  1. Fair point about the Mail. They do have some worthy journalism, pity it's hidden amongst outraged moral panics and obsession with the Royals. Yes, the Mail Online is horrible click bait drivel and the comments section is the cesspool of the internet. We used to get the Sunday Times years back. Mainly for the Culture section which had some great content and to laugh at whatever twaddle Michael Winner was coming out with. The Guardian was the last paper we regularly bought but stopped that about 4 years ago. I do feel guilty about not buying one and wish the Daily Echo was a proper campaigning local paper rather than a cut and paste disaster zone written by 3 journalists who barely leave their desk because I'd happily buy that if it was.
  2. I really wish I liked a newspaper enough to buy one. Can't give Murdoch any of my money. The Guardian is just too smug. The Mail and the Express aren't even newspapers. What's left? The Mirror? The Star? Despite that pretty much all papers at some point or another have some amazing investigative journalism. If happily pay a small fee to read an article on line but don't want to subscribe to their websites or have to buy a paper every day to pick through a load of old tosh to find the odd good story. The only thing I actually buy is Private Eye.

Denmark has announced any companies registered in tax havens will not be eligible for state aid programmes during the pandemic. The more I read about their country the more I like it. I had a great time there when we played Midtjylland. Let's face it, we should probably just all move to Denmark.

Interesting that 3 of the countries who seemed to have dealt with this best have female leaders. New Zealand, Denmark and Germany. Maybe we should have kept Theresa May!
  5. Just read the article and noticed the picture of him without a clacker while others around him have one. On that basis I'm happy for him to stay as long as he wants.
  6. GK - Oblak RB - Lahm CB - Adams CB - Guillet LB - Junior DM - Keane AM - David Silva AM - Totti AM - Nedved ST - Messi ST - Mbappe Think this is OK? Putting Guillet at CB isn't ideal but he did play in defence at times. Midfield might be a bit light but Keane's so good he can do all the tackling himself. Really struggled for a LB to fit in without having to take someone else out. Had to have Oblak because I love him.

We have to hold the government to account surely? We would do that whoever was in charge. If Labour had won the last election and gone down the same path as the current government, would Weston be supporting the actions they took? It's not political to blame the Tory party. It's investigating whether they messed up or not and cost lives, much like with Tony Blair and Iraq.

    Dusan Tadic

This was a great moment. I used to love the fact he'd beat the same player 2 or 3 times just because he could. We all knew what he was going to do in these situations but defenders were often powerless to stop him.
  9. Great scenes on the terrace when Barnard scored against Yeovil. Caulker was playing for them that day too. If we were having a worst performance by a Saints centre back to go along with the striker thread then his "performance" in the 6-1 cup loss to Liverpool will be right up there alongside Alan Bennett Vs Palace.
  10. All correct. I love Kim. Going to wait until Tuesday and watch the last 2 episodes back to back.
  11. Fair enough. So we're not flying in a load of workers from Europe?

... poor performance. This was the game when we chucked it away in the last 20 minutes and Alun Armstrong scored a last minute winner.

He probably would have done if he was playing but considering he was 7 at the time it would have been unfair to blame him for a poor per

I'm still really annoyed about the 2-1 loss at home to Stockport in the League Cup quarter final.
  16. Yeah, I agree. It definitely started to drag a bit a while back but this series has been great.
  17. The Democrats are handing the election to Trump if they run a campaign with Biden as leader. I really can't see him winning.

The Met really are a law unto themselves and seem to make up their own rules compared to the rest of the country.
  19. The Wire was on Now TV at one point. Not sure at the moment though as we only have Netflix and it's definitely not on there. Really want to rewatch Northern Exposure as I adored that in the 90's. It's nowhere to be seen now though because they aren't allowed to show it with the original music used in the programme.
  20. Finally finished Top Boy on Netflix. Has to be the closest thing we have to The Wire in this country. Loved it.

That's simply just not true apart from in his last season when the whole team were complete toilet, and even then he came to life at the right time and won us that crucial game against Bournemouth. Thing is with Tadic is that he was often going for a high risk killer pass which, when it came off would often lead to a chance or a goal. Problem with high risk passes is they sometimes don't. However his vision, technique and sheer volume of assists justified him trying. As far as I'm concerned he was a great player for us and the people who used to moan at him pretty much don't understand or appreciate decent football.

The Met Police twitter account has posted about 4 or 5 videos of officers clapping outside hospitals last night in which pretty much all of them feature groups of people stood around next to each other. As if the NHS staff haven't already suffered enough one officer even brought a saxophone to play outside a hospital.
  23. Not related to the football club but this story in Pompey News is totally bizarre. https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/politics/swastika-hot-cross-bun-row-sees-portsmouth-conservative-councillor-lee-mason-suspended-tory-party-2539985?utm_source=POLITICO.EU&utm_campaign=0de525ef2e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_04_17_06_03&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_10959edeb5-0de525ef2e-190127789

What the hell is going on here? The same police force that bundled someone out of a park are there allowing people to stand in large groups right next to each other and clap. Weird. https://twitter.com/d_rafi1/status/1250864574984867856?s=19
  25. People hated Dowie when he first came in but he won the majority of fans over through a combination of sheer hard work and falling over to win free kicks that MLT scored from.
