  1. Looking at this it looked like he played at left back; http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/4906698.stm Weird that McGoldrick started, 3 seasons before he became a regular starter under Poortvliet. He definitely played for us, at home to Wigan maybe?
  2. Unbelievable. How old was the son, i'm guessing under 18 and so the money was left in his mothers care or something...?
  3. Guessing it was recently and she's not looking as good in her 40s.
  4. The first season he was at Southampton Cortese raved about him in an interview, saying what a fantastic job he was doing. So something happened between promotion to the Championship and the final few months of the next season that changed his mind. Any ideas? Did Adkins make any monumentally awful decisions in games in the Championship season that cost us points? I guess Cortese thought that having been top of the league for so long to let it slip away was pretty poor, and indeed had we won the game at home to Reading we WOULD have finished top.
  5. I'm one of the three but I don't think his passes go astray often OR that he's been performing badly, quite the opposite. But i've noticed that almost every game he's caught in possession because he's held onto the ball too long. But as I said, other than those instances his performances are still brilliant and he'd still be in the team every week for me - just needs to cut out the moments where he dawdles on the ball under pressure.
  6. What a strange way to phrase it.
  7. Excellent player, and very consistent, but the OP is right. Davis has given the ball away on quite a few big occasions recently, and it has led to a goal at least once at home to City. He's still been very good in these games but it's something he never used to do, and it's very odd that it's suddenly crept into his game.
  8. Didn't he play most of last season after that though?
  9. In the United game in one of the papers Gardos was given a 6, Blind was given an 8
  10. Thought for a while that his finishing isn't actually anything special, he just gets so many chances that he invariably gets a decent return of goals. I'll admit to being worried at how wasteful he is sometimes, he seems to be caught in two minds a lot when trying to play the killer ball and not quite pulling it off. Leads the line as well as anyone i've ever seen, no doubt. Hold up play and flick ons (although people need to run beyond him more!) are fantastic. Sorry to say that it's a position that can definitely be improved upon though.
  11. Dickson and Seaborne? Bit harsh, they both did a decent job for us. Replace them with Forren and Mellis and you're onto something.
  12. Agreed, it's Lambert. Possibly our best ever signing.
  13. Would have made a much better replacement for Pelle up top than Long, might have even gone through in the league cup had he been fit.
  14. He was the only person in the stadium who saw it as offside.
  15. QPR at home, with their terrible away record? They NEED the home wins. As for Palace, maybe...but I don't see Pardew wanting his side to play that way.
  16. Absolutely. Funny how the replays all start just after the handball by Colback.
  17. Weird, I thought EXACTLY the same thing.
  18. Meh, we've done the "impossible" time after time this season. 9 wins in a row broken by a defeat away to Chelsea. I'll take that.
  19. Its so basic it's almost instinct. How the hell he's got that wrong i do not know.
  20. If you're referring to me, I wasn't comparing them - just saying that he's been here 5 minutes and already been a more effective signing.
  21. "Southampton have more points now than they finished with in the 2012/13 season, with 16 games left".
  22. Have Giroud and Welbeck recovered yet?
  23. Yep. Also got players like McQueen, Gape coming through who seem to be rated by the management. Ward-Prowse could also adapt his game to play a bit further back.
