We should take no blame whatsoever. Players know when they come here they will be playing in front of gates that will eclipse many Championship teams' crowds. If they feel intimidated by that they shouldn't come here in the first place or should volunteer for the exit door if they can't hack it. (Although if they sustain their shocking efforts, those gates may collapse.) Our fans have overdosed on dross. Again this miserable and dreadful team were booed off and Fratton emptied at a breathtaking rate yesterday. I am not one to leave until the final whistle...then I say I what I think. You leave and you hear snippets of conversations from the despairing masses: 'it is only two that go down into the Conference, isn't it?'Is Fratton becalmed this season?Watching this garbage, is it any wonder? Is the consequence of shame atonment? No, it's going from bad to even worse. We concede and cue the rousing of our team...to no discernible effect. Into the last minute of the Wycombe game- the fourth minute of injury time- and a corner given away by a ghastly sliced clearance from N'Gala. The first corner is just about survived and put behind by Carson. The next? Bundled into our net. I said to my fellow season-ticket holder: 'There will be a riot if this goes in.' Of course it did. There wasn't a riot or any anger. It was as if fans expected the worst and duly it arrived. As far as making mistakes go, they have been making them since day one of the season and probably before that since we leaked like a sieve even in pre-season. The players aren't good enough. The key is to make them tolerably bad so as to get us through the season with Conference status averted. So because the mistakes have flowed from the start and our players move from one game to another inexorably going from defensive cock-up to another, the fans are in no way culpable. This lot don't need barracking to induce fear into making errors. They do it of their own volition without our 'help'. I have no confidence in the players and I will tell this to their faces. I am disgusted with the results and performances this season. I am not going to post one thing on here and say another thing to their faces if I ever met them. Make no mistake, the patient isn't on the financial life support machine anymore, but the patient is still gravely sick. The Wallace money must be used to good effect. Five games in 15 days. Five season-defining games.Coppell and Richie, work the alchemist's touch. When you look at what our fans have had to endure- administrations, humiliations, relegations, pure rot on the field- I am sorry, but there comes a time when the players have to do something to raise the crowd; habitually and historically we do it for the players. They must reciprocate and give us something about which to cheer. How come this never affects Rangers who have home crowds of 45,000 and the rest of the league have a few hundred ! They have a 100% record at the moment ! Maybe the Skates are just sh#t, or has that not occurred to them ??

Rickie's England shirt up (vs Germany) for auction...
eurosaint replied to Minty's topic in The Saints
How much did it go for, in the end ?? -
Charlie Miller, the guy who introduced football to Brazil !!

Belgium has a national day and many people hang their flags off balconies and out of windows etc.. Problem is that they generally hang them sideways which turns it into the German flag inducing the odd brick through windows* from visiting Brits !!! (* poetic licence there but quite funny nonetheless!)

I agree but don't expect the wrist slitters to give him even a smidgen of sympathy or encouragement !!

Gonna be difficult to avoid conceding goals against a prolific City side ! My prediction is that Gazza will be Saturday's scapegoat (although Ossie will obviously run him close!!).

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-3 Aston Villa
eurosaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A good rational post IMO (especially as written at one o clock in the morning!). Others have said how carp Villa were but seemingly ignore the fact that they have one of the best away records in the league and are the only team to beat Arsenal at the Emirates ! They set out to soak up pressure and have serious pace on the counter attack, that's how they do it and it seems to work ! It strikes me that the most critical posters were not actually at the match and did not appreciate just how much effort our lads put in, sure we made a few critical blunders but there is no denying that the spirit is good and this bodes well for when we come out of this poor run of results ! COYS. -
I'd like to pick out the highlight in a sea of bullsh:t ! We didn't lose to Sunderland !

Reading this gives me a real feeling of déjà vue ! I was there with my daughter the day that Beattie scored in the first 12 seconds and we then lost (just like yesterday). We chatted to Kevin Davies and Brett Ormerod after the game in the players lounge, with me famously asking Brett how he enjoyed his time on the pitch, only for him to point out that he was an unused substitute ! Maybe I was starstruck (doh!) but being a good lad we had a laugh about it !! As hospitality goes it was probably as good as I've had in England (had much better in Holland, Germany and Italy though!).

We're doomed, I tell you, we're doomed

Russell Brand rages at Rupert Murdoch and The Sun
eurosaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Lounge
'Seems' is the key word here ! Even the Mirror's traditional vitriol against Lady T has had to be tempered by the fact that they don't actually know if this happened ! Maybe they should check out the financial arrangements of Blair, Mandelson etc.. The guys they supported for so long ! -
I'm afraid that our enforced substitutions unsettled and weakened us whereas theirs gave them a new impetus (that's what you get with a big expensive squad!) No disaster having plummeted to seventh ( just above Man U !) We are still doing well, it's only the expectations that have changed !!

Comment from a Skate on the News comments site : "I dont think at 60 odd and at his stage of his career needs to be managing a League 2 club however big the fanbase and support. However Warnock loves Portsmouth fans so you never know" I guess this would be the same Neil Warnock who recently managed Leeds Utd, having an average crowd of approximately double that of the plucky phew ??

I pray that this happens, I've missed his classic after match, comedy interviews so much
-
You're too polite Minty, he's talking out of his arse (as ever) ! The two goals were clearly individual errors and absolutely nothing to do with the make up of the back five !!
-
Very disappointed that they did not discuss the penalty decision, surely Hansen as a former defender should have commented that shirt pulling ( whilst wrong) should be consistently judged ! Ie. all or nothing ! It happens a dozen times each match but is seldom penalised ! Personally I would outlaw it completely and in this case feel that the BBC should at least have highlighted it !

Best Places to Live in Britain - Southampton No 4
eurosaint replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Lounge
If Bracknell is rated number 1 then this report is a load of b.ollocks !!!! -
Word is that they found an old recreation ground and use jumpers for goalposts ! All is hunky dory now
-
This might well be a naive question but "is it legal to show a live stream in a public place" ?? By the sounds of it they used Wiziwig, Frontrow or similar so I'm not sure that is kosher ! Would be surprised of course if the Skates (knowingly?) broke the law !!
-
Oops, 4-0 and Dons missed a pen as well !
-
I presume that this is what Factless will describe as a 'constructive walk out' ! A bit like their selective booing, eh ?
-
For some reason this reminds me of the old story of an inmate at the lunatic asylum who raped a cleaning lady before escaping and going on the run ! The newspaper headline the following day was : "Nut screws washer and bolts"
-
I thought that the ref and his assistants were about the best we've seen this season ! Sure, you can dispute the odd offside etc. but compared to some of the dross that we have been subjected to, I think that they did very well !

Those valuations are a joke ! Fox is worth £400k more than JWP ? Start again !
