  1. Really interesting stuff here. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2020/feb/01/ryan-bertrand-southampton-director-of-football-ambitions-business-racism?CMP=share_btn_tw&__twitter_impression=true
  2. Even a scrappy 1-0 win with the ball deflecting off Ings' cock would be fine if we'd got them. Wouldn't matter what the score was as long as we won.
  3. My grandad supports Spurs. Was a long time season ticket holder who also had a spell working in the players bar. I asked his opinion on Walker-Peters and he said "I've never heard of him." He is 95 though so I'll let him off.
  4. He played against us last season didn't he? The game at home when that useless Ward Prowse luckily sent a cross in to the top corner to give us the win.
  5. Maybe she wasn't specifically given air time to talk about that but it just happened to come up as part of a larger interview? The BBC can't win. Labour supporters slammed it for being pro-Tory while Tories slammed it for being pro-Labour. If they weren't allowed to report on stupid things people say then there would barely be a mention of Donald Trump on the news.
  6. An obviously weird comment that they've pushed as a "news" story to get people talking about it. Pretty sure the BBC knew it was ridiculous but realised it would get a load of web traffic so put it out. Seems to be one of the most commented on stories so it worked. No rational boss is going to ban people talking about sport. Just like they won't ban people talking about reality TV.
  7. Interesting that a lot of people don't seem to understand the huge technical differences between playing CB and full back. I think Danso should be cut a bit of slack here. Not only was he playing out of position but he was up against a world class player who often makes specialist right backs look bang average. I'm not saying he turned in a great performance but there's some pretty ridiculous comments flying around. Unfortunately for him he's not really going to get much opportunity to play CB, but it's quite unfair to form an opinion on his overall qualities based solely on him playing out of position.
  8. Lads singing them in the pub.
  9. Danso should never have been put in the position where he had to defend for the goal. Lo Celso wandered past 4 of our players far too easily. Even if you think he didn't do the right thing there were plenty of teammates who messed up in the previous 10 seconds allowing the break to happen.
  10. Enjoyed the game, took advantage of the cheap tickets to behind the dugouts in premium seats for £10. Weird flicking through the match thread with comments like "game over" when Spurs scored because it was an even match that we always looked like scoring in. They are good on the break and neat in possession, but then they should be with their expensive squad. They certainly weren't a better team than us though. We definitely use our players more effectively than they do. Great goal by Boufal, really pleased for him. Loved the mid air flick that nutmegged a Spurs player too. Pity Armstrong got injured but these things happen and as a squad we've not really suffered too many this season. Good to be in the hat for the next round.
  11. Beautiful South was Darren's fanzine wasn't it?
  12. Were you at the meeting? Was in the Maple Leaff if I remember correctly. Probably the one and only time I actually felt a slight bit of sympathy for Lowe and Cowan. An utterly bizarre evening.
  13. He was one of the 4 main SISA members with Nick Illingsworth, Clive Foley and Perry McMillan. Chorley was a bit of a loose cannon. I heard he was making porn for a while and that he got banned from a charity shop for intimidating staff. No idea if he's still around Southampton or not. Clive and Nick do the Ugly Inside stuff. Not sure if Perry still goes to games, not seen him around for a long time.
  14. Essruu's a good guy. Did Milan, Prague and Midtjylland with him. Pity he doesn't post much anymore.
  15. We won a cup game there as well with about 6000 of us in the ground.
  16. He headed it in from a yard out!
  17. Man Utd are beyond bad.
  18. He watches Sholing these days, in fact he's probably there now for the Hampshire Cup match against Bournemouth U21's.
  19. Townsend is injured isn't he? They are still without some of their best players so not a bad time to play them. I'm going for another tight game. 1-1.
  20. Forgot to give a shout out to the woman who brazenly walked back to her seat at half time past 2 dozy stewards while carrying a pint of beer. Maybe that's the way to get around the ground regs, just be so blatant about it that no one would even think to challenge you.
  21. First time I'd heard it too. I wondered if it was Shane Long singing again? It certainly didn't sound like a proper old version anyway.
  22. We are the fans from the bingo bus crew The Saints voice panel, we represent you We only drink soft drinks We never get drunk Southampton boys and girls and gender fluid supporters in town. La la la la la la la la la la la la. Oi.
  23. The dad of the kid who ran on the pitch sounds like a complete cock. Goaded the kid to run on and ask Boufal for his shirt, then when the child was escorted back to his seat by the stewards he kicked off and tried to assault one of them.
  24. Thought we played ok against a much better team. We were weirdly clinical in the first half and 2-0 flattered us a bit. Gave away 3 avoidable goals in the second half but we weren't completely outplayed or anything. Wolves have some very good players. No disgrace to lose to them at all.
  25. I wonder if it's all down to Gao wanting to sell. He knows this is only likely if we stay in the top flight and recent results and performances mean this is now likely. Therefore he may now feel there's no need to spend extra money, whereas a few weeks ago the idea might have been to get in a couple of players to try and keep us up and protect the sale price of the club.
