  1. I'd prefer a Peterborough win. Whilst I agree that Huddersfield have a harder run in, the quicker their 19 game unbeaten run comes to an end the better. Hopefully then the wheels come off and it's easy street to the Championship! (can only hope )
  2. Agreed. All results are irrelevant unless we keep winning, therefore a Peterborough win is probably the best result.
  3. If I did I think I'd have to question the point of my life.
  4. I think a good question is who in the division would you swap Kelvin for. My answer? No-one. Calamity Joe (Lewis)? Casper is young and makes mistakes (good prospect but give me experience any day). Yes Kelvin makes mistakes but find me a keeper that doesn't. Guly I think has the attributes of a good player but lacks consistency. That's why he / we are in League 1. Chaplow is the only player I have a problem with (and even then I support him), he does the hard things well and then screws up the five yard pass that follows. So frustrating and a yellow card machine too We are a team. Together as one.
  5. Yup, got all the Dan's, let's collect all the Stephens'
  6. That's BS. We played some good stuff in the first half but without any end product. Trying to score the perfect goal when being more direct would have perhaps helped. It's not being ****ed off when we're 2-0 down that's the problem, it's the defeatist, throw in the towel attitude of a percentage of our fanbase - half of whom aren't even listening. Making a judgement based on a text FFS! Fortunately the fans in stadium didn't give up, and for that they'll take away a game that will live long in the memory. If I am ever in the trenches, I hope I am not part of the Saintsweb batallion. "I say chaps, I've got a text from a mate at Ypres, he says they've run out of toilet paper. From that I've concluded they're all dead and we should surrender. Who's with me?"
  7. Prutton's best move was never on the pitch, it was clapping the fans at the end of the game. Get the knuckle draggers onside and you'll be a hero regardless of ability (just ask Ostlund) Great goal for Swindon the other day against Brighton - god awful haircut though.
  8. I know it's an unpopular POV, but I always quite liked Jermaine Wright. Every squad (especially a squad where money is tight) needs a utility player and he was it for us. He always put in a shift and whilst he wasn't the greatest player around, certainly wasn't as bad as so many on here think. Another case in point is Paul Telfer. A player in the same mould, fulfilling the same role, and equally despised. I also think that the SaintsWeb fanbase would list any of our holding CM's - starting with Oakley and continuing to this day. This isn't because they've been bad, just that the role is rarely eye catching QED they're ****.
  9. I agree that confidence is an issue but also complacency. On lower league teams we often don't approach them with the intensity that we should. However, I take confidence from say Sheff Wed where they came and parked the bus in front of the goal and we managed to break them down. That is a tactic that previously we have struggled with. PS. I don't think an average over two games has much credability.
  10. Are you some kind of sicko?
  11. For automatic, at least one more (or equal and a better gd) than the 3rd placed team. HTH
  12. Because he's a bigger and better fan than most of the posters on here tonight. At least he bothers to go to games.....
  13. People need to be a realistic. We're asking for someone to provide short term cover whilst one of our first choice three recover (two of Morgan, Hammond and Chaplow). As a result our options are limited. Howard would have been interested but, I suspect, only with guaranteed playing time. Other than that it is ageing players looking for a last hurrah, untried youngsters or recovering cripples. We may not have a premier league winning midfield pair, but our options for our league position are pretty good. With Gobern and Morgan out, you can understand why we were looking but if there's no one worth having / who wants to warm the bench, there's no point.
  14. Mods - as the starter of the thread I know this sounds strange, but please delete it. Far too many predictions in here. It'll curse us I tell ye!
  15. Good article here from the Peterborough's local paper contrasting the run in's for League 1 contenders. Worth a read ( http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/posh_promotion_prediction_posh_to_just_miss_out_on_automatic_promotion_1_2513109 ) I always worry when people start threads predicting our next X results - invariably we end up underperforming against the prediction. I wonder if he is trying to curse us!! I do agree that Bournmouth may struggle though. Too close to call otherwise between Saints / Posh and Hudders in my opinion. --------------- SOUTHAMPTON Current position: 4th Current points: 61 Matches remaining: 12 v Sheff Wed (h) W v Charlton (a) W v Plymouth (a) W v Mk Dons (h) W v Charlton (h) W v Leyton O (a) D v Rochdale (a) D v Bristol R (h) W v Brighton (a) D v Hartlepool (h) W v Brentford (a) D v Walsall (h) W Predicted points: 89 Predicted finish: 2nd Summary: The Saints have the quality and depth in their squad to cope with a busy end-of-season schedule. They also have the experience to cope with the pressure and expectation of being the favourites for automatic promotion. Posh will need ‘favours’ from Charlton, MK Dons and Brighton if they are to pip Southampton to second place. It could well boil down to goal difference and Saints currently lead Posh by seven goals.
  16. Peterborough will win the league. Saints second. Brighton third. B'mouth 6th or 7th (not certain but it will be goal difference) I am sharing this with you now so that you can marvel at my greatness come May. Kind Regards, Alain.
  17. It's not, more a debunking of a statement that Martin was assured on Tuesday. He wasn't - he won hardly anything in the air (after the first 10 minutes) and was caught out of position a number of times (fortunately unpunished). Don't get me wrong he has the ability and physical stature to be a good CB - Tuesday however wasn't a shining example of what he can offer.
  18. Horses for courses. If Fletcher plays for Bournmouth, Jaidi would counteract him. If Symes is fit, then perhaps Martin would be better for pace. Is Seabourne injured?
  19. Morgan Schneiderlin is that player. Several games where we've been panicky and he's been brought on and calms things down. He always seems like he has a lot of time on the ball I'd personally prefer him to Chaplow in many circumstances. Chaplow frustrates me - he'll do the hard things well (like a ballsy intercept, or winning a ball he's no right to), then he mucks up the 10 yard pass that follows it. Last night for example, suicidal pass straight to one of their players - better opposition would have punished us - Richard Cr@plow more like.
  20. I texted Solent to say that "I Disagree about Deano. There can be too many one minute applauses but more in the programme would have been nice." .... And they read it out as DISGRACE about Deano. Kind of missed the point as they sped by on their bandwagon.
  21. Pity the death of someone so young is being used as a reason to ***** and moan. Personally I think there are too many one minute applauses, there was a high profile (televised) applause at which Beats and Claus were present. Deano didn't play with any of the current squad, so I think (especially after 10 days) it's better not to jump on the bandwagon. Those who saw him play and chanted Deano, Deano to one of his towering headers should be able to pay their respects without the need for anything organised. RIP Deano
  22. Simple. Don't pick up rentboys after a disappointing result. Saves the catholic guilt too.
  23. Ceteris paribus. Colcester have only lost at home in the league twice this season. It's a very good result. It's that kind of attitude (i.e. "we will walk this league") that leads to a) other teams thinking we're ****ers and b) leads to complacency in the team. There's no such thing as an easy win in League 1, today's result was a good one AWAY from home
  24. Personally I think the wheels will come off at Bournmouth at some point. Perhaps next week? Fiar play to Brighton though, they keep digging out results. I am hopeful that the depth of our squad (which may not be fantastic but it is better than most in League 1) will pay off as we approach the tail end of the season.
  25. Ironic that mobile phones led to BWP joining the club and contributed to his leaving the club....
