  1. I think that football fans have problems appreciating central midfielders, regardless of how they play or, more to the point, the role they've been told to play. For an insight into how good a judge this forum is, I'll refer you to the learned opinions / bull**** spouted about Matt Oakley. Dean Hammond isn't the greatest midfielder in the world but then we're not Real Madrid....
  2. Sod off you sad w****r
  3. I can see what Cortese is trying to do (maximise revenue, limit liability) but I think this is a battle we could do without at the moment. The free advertising point is moot as we don't have a sponsor at the moment, but it will become an issue if we seek one. ... But there's a part of me that likes sticking it to journos who, in the most part, are a hypocritical bunch who'll say whatever sells (or whatever their owner tells them to).
  4. What planet are you on? NC is an employee. The club will remain in the ownership of ML's estate and ultimately transfer to whoever he bequeaths it to. Not being a billionaire I don't know how these things work but I suspect the ownership may transfer to a trust with interests from a number of his family.
  5. Anyone who thinks Paul Telfer is a bad player loses respect from me. Telfer was a useful utility player, not a specialist. If you don't think there's a need for that type of player in every squad, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. My opinion, Seabourne is good in patches; a bit of a hoofer but strong in the air. I think that, like most of the team, when under pressure he hoofs more, and it's that that we need to stamp out.
  6. I don't doubt about the £0. However the flip side is they won't have to pay a press photographer to come to Southampton (hotel), have a sandwich at Membry Services or pay his/her fuel costs. In fact it's a great example of Southampton FC helping the battle against climate change.... and, by reducing the cars on the road, making fans journeys easier. How's that for spin?
  7. I rang 6 other clubs and they said, "Who are you and why are you calling so early...." I don't know your background but forgive me if I doubt that you have 'contacts' at four other clubs. Therefore I doubt if they'd give this information over the phone to someone they've never met.
  8. If someone wants your pies you can price them accordingly.
  9. No you're just being illiterate (you can't even spell ****) . The clue is in the "I'm not defending Venables but don't make stuff [up] ". ie. it's not about the offence it's about people's lack of grasp of the facts / deliberate exaggeration (something that seems to be rife on hooligan threads where "all they did was pet kittens and get 3 years for it FFS...."). Let judges be judges.
  10. Good, I like Papa. I think he brings something different. I bet AP will survive if we've made it into the Champions League..... Your last point may be true, but it is a matter of interpretation... i.e. make sure you praise the players, not the manager. Thanks for the info.
  11. I mean't what brmbrm says...... Posters would do well to think about how much they know rather than how much they 'feel'. i.e. **** all vs. outrage.
  12. What he said.
  13. ****
  14. Poor player G - he can't catch a break.
  15. Historically it was in Saint's interest to get season ticket income in early in order to cover the incomeless summer months. Now that's not the case, in fact it is Saints' interest to have as few season tickets as possible. This strategy works when you win games and are doing well which is what Saints expect to do this year.
  16. Absolutely. I can't understand the fuss over this. On the assumption that SFC have to (at a mimimum) cover their costs, effectively SFC have two options: 1) Take the cost of providing the ticket office services per year and divide it by the number of tickets sold. Then put up ticket prices accordingly. 2) Take the cost of providing the ticket office services per year and divide it by the number of transactions actioned by the ticket office. Charge a booking fee accordingly. Having a transaction charge makes everything transparent, it's not stealth, it's not immoral, it's not unethical. It's clear, honest and good business. It also means (which I suspect is why Saints prefer it) that the cost of staffing/printing/selling/dispatching a ticket is predicatable and consistent whether they're selling normal games or special games (eg. JPT final). Probably Saints are making a turn on the transaction fee (for their benefit and convenience / rounding purposes). Not surprising and equally I'd expect them to make a similar percentage as if the cost was hidden in the ticket.
  17. Any sympathy for your argument is lost in that paragraph. Perhaps you should look in the mirror? To follow your argument, Saints have provided the ultimate opportunity for an individual to "to decide if they think it is worth the interest/service charge" by forcing people to go into the wider market. The failure isn't of Saints not providing an installement plan, it's of Saints not providing sufficient communication of their intent. Anyway carry on with your circular arguments. SFC isn't going to change its mind now, regardless of how many diatribes you write.
  18. I'm going for a 0-1 loss against Colchester. Followed by a week of blame and reprisals on this forum. (in advance of this calamitous event, I'll refer people to Norwich's first game last season and leave it at that).
  19. In the context of human history, 'few' is a fluid concept. Relax, let time wash over you and you'll have time to prep your complaints that: - The neck is too tight (too tight, or have you just got a fat neck - That the name printing font should be Bodini 35pt, not 34pt. - That the badge is too scratchy. Plenty of time. And for those who thinks Cortese doesn't listen, I firmly believe the 'no sponsor' decision was driven by the complaints that the sponsor logo was falling off after 3 washes at 4000 degrees centigrade.
  20. Do you still get charged if you book online?
  21. Surely the installment plan is a form of credit!?! Not giving an installment plan is concentrating on Saints' core business (football, not finance) but they should have given more notice. Probably best to let it lie now.
  22. Good point . I borrowed for a car so £125 was a rounding error! Rates are good for a decent credit rating. Ok so not a good idea. Failing that, pimp your sister.
  23. Despite a 'quit moaning' post yesterday, I can understand why this makes it difficult for some. The club should be doing whatever it can to get buyers in the door. However, if as a previous poster suggested they administered it manually last season, I can also see why the club stopped it. So, my solution would be to go to http://www.zopa.com and borrow money from there. Cheaper than a credit card and you can pay back early without penalty. All online. Simple. I've lent and borrowed with them before and it was very easy.
  24. I've just asked the ticket office this. Yes if the seats you want to move to are unoccupied, no if not.
  25. I'm sorry but 28% not renewing smacks of typical forum over reaction. Once the dust has settled people will renew, just like they always do. No repayment plan? Get a 0% credit card. Spent the money you saved? Get some self control. Moaning because the price has gone up? Don't keep asking for new signings. Still good value for a Saturday afternoon in my opinion and in line with other clubs (once you take out some of those 'oop North / in competitive areas). I'll be renewing but I won £12m on the Lotto on Saturday, so cashflow isn't an issue
