http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/pfa_seek_answer_to_pompey_wages_woe_1_3500725?commentspage=2 Interesting that the PFA say that Pompey need the parachute money to pay the players ! It contradicts the view that they have the funds but only the (lack of) validation order is holding them back !! It's 10 days now since the staff should have been paid and nothing has happened, this strongly implies to me that they are totally skint !!

When I heard the 'Adkins out, Warnock in' comment on Solent tonight I thought that it was just some nutter seeking a moment in the limelight ! Now that I see some posters on here giving tacit agreement, I just feel despair ! Despair not for the club but for the sad individuals who just cannot seem to comprehend that routinely sacking the manager is not the way to move forward and implement a sensibly agreed 5 year plan ! The progress made since Adkins arrived here 18 months ago has been nothing short of staggering and he fully deserves to see out his existing contract irrespective of what happens between now and the end of the season !

And you wonder why you are branded as a 'Thick Skate' !

You wouldn't have thought it possible but fair play to him, he's managed it

I am happy to note that Mr Chanrai is back in the fold and aiming to 'sort out' the mess at ground level ! This will enable the club to limp along whilst incurring more debts (at high interest rates!) and ensuring that we have further entertainment on this thread ! It's been suggested that Lumpitt may be sacked, although this would be illegal. (Not that it would worry AA or Chinny!). Clearly there has been a 'falling out' between DL and AA over the lack of transfers in Jan, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if he walked ! Let's face it, he's hardly going to stay on for the money as he no doubt hasn't been paid recently either !!

For the last 4 years of my working life, my commute went like this : Monday. Taxi to W.Cowes (25 mins). Redjet to Southampton (23 mins) Taxi to airport (15 mins) Plane to Brussels (70 mins) Taxi to appartment (15 mins) Return on Thursday evening. Mon to Thurs I was based in Brussels but regularly travelled to other European cities and 3 or 4 times a year I did a working tour of the Far East ! In my final year I was on more than 120 different flights ! Better stop now or Dubai Phil will think he has a rival

I am happy to see that some posters recognise Guly's talents and his contribution to our (so far!) very successful season ! More importantly Nigel Adkins and his (experienced!) backroom team of football specialists recognise this too and play him regularly ! It's not difficult to differentiate between the knowledgable and the idiots on here at the best of times but this thread does seem to emphasise it very clearly !!

Be interesting how the punters go about getting a refund on their ticket money ???

Is it really almost a month since the "We should have a buyer in place within the next 24 hours!" statements ?? Anyone who believes that Admin Andy is not 'full of sh#t' should really think again ! Ho ho ho........

FWIW, here is my (long winded!) contribution : I am appalled that the Prime Minister has supported the suggestion that Portsmouth Football club be shown favour over their 'winding up petition' with HMRC. Even a cursory enquiry into the recent history of this business would reveal serious concerns of financial skullduggery ! Having written off around £20 million within the last two years, HMRC is duty bound to ensure that there is no recurrence of this illegality and every honest, hard working taxpayer deserves no less ! The local MP clearly sees some electoral advantage in tabling the question but is extremely naive in expecting law abiding citizens to support such folly ! In the current economic climate, there are many deserving causes which have suffered due to lack of government funding. I urge you, Prime Minister, to retract your support for PFC and to back the judgement of HMRC as they stand up for the long suffering taxpayer !

Agent Tom is doing a sterling job

My guess is that Lambert/Sharp would be the preferred option with Guly somewhere behind them (in the formation!). Lee will most likely be a sub until he familiarises with English football ! Connolly, Barnard and De Ridder (if he is not used on the wing!) will struggle for games except for the cup matches ! All IMHO of course !

Here's a classic from the News comments section : blueshirt Monday, January 30, 2012 at 06:31 PM just seen this story on the BBC sports site.. what really annoys me is the headline for the story on that page.. It reads" Pompey fail to pay players wages" which to me, anyway, implies that the players are not being paid because Pompey are at fault and are failing in their contractual obligations, rather than highlighting the fact that they are actually being prevented from fulfilling those obligations by the actions of HMRC in freezing the bank account, which puts an entirely different slant on the story...................by all means BBC, report on the ongoing situation at PFC, but do so fairly, and tell people that it is HMRC who have prevented Pompey from paying their staff wages, rather than that Pompey have "Failed" to do so ..........

Ooooh eck, I'm starting to get just a teeny weeny bit worried about our fishy fiends ! Ho ho ho

The 5th Round Draw - Bolton at home (if we beat Millwall!)

Brighton at SMS ! -
The biggest plus is that we preserved the AAA status because of the approach to spending cuts which gives huge interest charge savings on the monstrous national debt which they inherited ! Also a special mention for standing up to 'Merkosy' over the Eurozone bailout ! The biggest minus so far is that they haven't yet come to grips with immigration, human rights fiascos and benefit reform ! Could have been a lot worse IMHO !
-
You should be happy that you are tolerated on here ! I would add that since you were 'outed', you have been treated pretty kindly IMO, so no need to gloat !

Plucky Pompey`s Plight- pledge your cash here..
eurosaint replied to ALWAYS_SFC's topic in The Lounge
I was inclined to pledge the pickings from my nose, but have reconsidered and feel that even this would be a step too far !!! -
I hope that his nickname does not end up as 'Brenda'

I'm sure that Cortese and Adkins will be grateful for your advice, perhaps you should send them an e-mail outlining the full strategy which you require them to follow !!
-
To be fair, Mandaric wasn't around at that time and place ! Peter Storrie was in charge, so I'm sure that everything would have been kosher !!
-
You have just given us the definition of 'greed' ! (a bit slow off the mark there, others have said the same, must be true then !)
-
I'll say it again. We will not finish in the top 2!
eurosaint replied to Cestrian Saint's topic in The Saints
If only Cortese had the foresight and business acumen of Alpine-Saint ? If only Adkins had the positivity and motivational skills of Dalek2003 ? If only we had Cestrian Saint as head of PR ? If only the Professor was Director of Football ? If only, if only................
