Long was ready BEFORE the game resumed play. He was on the sideline with his shirt on when Gabbi was down injured and immediately after play resumed they cut to a shot of him stood next to the fourth official.

Absolutely this, the ball before was lofted high in the air and came down bang on the 6 yard line. If that isn't his to claim then what the f*ck is. I was hugely excited when we signed him but he's gone backwards. We need to try and sell him in the summer and get one of Pickford, Heaton or Begovic in.

He doesn't play in DM for Northern Ireland though. I rate Davis, think he has much to offer us in an attacking sense, but he has never, ever performed in defensive midfield for us against all but the worst teams.

Thing is, centrebacks don't usually hit their peak for another 4-5 years, sometimes longer (Fonte, Vidic...). We shouldn't give up on him, and as our season is risk-free right now it's the perfect opportunity to give him top class experience and learn from his mistakes with little real consequence.

6 from 9 all away. Nothing new in that game...defense is shaky, Forster is uncommanding, Davis is sh*t in DM but we have to fit him in somehow when Hojberg or Clasie should be given chances.

He has always been sh*te in defensive midfield, from day one. Much better further forward. Todays performance was no surprise to those of us who are objective.

Except those two times when he was onside. Long has played well, won a lot of headers up top.

Initially thought so, on second viewing other keepers would have just fallen on it...he just rather flapped at it.

Davis in DM does not and has never worked against all but the worst teams. He's too weak defensively and too far back for his decent attacking play to be effective.
