I wonder... All very sad for anyone that gets into an addiction spiral, and with his changed circumstances and income this may be a real problem for Claus.... But I still wonder back to WGS days and if we actually had a much bigger problem inside the club than we ever got to hear about. Was it just Claus or were others of his era also into this? We've speculated a lot about "players doing bad things with other players wives" but I wonder if this is what WGS alluded to in his post Newcastle statement that "Dark Forces were at work within the club. Is this a sad story or the Tip of an old iceberg that was a small part of what sank us?

Lardy Cake. You have NO idea how much I miss those, especially early in the morning from Reeves the Bakers while still warm. Down here? Grilled Haloumi Cheese and Lebanese Red Wine. Hell, Cornish Pasties? they're even sold down here, alongside Haggis (yuk)

Back on the subject of clubbing. Would it be worth 30 quid to go and see Athlete, The Futureheads, Grand Master Flash and some **** (DJ Zane Lowe from Radio One? Our local gaff has a big night organised this week and clubs here tend to be more "almost a Grand-dad friendly" than anywhere in the UK?

No doubt about it, Nurofen or Ibuprofen. There was a Scientist on Sky News on New years Eve who explained the science behind it. Dehydration from the alochol causes the water between the brain and your skull to shrink causing your brain to swell and bang against the inside of your skull. The anti-inflamatory properties of Ibuprofen stops that from happening. End of. Mind you it totally fooks your liver but hey they can transplant those. Without Nurofen this weird city would be another ****hole ME town. With it, it is just another stopping off point in the queue for a Liver transplant. Never leave home without them. If p*ssed then 200mg if mortalled then 400mg if beyond beer scooter then a litre of water and 400mg That is all But a BJ helps of course

perhaps the left over expat Saints who travelled over for the JPT should make the effort and wear the shirt and support the Spuds.... Would outnumber the Skate fans for sure

Lol so they have had ONE group show proof of funds. We had something like 6 if you inculde the mythical Irish, the Whacko's, the Syrian Viagra substitute, the Jersey Boysh, the Pinnacle of debacle & the Winner Markus. It could have been 7 if Whacko really did find a second grouping, and they found One. Excellent work all round chaps

What down here! Yeah right:-) Jeez it's a month in nick for a peck on the cheek. We'll be wearing Hijabs next.

Yep, good idea, let's have a regime change. Worked well in Iraq...... but seriously, the trap you have fallen into is the "By our standards it isn't right" which I and many down here including Saudis agree with. The PROBLEM is that "The Magic Kingdom" is the spiritual home of Islam. As many may have noted there are as many branches of that religion as there are of Christianity. The PROBLEM the Saudi's have is being "The Custodians of the Holy Places" and having to balance praticality against potential extremism. They walk a very fine path. The point you make is fine but you may as well demand that Britain treats immigrants the way the Middle East treats their migrant workers - ie abide by OUR rules and OUR culture or bugger off home. neither will change because they can't -
What an excellent question. This is, without a doubt, the sort of question that should be asked. It is the sort of question that can drive quality debate, that can seek clarification on critical issues and of course can help to inform and educate. With question such as this one, the future of this forum is in safe hands and this should become a benchmark for all the questions of the future to aspire to. My congratulations to you for constructing such an important question, it has without a doubt been the question of the day. Which is my way of saying - we ain't ever going to find out now we are a Private Company, but is also something I think we should know. Meanhwile I would like to thank the 1974 ish LibDem candidate for Salisbury & South Wiltshire for giving me that marvellous quote. He actually used that in answer to a question and since that day I have held all Politicians in the regard that they deserve. You guys should play Election Bingo and see who else tries that one on

You forgot Gary Monk at Swansea I recall Which brings me back to my favourite old Chestnut. Within the current set-up of English Football can you convert Academy Players into Professionals? They all mature at different rates, some are world beaters at 18 (Michael Owen) some take to their mid twenties. Our reserve team isn't the place where they will learn, their careers need to be managed with careful placements on loan at ever increasing levels of competitive football. The SCW "debacle" was originally supposed to do that but it all went Pete Tong. You watch 7 or 8 years down the line as Lancashire, Patterson, McLaggon or others HDAJFsomeoneelse. But we wouldn't have wanted to spend the time and effort to keep them while they matured

To all those who think we can wait for next season for promotion

"We shall buy the best available players for the League we are in" "We shall not sell a player for pure profit motives" "If any player is unsettled or unhappy at the club then they should be removed from the First Team sqaud where their negative attitude could affect the other players UNTIL such time as an offer that is made which enables us to buy a BETTER quality replacement" Now, if some small chance we had those mantras within the Board Room then I think I would believe things have really changed. If only they were stated in the business plan NC is working to, or had been mentioned in interviews. Oh wait, most of them have been. Then it comes down to the "I told you so" mindsets vs the "Just enjoy the ride" attitude -

Ha. Mere amateurs these allegedly dodgy Football types with their brown paper bags and their Aston Martins with secret compartments. US$970 million Fraud, now THAT's what I call dodgy dealings, way to go dudes! And it's the 3rd story on the subject this week - some Brits took a bank for US$500mil - no wonder Al Fahim couldn't find the cash, it had all been nicked already! http://business.maktoob.com/20090000455630/Fraudsters_to_face_harsher_sentences_in_Dubai/Article.htm?utm_campaign=Night-Newsletter&utm_medium=Main-News6&utm_source=Night-Newsletter&utm_content=

Alps is right. But not simply from the Lallana perspective. Looking at the really successful clubs in England the one thing they all strive to achieve is consistency. The Club is run solidly and soundly from top to bottom and needless change never happens. At the moment although many aren't happy with it, we are being consistent, 4 wins and one draw from 5 games and a settled first team grinding out results is a starting point. IF we don't get up this season then as many have speculated or even advocated, the "desire" to change for the sake of it becomes very strong. Sure we are "wealthy" but culling the entire Team management structure with a new man coming in with new ideas and a new team will burn up resources. L1 players by nature aren't the best and they will face change that some may not cope with. Change is not always for the best. We may lose Lallana, but Man Ure lost Ronaldo - that always happens in football. What is as important as keeping your best players is FINDING the new ones to replace them. Now, whether you think that AP is the best manager for us or not, the "back office" TEAM that has been put in place to look for new players has, this season, been FAR more successful than any we have had for a very long time. Sure Seaborne & Semi may not be world beaters, but they are a hell of a lot better than the dodgy Argentinians, injured North Africans and the like that we have signed in the past. Losing Adam & maybe Rickie will hurt, but there ARE other players out there who could join us and do a job IF you know where to look. To me the most important resource we now seem to have is the back office who have managed to sign players who are better than what we had before AT THIS LEVEL. Losing star players for big money - we can get by (don't want it to happen but it does). Losing AP, may make things better on the pitch, maybe not (we wait and see). But losing or having to bring in a whole new backroom staff to replace those who HAVE done well this season - THAT would worry me more. -
Saw them unplugged in concert here about 6 years ago - excellent
