lot of non league players out there that could do a good job for Saints in the league we are now in.
  19. He's not fit to lace Danny Guthrie's boots.
  20. In a way it wasn't a bolt, as we were in the red in an economy where banks were attempting to claw back every penny they could. However, the problem here and where Lowe earns a bit of credit and Barclays have to pick up some of the blame, is that the board had done what Barclays had asked of them, and reduced costs and debt by six million pounds in one season. So when Barclays allegedly then turned round and moved the goalposts again and wanted further debt reduction before they would allow any further borrowing for operating capital, that is where administration became a certainty. If they had held off for a couple of months, and allowed some extra borrowing, Saints may still have had a place in the division, thus giving an extra 2.1 million of revenue with the increased tv cash, Saints would also have been able to sell season tickets and memberships, generating more revenue and further reducing the debt. Then over the summer, the club could of been put up for sale, with the major shareholders having been made aware of the situation and having been told that they would have to accept a less than modest offer for their shares or get almost nothing if the company then went into admin. As for Aviva, they only really became a problem, when the club went into administration, as the mortgage repayments have been met and are not in arrears.
  21. Whilst I dislike Chelski immensly and like you was having a chuckle at Barca scoring, I do feel sorry for them for being cheated out of the final. I'm sure that ref has been in charge of one of Saints matches, judging from his display.
  22. I remember being at a London Saints meeting with Rupert Lowe at the time, and Lowe hinting that the club were being put under pressure by the FA to act, as the allegations were of so serious a nature.
  23. I'll own up to not wanting the arrogant t*sser back, and it's not about him leaving us to go to his beloved Spurs. It's about the mind numbingly boring football we played under his leadership, which was only punctuated by heavy and embarassing defeats, rather than big wins. You can argue, that under his leadership we had a tighter defence, but in his time at Saints, we did not have Callum Davenport, Olivier Bernard, an under strength midfield or a Claus who for most of the relegation season didn't know his arse from his elbow, let alone how to defend properley. So I very much doubt we would of had a wonderfully different season, we may even have had a very much worse one. He is very much not, my personal jesus!
  24. I say 'Good Luck' to Norwich, i'd love to see them joining Saints in getting promotion next season. They are like Saints and Charlton, a medium sized club, who mixed it with and have given a bloody nose to the premierships big boys. So I have a respect for them for their achievements. Jon Hare, the creator of the Sensible Soccer computer games is a Norwich supporter, and regularly attends their matches, after their game on Monday evening he texted me as he was leaving Carrow Road to say that they would be joining us in League 1 next season.
  25. Did his best to wind up our players when we played them at St Mary's the other week. He had a go at Gillett, Wotton and McGoldrick. Maybe though, he was just telling them as a fan, that their performances aren't up to playing for Saints.
