I work with a Citeh fan. He's just been in to my office for a whinge. Their new shirts are a standard template (wow he knows the key word without reading this forum). Their badge is now a stuck on "piece of sh1t" instead of the stitched in badge they had last year. "Every fan he knows is up in arms about it". Perhaps this Football Shirt issue is bigger than us. Perhaps we could lead a PL Fans revolt against ALL the Kit Manufacturers ripping us ALL off with Krap. Anyway it made me smirk

It has been commented on a few times but here is a more detailed experience. While on Honeymoon in "Old Saigon" our tour guide took us to a temple. He explained the layout, what the figures in different positions meant etc which was interesting but not for here. He then paused to pray before leaving and passed us each a small piece of RED paper approx 1cm x 2cm carefully folded into an envelope type shape "To hold good luck for us". Yes there is Science, but to make more sense from the glib "Red is popular in Asia" comments we'd need a lesson in Confuscian (sic??) Theology (ah yes explains a lot about the Gold leaf on the design)

I'm not grumpy about this season's shirt. I have an opinion that I think it is a crock of sh1t. So personally when I get back this season I won't be buying one. What I will look to buy is a new Tee Shirt or Polo Shirt. I did like last year's (VERY) Dark Blue SFC T-Shirt and a few of us over here have them. Yeah it is DARK blue, doesn't come close to a skate colour, but I wear it down the pub and it looks good. I'll simply wear some of my HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Shirts down the pub or when I get back to SMS next season, they are red and show my colour loyalty. Maybe NEXT year we'll have an all red shirt that doesn't look Naff. Maybe not. No Boycott, no NC is an Evil genius. I just won't wear something that looks like sh1t.

OK here we go, my turn to vent my spleen. (I accept opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they are equally important to each and everyone of us) I have never liked stripes. Yes of course they are us, but I personally have never liked them. Hell we won our biggest trophy NOT wearing them. I have bought far more striped shirts than I should have through the years and I have worn them proudly to games home and away, and hell, even to Test Matches in Aus & Pakistan. But I never LIKED them. I never liked them because they look stupid anywhere EXCEPT a sporting venue. In fact I never wore a striped shirt EXCEPT at a sporting venue. But over the years I wore plain away shirts down the pub or shopping, they never (to me) seemed naff, although I did HATE the sponsor logo. Then came the Sash Shirt. I have worn that EVERYWHERE. I wear it to play golf, I wore it on TV with some of the biggest names when working at golf. I wore it on holiday, down the pub. I STILL wear it. It is a bloody great shirt, hell even Turk's favourite Ralph Lauren copied it (sort of). Last season for much the same reasons I bought the white Away shirt. I have worn that everywhere (EXCEPT at matches - we lost the 4 times I wore it n match days so I was banned from wearing it to the pub & Norwich away). Christ I even blagged an Upgrade while wearing it on a flight home. It looked OK with jeans, as in fact did the home shirt of last year when Mrs DP wears hers. So I saw we were getting another RED shirt I wasn't THAT "angry", personally I would have preferred at least some "nod" towards stripes like we had last year (but understand the Business world & templates well enough to know that was a pipe dream). But and here is the rub. Even though it is a plain shirt, IT STILL LOOKS NAFF. Eric said it best when he asked why we had "ST's" wrapped around the arms. They are just NAFF. And then the gold lettering. OK so I could understand that IF (as alleged) we were going to be carrying a globally recognised CLASSY brand such as Lotus, but with a Gold aap3 smiley? Really? I cannot see that enhancing THEIR brand image. Are THEY changing ALL their Letterheads, logos, business cards etc to Gold? Not from what I have seen on Twitter so far. So we are left with this concoction that reflects SOMETHING WENT WRONG with the big plan. IF they can screw something up (in my mind at least) before the season has even STARTED, then that does NOT fill me with confidence about other big decisions that people will be making. So, I actually wanted a plain shirt. But what we have been given is a crock of sh1t. OF COURSE kids love it. They don't understand our history, to them MLT is something their Dad talks about, they won't understand you lot going on about Keegan and Xerox either, so of course THE KIDS wanted the kit today. To me it is a disaster that fails on every level. Christ, I'd rather wear an old stripes shirt out clubbing next weekend than pay for this piece of naffness.

For Gig/Petrolheads, just an FYI for the Abu Dhabi GP in whenever. Depeche Mode play the free concert (for ticketholders at the GP) on Sunday Night Muse play the Saturday night. Still tba for Friday So a ticket for the GP & get couple of big gigs in. Oh and for those who missed The Killers at Wembley/IOW or wherever they will be here on the beach on 11th October at Sandance supported by Of Monsters & Men - 12,000 **** heads rammed onto a strip of sand
