Interesting that both Man City & Liverpool are trying to sell or loan some players this window. Is there anyone left in football who doesn't sell when it suits them or the deal is right? Of course not.

AOC is this season's Papa/Antonio rolled into one and he is one heck of a lot more consistent than they were. Would we miss him, no the team itself is good enough, but we WOULD miss that "Impact Player". Jeez we had thousands of threads on that subject all summer long and into the early weeks of the season (and poor results as well). Would we miss AoC, no, but we would need an Impact player PDQ back into the squad. What we would also miss is watching him develop and improve every week and we would miss the "Excitement" of what he could become for us IF he stays on the bus

We have one thread where it seems that Saints have made some speculative bids for players who will improve the squad, which appear to have been turned down. We have a thread where we discuss how Millwall & Blackpool have made speculative bids for Puncheon. We have a thread where it appears that Arsenal may may a speculative bid for AoC based on speculation by a paper. And it is a disgrace and the Chairman is two faced. Hmm AoC is hot property. He will NOT win someone the PL or CL place this season, he isn't ready, so 5 or 10 mil is a lot of money to punt now. At the end of the season, contracts end, players move and budgets get re-assessed. Anything now will be aimed to be trying it on to get him on the cheap. Maybe we need the cash maybe we don't, but my guess is that we don't and that playing in the NPC next season will be worth more than 5mil on our revenue streams. The business logic doesn't seem to work. NC is a business man, so it will come down to risk management. If he thinks their is a risk of losing the asset for nothing (ie career ending injury) then I would expect NC to take the offer. If he is insured for the transfer value then tehre is no risk and a businessman doesn't need to sell. So it's a try on from Arsenal IMHO.

Question. When does the mid-season Transfer Window for Loans expire? Can understand that we would want to only buy players who improve our squad at the moment (due to planning to play in the NPC next year) Can also understand the logic behind not wanting to mess up a wage structure (look at the muppets Liverpool & The Skates have in their squad that they are paying fortunes to and cannot get rid of). But also we could dip our toes into the loan market for some cover from bloated PL squads. Man City for example seem to be trying to loan a player to every club in England at the moment.

Well, he doesn't look to be going to Liverpool http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8258473/Liverpool-manager-Kenny-Dalglish-targets-four-January-buys-in-crucial-transfer-window.html

Hmmm So why didn't they think of that in the whole Defence Review..... HMS Tesco Fleet Air Arm could have kept the Harriers sponsored by those meerkats The Axa Insurance fleet of Ambulances The Range Rover Kevlar armoured Light tanks & Troop carriers that we need out in Afghanistan Inflight Refuelling sponsored by Esso Coastguard sponsored by Directline Nautical Insurance Jockey, The Kevlar underpants of choice for the Marines

You know, some people on here are getting as obsessed as Dalek about certain blasts from the past.

Do you ever feel sorry for the opposition..?
dubai_phil replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
I hear what you are saying, but then we'll be out of here pretty damned soon and ain't coming back, so feck 'em.... But it HAS been a lot more fun than hoping we can somehow scrape together 38 points in the PL playing against a different bunch of mercenaries every week. So I feel sorry for those fans who ONLY have that to look forward to each season. With luck our bus will ride right over them on our way to being the next Barcelona. Yeah right -
And this Ladies and Gentlemen would appear to be the classic example of The Salesman's favourite motto. Money Talks Bullsh1t walks Here endeth the lesson.

Looking bad for Saturday. Cannot see us continuing the fine run of form.... ericofarabia got his ticket today. We're doomed I tell ya'

Lol, nice one Steve. TBH, until Dalglish works out that he is in a relegation scrap, I can see them getting worse and worse. The fans all think their messiah has returned and they will be back in the CL next season. Reality is a squad of players who aren't good enough for the PL mentally and a manager "who has kept in touch with football by being a TV pundit and coaching the Youth Team" Sports Science Kenny? Psychology? Nah it's all about the history of this club...

Guly suddenly realises the implication of the new "Hide the match ball down there" Goal celebration

this. The Telegraph article alluded to it having to be an offer that simply could not be refused as well. A somehow maybe sometime deal? Right now, next to worthless - let's face it, when are Liverpool likely to get back into the CL? But more than that if he is worth 5mil plus add ons now, then in June he'll be worth more if he keeps developing as the other clubs start to see he can produce more consistently.

Not quite as mad, but ST holding mate & I sat in a pub in Essex listening to Saintsplayer on my laptop the afternoon before my Daughter's engagement party. We had tried 4 places before we saw the sign saying free Wi-fi. We got some odd looks from the locals. We also had a Skype Conference call one game where we had Solent next to a mic in Bournemouth, a fan in Scotland, one in Latvia, myself & one in Frankfurt all listening to the game and typing our own mini forum comments - that was a laugh

Woosh Pah, what would you expect from someone in the land of Volvo drivers. Why I bet they don't even HAVE buses over there. We're lucky, we have buses, we have normal ones, Double Decker ones and even Bendy ones. For many years we also had a real London Bus. David this is about the beginning of a new era of almost WGS affection that we haven't seen for a long long time. I'd love to get on the bus but unfortunately if I did that tonight, I'd be lucky to get back in time for the next Forum match so I'll just bumble up and down Al Wasl Road on one and wait until he tells us we're flying..... The wheels on the bus go round and round Loving It

Good performance, bowlers dragged them back into the game in the last 10 overs. Although was funny to see Swanny's face after his 1st 3 balls had all been despatched into the main stand for 6's. Great and lucky start by Bell & KP, but we kept losing wickets to poor shots. Great work by Shazad to keep Watson's first two balls out then getting the single to get Woakes back on strike. And Woakes? Nervous 2nd over and expensive spell, but he stayed cool and played proper cricket shots, great debut to win the game off the last ball. Oh and well played Brett Lee - takes a screaming catch in the deep to give them hope, then bowls the penultimate over of garbage to go for 11 runs. Win by one wicket off the last ball. Woo Hoo

Hang on, I thought you could take your bike on a train, but not on a bus? Is the reason for all this our pre-season when the players had to get on their bikes to the training ground? Did we take a bus yesterday? I thought we used FlyBE for away games? I'm confused

I'm pretty sure I heard a fair few renditions of the Adam Lallana/Mitchell Johnson song on the radio last night. If you want to get this one going though Hammy, think you need to start with the Family Centre. The kids should know it off by heart!

My 4,932nd attempt to post something since half time. I'm stunned, never expected that, now I truly believe & those down the road with over abused sphincter muscles must really be clamping their cheeks together after that. Heck even SAF must have been impressed. Down side, what's the likelihood of a formal Liverpool bid for Oxo tomorrow. But right now. one word BUZZING -
I honestly cannot believe tonights performance. We just keep battling then tearing teams apart. Luckily I announced myself as being whelmed by his appointment. Now I think it could be (in Whispering Dave's own words) the best football I've listened to since WGS's best days. I am now officially overwhelmed at his appointment. Hope we don't lose him to Man City.
